Chapitre 43: The Sudden Decision

"Knock! Knock!"

It was for the past 20 minutes that Mrs. Anderson had been knocking on the door, and there was no sign of anyone attending it. She tried calling Gloria, but just like the door the call wasn't getting connected. It directly went to voicemails.

"Gloria, I've trying to call Alice for a long time. Please tell her to answer the call or try to reach me." Mrs. Anderson sent a voicemail as she started to walk back to the street.

"I can't believe they've already gone to bed," she muttered under her breath. No lights were visibly lit in the home, not even on the porch.

The only thing that came up to her mind was that the girls had gone somewhere out in the name of having a girls' night at home. Mrs. was infuriated just by the assumption.

What else would they be doing if not for being at home and none of the two girls answering their call? She regretted not saving Gloria's mother's number.

"God! This girl's turning me gray sooner than I should," she muttered as she kept walking nonstop.

"Mrs. Anderson!"

The distant voice from behind had Mrs.Anderson turn around with a frown. A young man who looked to be in his mid-twenties in a black cloak came running on his feet toward her as she came to stop her track. Her eyes fell on the wavy hair head, where its little strands flew back and forth as the slight breeze in the night atmosphere pushed past him.

"It seems the town's busiest man is on his way back home," she remarked, and they began to walk side by side as they conversed. At her comment, the man gave a side glance with a light chuckle escaping his lips.

"Well, what can I say- but what had my sweet aunt walk down on the streets at this hour? Lost time at the Clovers?" He questioned with a frown.

Mrs. Anderson let out a long sigh. "I wish it could have been that way. It's time that I'll have to discipline that child," she muttered the latter not so loudly.

"Alice?" He questioned, to which she hummed and stated, "She's careless for not being cautious, roaming around at night. I hope the girls are safe."

"Well, let's only hope they are," He accepted with concern as he reassured the worried woman.

"Thank you for coming by, son. How about we have a cup of tea before you leave?"

"Oh, no. Mother might be already waiting for me. I'd better get going before she starts searching for me," he said as he scratched his nape and chuckled before he left.

"Such a nice boy. How wonderful of a couple would Alice and Timothee be if they were together," she imagined, dreamily as she entered her house.

Walking out of the mortuary with a cold expression, he put on his glasses, gritting his teeth and clenching his fist in anger. Everything that he had assumed was happening one after another. The lawyer whom he met a few days ago was seen dead at the back of her house yard. And the vial given to the patient confirmed the involvement of the bloody witches resulting in his death.

Zavior who was kept busy handling the case files of Mrs. Taylor. He had been trying to call Adrien just so he could be informed of what was happening at the hospital. But Adrien didn't find the need of sharing it. The phone in his pocket rang for the umpteenth time.

"What the fuck, Zavior?!" he yelled into the phone, losing his patience.

"Adra?" His voice lowered at the recognition of his sister. A frown mered on his forehead as he shifted his phone to his left ear, listening to her sister give in the pieces of information.

As the call went to an end, he got on his bike and rode straight toward his mansion with a serious expression. Whatever that is happening at the palace was to no good thought Adrien.

The fuzzy police at the junction waved and yelled upon seeing someone riding a vehicle so recklessly with an outrageous speed. Not seeing any sign of the man stopping his bike, he started to race after him.

"Fuck! I don't have time to play with this idiot," muttered Adrien as he slowed his bike and raised his third finger up infuriating the man more than he already was before he fastened his monster into a small pathway. He turned his engine down as he waited for the idiot to pass by the road which he did in no time.

Adrien ignited his bike, ready to flash into his mansion. But his ears perked at the little sounds that came from behind. He cursed under his breath for his bad luck today. Everything had to happen all at once.

"Running away already?" Came the mockery tone from behind. He didn't have to look behind to see who it was.

Adrien had no time to get off his bike as he was already running out of time and had other better things to do than play baby with the number of road thugs. They stood behind with their little knives and daggers as they spoke nonsense and ugly giggles.

"You think we'd scare away with that little thing of yours?" Questioned one of the four of them as they heard his bike roar.

Adrien had them close their eyes as he raced his bike, creating smoke, and left the place. Smoke filled the place, having them cough out and curse.

"What the fuck?"

"We missed that shit!"

Adrien had no time to look back. He passed through the gates that opened on their accord as he neared.

"Good evening, Master Adrien," greeted the butler as he pushed the door open for him.

"Evening, Delbert," he replied as he walked in, toward the living room and pluffed on the couch.

The butler came in with a maid pushing a two-tier trolley that carried the tea set with a jar of milk. The maid poured the bloody liquid into a clean white tea cup and mixed it with enough amount of milk before she squeaked out in fear.

"Your tea is prepared, Master Adrien," she said as she stretched out the tea cup toward Adrien who opened his eyes and saw the maid bowing her head with a visible tremble.

The butler who saw the maid quiver cursed under his breath as he knew what went in his master's mind and was to happen the next.

"Fire her."

The maid's eyes turned sources while the butler seemed unfaced at his order. "B-but, Master Adrien! I did nothing to be fired."

"Delbert!"

"Yes, Master!"

The maid who kept pleading was immediately dragged out of the hall and the butler had to serve the blood tea to his master.

"I'll be returning to the palace," said Adrein out of the blue.

The butler who was not expecting the sudden change of mind had the source in his hand drop down to the floor.
