The medical facility, though it wasn’t as big as the stadium, it was still really impressive. The interior design was beautifully designed with white tiled walls and a nicely decorated grey floor tile. A series of hospital beds where lined up in an organized manner across the each medical room; lying on these beds were Nao and Ray, and a health warden was attending to each of them.
There weren’t really attached to any medical health care device, because there was no need for them. The health wardens were users of the healing divine power, which very much did all the work in terms of healing and other battle injuries.
The health wardens placed their hands above Nao and Ray; they said a quick, but silent chant and a bright light started to emit from their palms. The light spread around the unconscious body of both Nao and Ray, and after some time, they woke up. The same thing was happening to Kelvin on a different part of the medical room. The light gave of a warm feeling of comfort and satisfaction; they checked Kelvin for any injuries and surprisingly, Kelvin hadn’t sustained a single one. Kelvin had already self-healed all his injuries a while ago, so there really wasn’t any healing to be done.
They performed the same divine healing for both Carl and Nathan; after they were done with the healing and everyone was in good condition, they escorted all of them back to the stadium, for scoring and point assessment. The point assessment was the deciding factor of the exam. If a particular candidate didn’t get a good enough amount of points, they would be failed and asked to try again next year.
They were taken to a large hall room; the hall room was in a different location from the spectator area of the stadium. Inside this hall room was a wide screen display, which was stationed on the wall right on top of a stage like platform. Seated on this stage were two male individuals. One of the individuals was a bald headed, brown skinned man with a muscular body structure. The second individual was a slightly plump, but hefty man, around his early forties. The two of them were dressed in the standard demon hunting uniform.
The practical examination had ended a while ago; some of the candidates were able to make it to the green beacon on time, before they got disqualified. However, those that weren’t able to reach the green beacon before the time ran out, were told to wait in a plane hangar, so that they would be taken back home. The hall room was currently filled with less than half of the candidates that came to partake in the practical exam.
“I’m so nervous; I hope I earned a good amount of points, because I don’t want to take this stupid exam again next year.” Carl said.
Kelvin was feeling quite nervous too; although he wasn’t super hyped about the exam in the first place. He had the feeling of butterflies in his stomach, and it was only natural for him to feel that way. It would be a real disappointment, if he didn’t get a good score; after all he had gone through a lot.
Kelvin looked at his new found friends. Ray, just like Carl, had a nervous look on his face. Nao on the other hand didn’t really have any kind of expression on her face; it was like she wasn’t scared or nervous at all. As for the new addition to their little party, Nathan, he had a face that was hard to read so Kelvin didn’t really know if he was nervous or not.
The brown skinned demon hunter was the first to speak.
“Hello, exam candidates. My name is Morgan Sylvester, and I am a head teacher in this fine establishment.”
“The man seated next to me is the examiner, and he goes by the name, Chad Kochman; and after a proper analysis, we have determined your individual scores.” The brown skinned demon hunter, Sylvester concluded.
“Yes, my colleague is right.” The examiner, Chad Kochman added.
“We gave out points to each of the exam candidates for every single kill. A point threshold or cutoff mark was not announced, because we had other scoring methods put in place, for you the candidates, to earn extra points.”
“Killing a demonic beast wasn’t the only point earning factor in this exam. We also gave out points, based on your actions, and good battle decision making.” Sylvester continued.
“Now without wasting much time, we would like to display your individual scores and performance.”
The wide screen display on the wall came to life, after that. It displayed the different scores of each of the exam candidate, present in the hall room.
“We would like to first of all, call out the top scorers of this examination. So if you hear your name, please step out.”
“The candidate with the highest score is, Jason Ferris.”
After the name was mentioned, a handsome looking, blonde haired guy walked out. Some of the exam candidates began to murmur to themselves, as he walked out.
“Isn’t he the son of Michael Ferris, one of the top members of the hunter’s council?” One of the exam candidates said to another.
“Yeah, he is; I didn’t expect anything less from him. He must have been training to be a demon hunter since he was a kid.” The other exam candidate replied.
Similar discussions about this Jason Ferris was been talked about by the exam candidates, until the head teacher called everyone to order.
“That guy is really popular; do you know him?” Kelvin asked Carl.
“Nope, I’ve never heard of him.” Carl replied.
“The next candidate following him is, Nathan Fisher.” The head teacher continued.
Nathan causally stepped out, but unlike Jason, no one really said anything special about him. Nathan stood next to Jason, by the side of the hall, next to the stage.
“And the next is, Carl Barrett.”
Hearing his name, all the nervousness from before, quickly vanished as he walked out.
“Next up is, Ray Hugh.”
Hearing his name, Ray walked out and joined the others.
“Following him is, Veronica Aera.”
A cheery and bright looking girl with a short, hazel colored hair stepped out.
“Nao Kaito.”
Hearing her name, Nao causally stepped out.
Hearing the name of all his friends being called, and not him, was making the imaginary butterflies in Kelvin’s stomach to go wild. He was really tensing up, with anxiety and nervousness.
‘Did I not pass the exam? Does this mean I have to go back to the antique shop? The demon hunters will surely find me if I go back.’ These were the thought currently going on in his mind. He was starting to lose hope, until he heard the head teacher say:
“And the last candidate on the list is, Ken Wilson.”
At first, Kelvin didn’t register this because he hasn’t fully gotten used to people calling him by his fake name yet.
“Ken Wilson, please step out.”
It was around the second time, that he remembered his fake name, and quickly responded.
“Oh, umm… present. I’m sorry for the delay.” Kelvin said, awkwardly as he stepped out.
“These are the top scorers in this examination.” The examiner continued.
“We especially commend Nathan, Carl, Ray, Nao, and Ken, for their excellent team work, during the examination.”
“Team work is of high importance in the demon hunting organization, so we highly recommend it.” The head teacher added.
“The point, cutoff mark is 500. The rest of you should check your scores on the screen; if your score is higher than the designated cutoff mark, then you pass. If not, then I’m sorry, but you have to try again next year.” Chad, the examiner said, addressing the rest of the exam candidates.
