Chapitre 285: Blooming in the Gardens

Varya let Basileus take the lead when it came to their guests.

She wanted to see what years of being groomed for this position were like. Soon he would be the emperor so she thought he should address the people. 

As he told them of his intention to leave for the evening but that they were welcome to continue drinking throughout the night, Varya hung onto his side and admired the way he commanded a room. He wasn't fake but direct and used a voice that people had no choice but to listen to. 

"Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to enjoy the rest of the evening alone with my fiance," Basileus said and wrapped an arm around Varya's waist. 

The partygoers cheered their praises but soon turned back to their various tasks and the music in the room became louder again.
