after finally being able to make his own soul cain only had some smaller shards and the big shard from miro. after thinking about it for a while he decided to make what he would call an 'auxiliary soul' to connect to his own as he had an idea of what to do with it. after grabbing miro's would which he would use as the base he first absorbed the memories. as he constituted on his hook he caught only the memories before pulling them along the line and away from the main soul, effectively 'cleaning' the soul for further use and memories could cause irregularities in the 'auxiliary soul'. after the memories left the soul cain used the line to temporarily hold them together as the reached his own soul, the memories when outside of the soul looked like a flowing grey mist that was always on the verge of dissipating forever. when the mist first touched cains soul it began to flow in as it found a new host to live in.
closing his eyes miro's life flashed before Cain's eyes, everything from his birth to his death.
miro lived a relatively normal life compared to others, he went to school, played with friends and lived with his parents, went through ups and downs, love and sorrow and all the in-between, this all changed when he was 12, 'they' attacked, the eldrich, writhing masses of death and darkness attacked miro's home world and ended up destroying his whole life. before the military could stop the attack they had already destroyed most of his planet including his family and friends and even taken him to test on and indoctrinate into their 'hive' as a spy and soldier that would do their dirty work and send them Information about his own race.
at first, he didn't want to. but after six years of mental torture and mind games he finally gave up and began to work for them. after being released back into the human empire I he joined the military and began to work for them, whenever he could he would send messages to the hive and steadily grew in strength until something strange happened, one of his subordinates, adam, brought back a strange boy. and you already know what happened after that
walking back up cain stored important knowledge like new skills, information and various other things like his knowledge of cultivation as he was a cultivator, the rest was turned back into essence and stored with a fake core to hold it before cain absorbed miro's core in to his own before adding as much essence to the auxiliary soul as he could before absorbing the rest.
before he made and connected the line he first took some essence away from the auxiliary soul and took the essences of the remaining souls, even going as far as to take some of his own, and added it to the auxiliary soul as different souls had different kinds of energy and using just one wouldn't work for what he wanted to do. after doing this he began to add commands to the soul. using the new skills he got from miro he could more efficiently add the commands as they had some similarity to coding on a computer and miro had some knowledge in his memories so he could steal data from the military to send to the hive.
after a few hours of adding commands, changing the and optimising them he was satisfied with his first project. it should be mentioned that until now no auxiliary souls had been truly connected with his as this one would, the way this auxiliary soul would connect to his was it would use the thread to join his core to its core instead of connecting the shells, after prosing and refining the shell into a near perfect state while still having enough mass to properly connect the cores he joined them.
as soon as he joined them he realised that he was thinking two different thoughts at the same time. while adding auxiliary souls would just increase his thinking speed and processing power in proportion to the size of the auxiliary soul connecting one this deep to his own soul effectively gave him two souls at once. after getting over the effects of the initial connection two things happened. first, he realised that he couldn't do this again until he adjusted to the new soul added to his own, and second he realised that adding a new soul to his own in this was put a lot of stress on his soul.
however there was a silver lining to this, the upside of the first one was that while he would need to adapt to the addition of the new soul he could do so much faster than normal as he now effectively had twice the brain power, and that wasn't counting what would happen if he used one to enhance the other ore did two things at once. the upside to the second one was that while it would hurt his soul was being strengthened and his essence was refined by the constant damage, this happened because the damage would tear his soul but it would heal itself faster than the damage would happen, effectively training it like you would a muscle, and it was refined as the 'impurities' of his soul was pushed out from his soul like you would take out the impurities from a metal and the pain, while more intense as it was from his soul and not his body, allowed his to temper his mind to it so he would be even more unfazed by pain, now with spiritual and fiscal.
after getting used to the pain he activated the real reason he made the auxiliary soul this way.

looking forward chain saw white letters on a strip of black. this way he could monitor his condition freely without having to stop and scan his body, the auxiliary soul did it for him. he added the name as a hidden trigger so that if he ever lost his memory it would bring them back and the age was just the state of his body.
the benefit of this system was that he could add or remove things as he wished at any time. his mana was low as the whole process took some more time than he would have liked and his soul was going between 97 and 99 percent as his soul was tempered slowly but surely. just as he was about to continue his studies with his new tools something unexpected happened. he had left the cores of the random souls around to absorb later but as he went to start his research he felt a pulling force from his auxiliary soul. trying to see what was happening he looked at his own soul only to see it begin to drag in the cores.
before cain could stop them, one of the cores had entered the auxiliary soul. however contrary to what cain thought would happen the core didn't destroy his auxiliary soul, instead it split in two. one part flowed along the line and entered his own and the second part fused with the auxiliary soul's fake core. when this happened the pulling force intensified and dragged the remaining cores into it before the same thing happened. when all the cores had been absorbed the system showed itself again.

after seeing all that would happen was it showing a present go up over time cain tried sending what was happening with his own soul as this wasn't something he had added the original coating. looking at his soul he immediately noticed that the auxiliary soul's core was changing. a normal core was colourless and transparent while his fake cores had a blue tint and a blur to them. the fake core in the auxiliary soul, however, was fading from its normal blue to a strange purple tint and instead of going from blurry to clear, it became more solid until he couldn't even see through it anymore.
