Chapitre 40: She Reminds Me Of Someone

"Aunt Lily?" Alicia whispered the middle-aged lady's name with a hopeful look only to see her step aside from the door. A tall yet strong-looking man came into her view wearing a white hoody over him. Alicia frowned at the sight.

Who is he, and why was she tied up in a confined, dark room?

"She's the one, Your Highness," stated the lady, confusing Alicia more than she already was.

Highness? What was he, one of the royals? Alicia's eyes widened at the thought. No way! That couldn't be.

The man hummed and stepped into the room with his mask still on his face, giving her only a glimpse of his frightening heterochromatic red and black eyes that were directed right into her. With the first few steps of his the light in the room lit giving her state of the room. But she could not take her eyes away from the man who was approaching her like a predator. The look of his had her goosebumps with chills running down her spine.

"How are you doing, little one?" he asked with his raspy intimidating voice having her heart thud loudly. The man took slowed steps toward her. She muffled and struggled to get free with every step of his. A visible sharp knife was clutched in his fair white hands, giving her the worst scenarios she could imagine.

"Do you know what's so enticing, Cecilia?" He questioned.

Alicia wondered who this Nora was when all there was her, Aunt Lily, and the scary-looking man who was not far but two steps away from her having her nearly pee her pants.

"Is it the fear, Your Highness?"

"Tch, you're turning quite a genius the more you work for me," he complimented, irking the woman who was gritting her teeth, holding back her furiousness. "But that's not it," he said as he took off his mask. His eyes never left hers as he did so. Alicia's eyes widened as soon as she laid her eyes on the man's other half of his face.

This can't be him, can he?

"Ah~ Just listen to that little thing. Beating so rhythmically. So musical that I could listen to it for the rest of my life." He leaned forward as he neared her and slid her hair strands behind her ears. The gesture had her close her eyes, expecting a slap or a slam, but instead, he did something else.

A gasp left his lips as he glanced at her ears, giving her an uncomfortable feeling. She tried to jerk his hands off her, but her hands weren't free.

"Wow!"

"This can't be real," He whispered as he ran his fingers over her strange ears and looked into her eyes, observing her features.

Alicia shut her eyes, gritting her teeth. Soon the cloth that was tied over her mouth to prevent her from shouting was cut off using the knife of the man, and the first thing that left Alicia's lips was,

"Where the hell am I?" She yelled with rage.

He still had his hand on her, rubbing it over her jaw, "I would advise you to tone down your voice, you little filthy creature," he whispered, shifting closer to her, looking right into her eyes with a smirk.

"Who are you, and why am I being kept in this place?" Her voice was a little lower than before when she questioned.

"Aunt Lily, what is going on?" She looked at her confusedly as she questioned the woman. Alicia wondered why the woman was dressed so weirdly like some priestess in a gold and white cloak. She showed no sign of recognizing Alicia and wondered what had gotten into her kind neighbor.

"Aunt Lily!" She called out once again.

"Tch! Have her finished by the time I get back, Nora." The man spoke as he got up and left the room in a hast wearing back his hoody and his mask.

As King Alfonzo stepped outside the room, the guards stationed outside saluted him like the wine toys at the toy shop.

Sceptor, the king's right-hand man, followed him with speedy steps, attempting to keep up with the king whilst maintaining a decent distance between them.

"How did it go, Your Majesty?"

"She seems to be unique compared to everyone I've met. makes me think of someone. Someone I know well," King Alfonzo murmured thoughtfully as he moved down the hall.

Sceptor scowled as he attempted to understand who the king might be alluding to.

"Is there a specific person Your Majesty would like me to seek for, or would you prefer that I delve into the elf's past?" His inquiry echoed down the corridor as they went through it, unconcerned about their surroundings.

As they moved forward, their voices became quieter and then vanished as they turned to climb up the steps leading out of the creepy pungent smelling dungeon.

"Huh, Elf? Ouch!" Adrasteia fisted her palm upward only to strike the spear's jagged edge. While making an effort to be silent, she moved her hand in the air. Blowing over the little slit from the weapon she let the sting lessen.

Adrasteia mumbled as she peered through the little peephole behind the closed doors of the cramped equipment room.

"I knew Father was up to something when he was so hurried to leave the dinner," she said. She glanced through the hole once again plotting for a way to leave the room without getting caught by any of the guards. There were barely a few miles separating her location from the hidden path. However, considering that there were soldiers posted at every bend, going on that path was a bit perilous.

"Right, now's the time."

She gingerly opened the door so as not to draw the guards' attention. Shuffled with her bare feet to her left, she brushed her index finger over the old stone walls of the poorly lighted, dark halls and pressed the block as her fingers stopped at the flare holder. The tile in front of her slid in letting her a secret way in. Before leaping into it while holding her breath, Adrasteia cast a quick glance in both directions and hopped in.
