Andrew Fray POV:

I sat in the van for a long time after Holly and King left, pondering what seeing them together had made me feel.

It hurt when I saw Holly kiss King. And I mean it really hurt, and I don’t know why.

Maybe it was seeing Holly being affectionate with someone? I knew what her general range of affection was, I’d experienced it myself. Maybe seeing her go further with someone else is what was bothering me. But did that mean I was jealous of King then?

No. No, I wasn't jealous. Holly couldn’t have actual feelings for the person she was here to investigate. Nothing for me to be jealous about.

She did look happy when she kissed him though. But that had to be part of the character she was playing.

Yeah. That had to be it. That had to be it …

This was the thought process I cycled through over and over again. I could deny it as much as I wanted, but the more I went through the cycle, the more the obvious became apparent.
