You're seriously just going to let me stand here and wait for the event to end?!" Hafrun shouted, standing in front of the guards at the entrance to the colosseum.

The arcaneblade opening ceremony was taking place inside. She had raced there as fast as she could, hoping to outpace Allen and Rasheeda and feel superior by arriving first. Alone and frustrated, she faced the guards.

"You're late," one of the guards replied. "You can't enter until Principal Eliphas has finished speaking."

Hafrun's frustration boiled over. "The only important part of this opening ceremony is Eliphas's speech! And you're telling me to wait until he's finished?!"

"Rules are rules," the guard insisted. "You can't enter."

"These quicker-lived humans," Hafrun muttered under her breath. "Why can't they just follow my lead? We're beauty in every way!"
