He glanced back and noticed a horse trailing the caravan. A young woman in white rode on the horse's back.
This woman was exceptionally beautiful, surpassing Li Ruyu in attractiveness. But her charm wasn't just the usual allure, she had an extraordinary, striking appeal.
In her hand, she carried a jug of wine, a long sword hanging from the horse, her lengthy ponytail waving in the wind. In the glow of the setting sun, she looked like a character from a painting, exuding an air of freedom and independence.
The picturesque scene momentarily captivated Fang Zhou. The woman in white rode up to him, playfully whistling to capture his attention.
Snapped back to reality, Fang Zhou realized he was being teased.
The woman in white swung the wine jug in her hand, jesting, "Little brother, you seem so alone. How about a drink with your sister? My treat."
Alone, really?
Fang Zhou shook his head, "Thanks for the offer, but I don't drink."
The woman chuckled again, "Why? Scared of getting sick? Don't worry, my wine won't make you throw up. Although, I can't help if you throw up for other reasons. Haha."
Fang Zhou's expression darkened. Great, another flirty woman speaking without any restraint.
Eventually, the Xuan Ji Sect's disciples at the front took notice of the situation and immediately asked, "What's happening?"
Li Ruyu, leading the group, swiftly turned her horse around and galloped back, fixing the woman in white with a stern look that Fang Zhou had never seen on her previously.
Li Ruyu bowed slightly towards the woman, "We are disciples of the Xuan Ji Sect. May I ask what do you need?"
The woman waved her off, "Nothing, nothing. I just wanted to have a chat with this young man."
Li Ruyu's expression hardened, "Please behave properly and refrain from bothering the lovely male members of the Xuan Ji Sect."
Fang Zhou's face soured even more. Lovely male members? Damn it!
"My apologies."
The woman in white responded nonchalantly, displaying no emotion. She spurred her horse past the caravan and continued her journey ahead.
Fang Zhou noticed that just before she departed, the woman in white sent a wink his way.
Only after the woman had gone did Li Ruyu turn back to Fang Zhou, "These are perilous times, junior brother. Try to keep a low profile to avoid drawing unwanted attention."
Fang Zhou felt his annoyance escalating. Was she blaming him for attracting unwanted attention?
To him, Li Ruyu was the most dangerous among them all.
Damn it, she was so annoying.
"Understood, senior sister."
Fang Zhou responded with a forced smile, feeling as though his acting was worthy of an Oscar.
He then inquired, "Is that woman in white very formidable?"
Li Ruyu shook her head, "It's hard to determine. Best to avoid provoking such individuals in the future."
This incident was but a small interruption, and everyone carried on with their journey.
As dusk descended and night drew near, the caravan reached the foot of a mountain and halted in front of an ancient, dilapidated temple dedicated to the Mountain God, to rest for the night.
The temple's main gate was thoroughly decayed. The carriage was left outside, while the horses were led inside.
The temple was somewhat abandoned, with overgrown weeds sprouting in corners. The interior wasn't spacious, and the statue of the Mountain God was indistinguishable. Wall paintings were chipping and fading.
On the ground in front of the statue lay remnants of burnt wood, presumably left behind by previous travelers.
Several disciples of the Xuan Ji Sect began to establish camp, kindle a fire, and prepare a dinner consisting of dry rations and a few wild animals they had caught along their journey.
These disciples were just ordinary members and were assigned these tasks since their rank wasn't as high as Li Ruyu's.
However, Li Ruyu wasn't idle either. She was engaged in inscribing a few concealed talismans and taking precautionary measures around the temple to ward off evil. This was a crucial safeguard when spending the night in the wilderness; otherwise, restless spirits and monsters could emerge at night.
After concluding her preparations, Li Ruyu joined the other disciples, exchanging their experiences and insights regarding cultivation. The others would ask questions, and Li Ruyu, being more advanced, would provide answers.
Fang Zhou didn't join them. Instead, he opted to seclude himself in a side hall, which was tidy but had a hole in the wall covered with thatch to provide protection against the wind.
Inside the side hall was a broken statue with a dog's head lying on the floor.
After a while, Li Ruyu brought some food over to the side hall and didn't leave after putting it down.
Under her explicit stares, Fang Zhou lost his appetite and only took a few hurried bites before stopping.
"Junior Brother, why are you eating so little?"
"Heh, I don't have an appetite."
With an air of casual ease, Li Ruyu seized Fang Zhou's hand, saying fondly, "Junior Brother, you must take good care of yourself. If you're tired, your Senior Sister will feel troubled."
Goosebumps erupted all over Fang Zhou's body. He retracted his hand, responding awkwardly, "I'll take care, Senior Sister."
Li Ruyu leaned closer to Fang Zhou until their faces were nearly touching. "Junior Brother, with your Senior Sister treating you so kindly, how will you repay me?"
Quickly, Fang Zhou backed away, saying, "If Senior Sister needs anything in the future, just tell me. I'll certainly help."
Li Ruyu chuckled softly, "I need a favor from you, Junior Brother."
Fang Zhou offered a forced laugh, "What sort of favor?"
Please don't tell me she wants me to help extinguish her inner fire.
Li Ruyu extended her bright red tongue, licked her lips, and fixed her gaze directly on Fang Zhou, saying, "I made an error during my cultivation, and now there's a fire raging inside me. Can you help me extinguish it, Junior Brother?"
Fang Zhou was taken aback, having not expected Li Ruyu to be so direct.
[A New mission triggered]
[Difficulty: Normal]
[Reward: Masculinity *4 Blue Card *1]
[Failure: Lost your virginity]
Fang Zhou hadn't anticipated a new mission to trigger at such a crucial moment. He had no time to process it as Li Ruyu was already rushing towards him, arms open.
With a swift sidestep, Fang Zhou implored, "Senior Sister Li, please uphold your dignity. I doubt our Master would condone such behavior."
Mentioning their Master made Li Ruyu hesitate.
She rose, adjusted her attire, and said, "You're right, Junior Brother. I acted impulsively. Please don't mention this to our Master. Rest up; we have an early start tomorrow."
She bestowed upon Fang Zhou a lingering, enigmatic smile, then departed from the side hall.
Fang Zhou heaved a sigh of relief. The event he had been worried about had finally happened. This lustful woman really tried to force him, but why did she give up so easily?
Moreover, the newly activated mission hadn't indicated a completion. Although it was labeled as 'normal difficulty,' the prior mission was deemed 'easy.' How could a 'normal' mission prove easier than an 'easy' one?
As he pondered, a chilling realization struck him.
Could she be plotting a return tonight? Merely mentioning the Master might not hold her off for long.
Should I run?
The thought lingered. If he did decide to run, it was almost certain he couldn't outrun Li Ruyu. Plus, she'd established an alarm system around the temple, ensuring she'd be alerted if he attempted to escape.
As the clock ticked, Fang Zhou racked his brain for a solution but found none. He could only feel his body growing increasingly hotter, even breaking out in a sweat.
His mind also became somewhat foggy, and drowsiness washed over him like a wave.
But he immediately realized something was wrong. His energy had been replenished, and he'd spent the entire day seated in a carriage. There was no reason for him to feel this exhausted.
He forcefully bit his tongue, employing pain to resist the drowsiness.
After struggling for over an hour, the wave of sleepiness finally began to retreat.
But immediately after, his skin turned hot and red.
"Was... was there something added to the food I ate tonight?"
"That's right!"
Li Ruyu's voice suddenly came from outside the side hall, startling Fang Zhou.
He swiftly turned his head, only to witness Li Ruyu strolling in from outside.
She was dressed solely in sheer gauze, leaving nothing to the imagination, affording Fang Zhou a clear view.
"What did you put in?"
"An aphrodisiac," she replied, "I added an aphrodisiac."
With a self-satisfied smirk, Li Ruyu began to close the distance between them.
Fang Zhou retreated, warning, "Stay back, or I'll scream."
Li Ruyu chuckled, "Go ahead, scream your lungs out. No one will come to save you."
Damn, not this cliché again.
Fang Zhou seethed internally. He recognized the futility of his situation. Li Ruyu had no reservations, the area was isolated, and the disciples outside were loyally aligned with her, unlikely to intervene.
As Li Ruyu neared, her eyes shimmered with a dangerous red hue, and her breaths became erratic. "I didn't want it to come to this, Junior Brother. But you've left me no choice. Don't worry, after tonight, you'll belong to me. And I believe, in time, you'll forgive me."
