Chapitre 22: Chapter 22 Cannibal

Stepping out of the tunnel, Valarissa emerged onto a new plateau of Dragon Mount. One side of the massive cave mouth yawned open, revealing the vast ocean shimmering under the night sky. The sight sent a shiver of anticipation down her spine. This, she knew, was her destination. The sheer size of the cavern dwarfed any she'd ever seen, whispering of ancient secrets and powerful presences.

Drawn deeper, Valarissa ventured into the cavernous maw. Scattered across the floor were bones, bleached white by time. As she progressed, the bones grew larger, some bearing the unmistakable, elongated shapes of dragons.

The path seemed to lead to a dead end, a monstrous wall that mimicked the texture of dragon scales. Curiosity gnawed at her, and she drew closer, her torch flickering across the ancient bones.

Just as she reached out to touch the wall's scaly surface, the mountain shuddered. A thunderous roar, like a hundred boulders crashing, echoed through the cavern. The wall, under Valarissa's startled gaze, seemed to pulse with life. It wasn't a wall at all, but something far more formidable.

"Cannibal!" Valarissa's voice cracked with a mix of awe and terror. The dragon rose, towering over her with glacial slowness, adrenaline pounding a relentless rhythm in her skull.

It stretched its neck, a pillar of obsidian muscle, unfurling wings like tattered storm clouds. A thunderous roar erupted from its ferocious maw, echoing through the cavern's heart.

Glancing up, Valarissa beheld the full monstrous majesty of the beast. Scales black as the deepest midnight clung to a body the size of a small mountain. Emerald eyes, cold and cruel as a serpent's, locked onto her.

Words failed her. No creature she'd ever encountered, not Vhagar, nor Vermithor, not even the legendary Balerion the Black Dread, could compare to this. This was the Leviathan of dragons, its wingspan eclipsing the cave's mouth, its hide catching flickering firelight like a thousand obsidian mirrors.

Otherworldly emerald flames burned in its gaze, pinning her in place. For a horrifying heartbeat, she braced for the inferno of its breath. But instead, the dragon roared again, a deep, guttural sound that seemed to shake the very earth. Rows of dagger-like teeth gleamed in the echoing roar, a chilling promise of the carnage it could unleash.

"Roar--"

At this time, the glutton let out a low roar, bending its neck downwards like a giant python, sniffing around with its nose, seemingly looking for something.

Valarissa's heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat in the cavernous silence. Instinctively, her hand flew to the hilt of her daggers, though their blades felt pitifully small against the monstrous creature before her. The dragon's roar reverberated through the cave, a living tremor that shook the very bones of the earth. In its presence, she felt like a lone candle flickering in a hurricane.

Though the dragon shared a silhouette with Drogo, the largest of Daenerys' hatchlings, this was a different beast. Older, wilder, its scales black as a moonless night, its horns like twisted spears. Ghostly green eyes, burning with an ancient hunger, locked onto hers.

Taking a deep breath, Valarissa summoned her courage and shouted, her voice echoing through the cavern in High Valyrian, "Cannabil! Look at me!"

The childish plea, lost in the cavern's vastness, seemed to pierce the dragon's fury. Its fiery breath hitched, its immense head swiveling, searching for the source of the sound. Then, the emerald eyes found her, glinting like malevolent stars in the flickering torchlight.

Before Valarissa could utter another word, the dragon lunged. A monstrous maw, lined with teeth longer than palace pillars, roared towards her. Instinctively, she threw herself to the side, the searing heat of the dragon's breath scorching her skin. The air crackled with the stench of sulfur as the dragon's roar filled her ears, a deafening thunderclap that promised oblivion.

Valarissa Targaryen, heart hammering in her chest, scrambled to her feet. The dragon's head, colossal beyond belief, dwarfing even the skull of Balerion the Black Dread that hung in the Red Keep, had missed her by a hair's breadth. Relief flooded her, but it was short-lived. The dragon's roar, a torrent of molten rage, echoed through the cavern, shaking the very stones beneath her feet.

In a desperate gamble, she lashed out in High Valyrian, "Stop! Calm down!" The words, though spoken with the fire of her ancestors, were swallowed by the dragon's fury. It lumbered towards her, a leviathan of scales and teeth, its emerald eyes burning with antediluvian hunger.

Fear, cold and sharp, sliced through her. She had expected Cannabil to be formidable, but this... this was a beast beyond imagining. Vhagar, she now understood, was a mere shadow compared to this ancient horror. Panic threatened to engulf her, her vision blurring with the pounding of her heart.

Then, in that moment of absolute terror, something shifted within her. A sudden coolness, a profound stillness, washed over her. Fear, anger, every emotion that had been swirling within her, evaporated like dew in the morning sun. Her vision sharpened, the world around her coming into crystal clear focus. The dragon, before a terrifying whirlwind of fury, was now a lumbering behemoth, its movements predictable, its rage a distant storm.

She looked upon it not with fear, but with a detached curiosity, like a scholar examining a fascinating specimen.

Valarissa remained stoic, wielding two daggers with a serene demeanor, confronting the colossal dragon.

Her predicament wasn't a result of her potential erupting but rather the activation of her passive talent – the fourth reward granted by the system "Fearless Fighter" .

**Fearless Fighter:**

A passive talent triggered exclusively in moments of extreme fear, anger, or other negative emotions. Upon activation, the host enters an emotionless and rational state, harnessing 100% of their abilities in both the physical and spiritual realms for an hour.

*Hint: Activating more than once a day may impact the host's emotional state.*

With the talent activated, she sensed a profound shift in her persona, awakening a side devoid of emotions and hesitation. Her singular goal: subdue the dragon looming before her.
