Morning light filtered through the trees as Kazuichi stepped outside, the crisp air biting at his skin. He had slept little after the revelations of the previous day, his mind too preoccupied with the looming threat of organized Hybrid attacks. Though the stronghold felt secure for now, he knew it was only a matter of time before they were tested again, and the next attack might not be so forgiving.

Determined to get to the bottom of this mystery—and to sharpen his abilities—Kazuichi had made up his mind to head out alone. There was too much at stake to wait for a larger group to form. Besides, he needed time to himself, to master the elemental powers he had unlocked but still struggled to control.
