Chapitre 43: Vampire Princess 1/2

Lucius's metal greaves slammed into the vampire thralls chest, caving it in and killing the mindless soul with ease. The resounding echo of the squelching of guts and bone reached the vampires ears as they stopped by ritual site, causing them to snarl in disgust at the new entrance.

"More cattle enters." Lokill sneered. "Deal with it." He directed his companion.

No action was taken from the vampire lords orders. No action, but the ripping of ones blade from a throat, as Ciri whipped the blood from her silver plated steel sword.

"I said deal wit- What!?" Lokill's voice run dry as his body crumpled like paper at Lucius whispered shout.

"Kopraan. Kren. Mah" Lucius cast and the vampire's body broke in a loud crunch.

"Dragon language isn't fair...Really unfair." Ciri whined with crossed arms. "How do you even defend against that. You just told the world to crunch him like he was nothing but bone meal."

"Well, I did make it myself. Do you expect any less than amazing?" He winked, rushing to a downed Alvor.

"How is he?" Ciri asked. "I have a potion that rebuilds tissue and stops haemorrhaging." She announced, fumbling with a small pouch on her belt.

"He'll live, but a cure disease would go a long way." Lucius requested, casting a bright gold light down onto Alvor's wounds. "Looks like a spike went through his hand...For the ritual maybe, but why him? Convenience?" Lucius theorised.

"Here." She handed him the potion. "There's some faint magic in these bowls." Ciri said, noticing her thrumming necklace.

"Hmm? Weird." Lucius said, scanning the stone platform. "Lets get him up before we try anything, he's not a fighter." He decided.

"Good idea. I can take him back to his family and come back, it won't be a problem." She informed, joining him by Alvor.

"Are you sure?" Lucius questioned. "We can wait if you're not."

"You should know i can handle myself by now, Luci." She smiled. "It's fine, stop fretting." She said, putting Alvor over her shoulder with a might huff.

"Huuh~ Fine. I'll look around a bit while I wait." He said as she disappeared back to Riverwood in a small flash of green.

"Never should've let her hear the name..." He grumbled as he stood, dusting himself off.

Over the next few minutes of investigation Lucius started playing with the moving pedestals of magic. Unable to identify any of the techniques used, something that chewed away at him and his desire for magical knowledge. Each bowl lighting at different positions with no visible source, or fuel driving the mystic flames of violet hue.

The flames steadily flickered at a stagnating height, climbing no higher than the rim of the basins they settled in. No heat, no burn either when he bathed his hand in them. He immersed himself in their lulling sway in his wait for his chirpy companion, so much so that when she appeared again he leaped out of his skin in shock.

"Fuck!" He jumped back.

"Woah! What happened?!" She went to draw her sword.

"You made me jump." He released a dramatic sigh. "Sorry, my fault." He apologised to the girl.

"Haha, did I scare you~?" She goaded him, wiggling a mischievous hand in his face.

"Oh, shush." He playfully swat her hand away. "These bowls do something, put them in a certain position and flames light with a weird barrier following them." He pointed out the bowl in front of him.

"So, should we align the rest?" She asked. "The purple line seems to show their positions." Ciri said pushing the last bowl into place.

The cavern came to life in an eerie bright flash of purple. The shuddering floor sunk in quaking shifts of stone and magic to reveal a black monolith of perfectly sculpted marble.

"Well, that did something." Ciri muttered.

"Mhm. Something's inside it. Can you feel that?" Lucius said to Ciri, Walking towards the monolith with his sword drawn.

As he got closer a panel slide down revealing a woman.

Smooth raven locks of hair framed her face with two intricate braids, pulled back into a knotted short ponytail. Doll like skin and a lithe figure amplified her beauty in contrast to the dark and regal clothing she adorned.

"Wow." Lucius muttered under his breath.

Lucius stared at the woman. Her head rolled to side, as if she was standing whilst asleep. Ciri's gazed burned into his side as she noticed prolonged stare, making him nervously shuffle on his feet with a half smile.

"Wha- Unh... where is... who sent you here?" The woman's croaky voice rung out as she woke.

"Ahem...Who were you expecting?" Lucius asked after clearing his throat and avoiding Ciri's glare.

"I was expecting someone from my family. I don't recognise you. Are you one of my father's little acolytes?" She asked, carefully scanning the armed duo in front of her.

"Uh, no. Who's your father?" Ciri cut in with a short huff.

"He's a very powerful man. Or he was at one point. I'm surprised another vampire hasn't heard of him." The woman stood, blinking as she shook off her tired eyes.

"We aren't vampires." Lucius sneakily prepared himself for a possible attack.

"But, you stink of deat- Oh." Her words ran short as she eyed the corpses of the dead vampires behind the pair.

"You're a vampire? Where's the arrogant attitude and bloodlust. Or was the nap sufficient" Ciri fiercely prodded.

"Can't you tell? Gods, I smelt you almost before my eyes were open." She grumbled.

"Calm down, Ciri. This might lead us to the problem." Lucius whispered, causing the girl to let out another huff. "Why were you locked away like this?"

"That's... complicated. And I'm not totally sure if I can trust you. But if you want to know the whole story, help me get back to my family's home." The vampire said.

"Back to a den of powerful vampires. Right... I'd say i'm kind, but not to the level of stupidity." Lucius crossed his arms, unimpressed.

"Don't compare me to those feral beasts. I don't kill my saviours." The woman replied, equally unimpressed with the hidden insult.

"Huuh~Fuck it. Where do you need to go?" Lucius conceded.

'We could probably take them. Worst case scenario we flee.' He thought.

"My family used to live on an island to the west of Solitude. I would guess they still do. By the way... my name is Serana. Good to meet you." Serana smiled and offered her hand.

"As long as you don't get in the way." Ciri voiced.

"I was going to say the same thing to you." Serana smiled 'sweetly', her fangs gleaming.

'What have i got myself into now.' Lucius facepalmed.
