Chapter 262: Get Up And Go
Olivia POV
“Who’s here?” Ellis asked, immediately on edge.
“Your son.”
Ellis looked at Ken who was just as confused as he was, at least if their expressions were anything to go by.
“Of course, he is.”
“No sir, your other son.”
“Carl?”
All heads turned to the doorway at the top of the old stone steps as the doors opened, casting the car and crowd around it in internal light against the dusky dawn.
“Hey, Dad,” Carl said.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in Cleveland?”
“I was, then your friends came and got me, saved me so I was a lot less dead. Thanks for that, by the way.”
“No problem, anytime,” Ellis said, entirely unfazed.
Coming out of the shock of seeing him again, nearly convincing myself as much as we had tricked the Diaz family that Carl was dead, there was one thing that I had to ask.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, finding my voice.
“Figured it would be the safest place,” Carl said.
