"I heard that you are a daughter of a merchant," the Princess said when Rosalind continued eating the cake.

"I am."

"Have you been to Wugari?"

"No." Rosalind has never been to Wugari. "Maybe once, when I was a child. I have no memories of what happened before the — accident."

"Ah, the unfortunate accident that killed your mother and father?"

Rosalind stopped eating. She blinked and tears pooled in her eyes. "Yes."

"I did not mean to remind you of the past," the Crown Princess said softly.

"It's alright." Rosalind grabbed a napkin and dabbed the nonexistent tears. She wanted to know why the Princess and the Countess were doing this. What was their motivation? Were they here simply to try and find out more information about the relationship between the Duke and her? No. She refused to believe that that was the case.
