Chapitre 14: Confusion
Scorpius woke up in an unfamiliar location. He looked around. Where was he? What had happened? He tried to remember. It was all a bit hazy. He remembered opening the door. But what door? And who was the woman? She was important, he knew that much.
He looked around and tried to rise. Then he noticed that he was handcuffed. He looked down on them, incredulous. Was he back in prison? Back? When had he been in prison? It was all very confusing.
"Good evening, Mr. Malfoy." a voice said behind him. Scorpius looked around and saw an unfamiliar man looking down on him. Malfoy? Yes, that was his name. But he preferred his other name. What was that again?
"Where am I?" he asked. "What happened?"
"You are in the hospital, Malfoy."
"Hospital? Not prison?"
"Why do you think you are in prison?" The man seemed surprised at this. Then he saw the handcuffs. "Ah, we forgot about those. One minute please." A short time later, he came back and removed the handcuffs.
Scorpius looked around. Someone was missing. Someone important that should be here. The woman. Where was she?
"Where is… is…" What was her name? He thought he knew it. She was very important. "Is she safe? Where is she?"
"Where is who?"
"The… the woman. Why isn't she here? I need to know she is safe. Where is she?"
"Do you remember who she is?"
"Yes. She is important, she must be safe." Scorpius started to get a bit irritated now. Why didn't the man just answer the question? Was he keeping the woman away from him?
"She is safe. She may come by later. Do you remember her name?"
"Yes. She's… She's… What is wrong with me?"
"Your brain has been under attack, Scorpius. We need to find out how much you remember."
Scorpius? Yes! That was his name! He knew that. He smiled. The man smiled back at him.
"What is the last thing you remember, Scorpius?"
"I…I opened the door. Why did I open the door? I should have checked who it was first."
"Where was the door?"
"Where? I was… I was at home! I was at home, and I opened the door." He smiled even more, satisfied that he was able to answer the question.
"Very good. Now, who was on the other side of the door?"
Darkness. No, a man. Only one man? Wasn't there more of them?
"We will come back to that later." the man said. Then he proceeded to ask many other questions. Some he knew the answer to right away, others he had no idea. After all the questions he was tired.
"I think that is enough for today." the man, the Healer said. Had he said his name? Scorpius didn't think so. Wasn't that rude?
"You did very well Scorpius. We will talk more tomorrow."
"Can I see her now?"
"Who?"
"The woman? Please, I need to know she is safe."
"She is safe Scorpius. She saved you and many others. But you can't see her yet."
"Why not? Is she angry with me? I don't want her to be angry with me."
"She is not angry with you. But for now, she has other things to do, important things. Don't worry about her."
"Who is she? I know she is important to me, but who is she?"
"You will hopefully remember that in the next few days Scorpius."
"And can I see her then?"
"We will see."
"What about the boy?"
"Boy?"
"Yes, the boy that was with me in school. He is important too, isn't he?"
"Yes. He is your best friend. You may see him in a few days too."
"Is he hurt?"
"Why would you ask that?"
"Someone told me he was hurt. I didn't believe them. Is he hurt?"
The Healer seemed to hesitate. "He was hurt, but he is doing better now. He is safe."
"Is it my fault that he was hurt?"
"No. It is not your fault. You didn't know about it until it was too late."
Scorpius nodded, glad that he hadn't hurt his friend. "What is his name?"
"You may remember that soon as well. Don't worry about that now. Try to get some rest. Does it hurt anywhere on your body?"
"Yes. My… My head hurts. The inside of the head."
"That is understandable. I will see if we can get you a Potion to help you relax."
Scorpius didn't feel like relaxing, but he understood that the Healer wouldn't answer any more questions right now. So, he leaned back and closed his eyes, trying to remember.
In just a few moments, he was asleep again.
