Chapter 271: Mrs. Quickly
Ellis POV
I felt around before I opened my eyes, hoping to feel Livy but I only found air.
The void was there before I was fully aware but now, I felt like I knew Livy a lot better. We didn’t have anything like telepathy, but there was something like a link between Livy and me, letting us each in on how the other was feeling, without a word needing to be said.
I got out of bed to get the kids. She was no doubt at training and would be back soon.
“Okay, up we get,” I said into the empty room.
It was only then, before embarrassment could really take hold, that I smelled the scent wafting from the kitchen. Carl was cooking again.
I wasn’t surprised, as I’d taught him myself, but never guessed he would take to it with such joy. He was almost as good as me.
Side-by-side, Carl worked with Anthony at the stove, singing an old nonsense song, the kids already at the table, ready for school.
“Has anyone seen Livy?” I asked.
