With Valyr finally finished with the first of four items needed to complete the trial, the young man did not delay in proceeding onto the next three items.

Though, because of this decision, he inadvertently cut a few corners around some of the steps of the forging process.

And one of those steps was the matter of what items he should forge.

"For the sake of simplicity and speed, let's go with a shield, a pair of knuckles, and a sword." Saying these words to himself, Valyr continued to flatten out the piece of metal he had taken out from the furnace, gradually taking on the rough form of a clipeus.

Of course, even though the young man said these words as if it were a matter of fact, that did not mean that Valyr had come up with the weapons from the get-go.
