Chapitre 2: Cavern
" What a day... "
A beautiful sight of the green forest enticed the man's blue eyes. No matter in which direction or how far he looked he couldn't see any sign of civilization.
Seeing that no humans were nearby he momentarily held his breath before slowly descending down the mountain slope.
He knew that the sun would set in a few hours only by looking at its position in the sky. What he aimed for was to find a temporary shelter where he'll be able to spend a night.
Luckily while climbing down the mountain he found a small cavern with enough space for him to be comfortable.
Using the knowledge gained while hunting in the wild the young man started collecting dry branches and dragged them into his temporary home. Collecting some moss growing on the north side of the trees' the man brought it back to the cavern as well.
Now the hard part was upon him, he had to find some flint and an iron-rich rock.
Walking near the bottom of the hill the man was pretty lucky to soon spot some flint. Putting it in his jacket he suddenly felt something cold already residing in his pocket.
Pulling out the unknown object he felt it perfectly fit his hand.
" A Phone! "
The man wanted to shout, but held himself back. He still didn't know the ecosystem of the forest, but he was 100% sure that he wasn't at the top of the food chain.
Using the black screen of the phone as a mirror the man could see his reflection.

The words got stuck in his throat, even though his eye and hair colors were the same, his face wasn't! He was noticeably more handsome, even his face seemed no older than that of the teenager.
' What the hell happened... '
With slightly trembling hands the man started inspecting the phone only to find it to be similar to his old device.
Pressing the side button the loading icon appeared on its screen while the phone was slowly booting up.
Finally the device was fully functional and the man could interact with it. Slowly putting his fingerprint on its surface the phone reacted and the lock screen disappeared revealing a background picture with three people smiling towards the camera.
In the middle there was a small boy with black hair and a visible smile while accompanying him on each side was a woman and a man. All of them had visible smiles and similar appearances, similar hair color, eyes, etc...
A single tear left the man's eyes falling on the ground. Quickly going through the phone info his breath momentarily froze.
' Owner of the Device - Kai Steele '
At first he wasn't 100% sure, but now he was certain, he somehow managed to survive the death. Looking at the date he almost had a heart attack.
The date was 2142 May 5th, around 10 years before his death!
Trying to keep his head calm the man quickly checked if the phone had a signal, unfortunately it didn't.
' I either somehow managed to come back in time or I'm stuck in a powerful illusion '
Looking around the young man spotted a nearby tree and used some force to punch its trunk.
' Its real... '
Clenching his aching fist the man's face started shifting into a smile. Just an hour ago he was content with dying, but now, not so much.
' I guess my name is still Kai '
With a newfound strength Kai went through his phone quickly comparing the information he knew and the information saved on the phone.
Unsurprisingly nothing has changed, the world was still riddled with otherworldly monsters and dungeons. Humans have managed to fight back the monsters and create their own continent even though it was small compared to the lands ruled by hostile species.
Our race could still wield Mana and become powerful through raising our Body's capabilities by infusing it with Mana or creating Mana Circles and performing powerful Magic outside the body.
' The sun is setting... '
Seeing that the Light will soon disappear, Kai started frantically searching for an iron-rich rock which he'll use to produce some sparks when hit against flint.
Luckily such rock was found below the cliff Kai has previously stood on.
Retreating into the Cavern he started constructing a campfire. As soon as it was done, Kai started striking iron-rich rock against the flint with sparks appearing upon their collision.
Whoosh...
Finally the moss caught on fire and soon Kai had successfully made himself a source of heat. Looking at his phone he noticed that it had almost no battery, hence decided not to use it and put his head on the hard ground of the cave.
' I've been through worse '
All the mental fatigue that accumulated throughout the day suddenly engulfed him, sending him into the dreamland.
Crank... Crank...
Even in his sleep Kai couldn't rest due to a Raven's voice echoing in his ear. Opening his eyes he noticed that everything around him was completely white.
Looking around Kai saw an oak tree, deprived of leaves, not too far for him. Seeing no other landmarks in the horizon he started approaching the sapling.
Crank... Crank...
As soon as he reached its trunk he heard a Raven and lifted up his eyes. The bird was present on one of the branches.
' You followed me even to the past '
Looking at the bird's eyes Kai could see its shiny, yet intelligent eyes. He already knew that the Raven wasn't a simple bird, it was a monster.
No normal Raven would approach a fighting site, especially when one of the fighters was still alive. Looking at his eyes Kai also noticed that they were blue, similar to his, yet a bit different due to being a bit lighter in color.
Shifting his gaze from the Bird Kai looked at the oak tree. Touching its trunk he could feel claw marks left from the monster he fought right before dying.
' I've probably gotten a Trauma '
Taking a seat near the trunk Kai watched as the Raven landed on the ground nearby, just looking at him. The bird's feathers were as black as void while his beak was slightly gray.
With curious eyes the monster kept staring towards Kai while he was trying to assess its power.
' Is he a Duke Rank monster? '
Kai tried to judge how powerful the monster was for it to create an illusion that'd follow him even through the time. Kai didn't even dare to think that the Raven was the one who sent him back in time.
As far as he knew no one has the reign over the time, meaning that something weird happened with the time or... Kai had no other guesses
Looking back at the bird Kai tried to reach it with his hand, but the Raven flew back on one of the branches.
Kai's consciousness was suddenly pulled back out of the white desert.
Blink... Blink...
The morning was upon him.
