Chapitre 881: The Phoenix Reappears!

Éditeur: Atlas Studios

Presumably to prevent Ivan, Hermione, and Ron from looking for him, Harry went in the opposite direction and soon reached the edge of the Quidditch pitch.

It was late at night and the stadium was empty. The cold wind calmed him down a little.

However, Harry still could not understand why Professor Dumbledore would want him to study Occlumency with Snape, knowing how much the Potions Professor hated him.

Not to mention the many things Tisiphone did for Voldemort…

Harry couldn't help but think of his recent dream of Voldemort, in which Snape was always at his side and they seemed to be looking for something… Urgently!

However, he was unable to share this information with anyone, as Ivan, Hermione, and Sirius had repeatedly warned him not to trust what he saw in his dreams…

If he revealed what he had dreamed, they would nag him.

As for the fact that Professor Dumbledore did not mention him in his will, Harry had moved on.

This was not incomprehensible; Ivan was, after all, far superior to him and would be the one most likely to defeat Voldemort in the future.

What use am I in comparison?

He was only lucky enough to escape from Lord Voldemort.

While Harry was lost in his thoughts, he heard a familiar peal of fairy music from above. Curious, he looked up and saw a golden-red bird perched on a tree, staring at him.

"Fox?!" Harry exclaimed in surprise.

The proud phoenix swooped down from the treetops, circled around him, and flew off toward the Forbidden Forest.

"Do you want me to follow you, Fox?" Harry instinctively took a step forward and asked uncertainly.

The phoenix circled low overhead, chirping as if confirming his suspicions.

Confirming this, Harry followed without hesitation, despite his many doubts.

As the path became more and more remote, Harry felt as if he were entering the depths of the Forbidden Forest, where he was surrounded by darkness and the sound of insects was making him increasingly uneasy.

Luckily, Fox didn't go any further and soon came to a halt in front of a large banyan tree. Panting, Harry took a few steps closer and saw something silvery-grey and liquid-like hanging from the banyan's branches.

"This is…my Invisibility Cloak?!" Harry exclaimed, recognizing it at once.

He did not have time to wonder why the clothes were there. He immediately drew his wand and shouted.

"Split up!"

A thin beam of magic flashed through the air, breaking the banyan's branches and causing the Cloak of Invisibility to fall from its perch.

Harry hurried to take the garment, only to find a square card affixed to the cloak's surface, written in a familiar hand.

[I thought for a long time but couldn't think of anything to leave you, so I had to get your Invisibility Cloak back. I'm sorry I kept it for a few months and couldn't return it to you the moment I found it…]

The card was empty at the end, and did not have any signature, although Harry could tell from the phoenix and the writing that it was written by Professor Dumbledore.

But why didn't the Professor just put it in his will and send the Cloak of Invisibility along with the other relics?

Bewildered, Harry had a vague idea that Professor Dumbledore might have wanted him to see the Cloak of Invisibility alone, otherwise he would not have left it in such a remote location and allowed Fox to bring him here when he was alone.

Harry's idea was soon proven correct, as another line was written on the back of the paper.

[Don't tell anyone about this. Try to trust Severus if you have to…]

Snape again … Harry was more or less depressed, and wondered if Professor Dumbledore would trust him too much.

At the same time, Harry was keenly aware of the hidden meaning behind the messages left behind by Professor Dumbledore, which was that someone close to him had defected to the Dark Lord, which would explain why Dumbledore did not want anyone to know he had found the Cloak of Invisibility again.

But who else could it be but Snape?

Harry's mind flashed with images, but he could not for the life of him believe that any of them would choose to turn their backs on him and join the Dark Lord.

Harry didn't care much for Dumbledore's note about the Invisibility Cloak, as he had no use for it in the past, and was grateful for Dumbledore's help in retrieving it.

This is not an easy task…

Seeing that the sky was darkening, Harry stuffed the Cloak of Invisibility into his robes, then slipped the card into his pocket, ready to retrace his steps by following the distant lights of the castle…

The hovering Fawkes slowly descended from the sky and landed on his shoulder.

"Is there something else you want to tell me, Fox?" Harry asked curiously, turning to look at the golden-red phoenix.

A low peal of fairy music escaped from Fox's mouth, but Harry looked confused — he could not understand the language.

The bird must have realised this and decided not to waste any more time on Harry. It burst into flames and engulfed Harry, causing him and the bird to vanish into thin air.

When Harry returned to his senses, he was in the boys' dormitory.

For some reason, the place seemed empty, with Ivan and the others nowhere to be seen, and Harry looking around for Fox.

Ron's voice suddenly came from the other side of the door, and Harry, remembering Dumbledore's instructions on the card, quickly stuffed his Invisibility Cloak under his bed.

The next moment, the door to the dormitory was pushed open and Ivan, Ron, and Neville entered.

The trio were surprised to see Harry back in the dormitory, and Ron stepped forward and complained, "Where have you been, Harry? We were looking for you at Hagrid's, but you weren't there!"

"I'm sorry, Ron, I just wanted to be left alone for a while…" Harry replied apologetically, wondering if he should tell Ivan, Ron, and Neville about his experience with Lord Voldemort, but unable to do so.
