Chapitre 93: Chapter 92: Zarah's Past

She bumped into a male staff using the fire exit. She took the opportunity and knocked him off.

The poor staff passed out without even knowing what had happened.

She stripped his clothes off and took them, including his ID and shoes.

Zarah was lucky to bump into one of the managers.

Zarah headed to the bathroom first to change her outfit.

She pulled the paper from her bag, which had an "Out of Order" sign.

She taped it on the main door before she entered. She locked the door first before she went inside a cubicle.

She went out after getting dressed.

She opened her backpack and grabbed her makeup kit.

She had to copy the man's face so no one would suspect her disguise.

After an hour of painstakingly applying her makeup, she copied the manager's appearance.

"I'm heading upstairs," she said while wearing gloves.

"Okay. Be careful," Olivia said on the other line.

She hacked the CCTV and played a previous recording on the loop.

Zarah headed to the first room Olivia mentioned.

They occupied two units on the third floor.

She found a cart in the hallway and started pushing it. She used it to hide her bag and her gun.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door.

"Room service!" Zarah announced.

She waited for a moment before she opened the door forcefully.

She pressed her ears near the door to check for movements inside.

When she heard no movements, Zarah decided to open the door forcefully.

She was greeted by an explosion the moment she opened the door.

*Boom!* Zarah was caught off-guard.

"Zaza!" Olivia, who was listening from the other line, yelled in panic.

She lost Zarah's signal and the CCTV coverage, too.

"What's wrong?!" Kelsey was alarmed, too.

"Zaza's in danger!"

"What?!"

Olivia and Kelsey dropped everything that they were doing and then headed to Gil Hotel.

Kelsey was driving the car. Meanwhile, Olivia was monitoring the situation on her laptop.

Meanwhile, Zarah was thrown out and hit her back against the wall because of the impact.

The emergency alarm was activated. All the guests panicked and stormed out of their rooms.

Good thing the third floor was empty other than the three of them.

Zarah knew that she had to finish the mission before everyone gathered on the floor.

She got up and checked the inside of the room and found it empty.

Zarah cursed. She then moved to the next door.

The impact of the explosion damaged the door of the adjacent unit.

Zarah kicked the door. She found the room pitch black.

However, she sensed someone was looking at her.

She closed her eyes and relied on her sense of hearing. The explosion hurt her ear, too. However, she placed her bet on it.

She had to focus.

The next second, she heard hurried footsteps coming to her.

She dodged to the right to avoid it.

The second person in the room fired the gun. Zarah was unlucky, and the bullet pierced through the top of her shoulder.

The first person attacking her kept her occupied.

She grabbed the butterfly knife she was hiding on her legs and threw it.

The man managed to avoid her attack.

They were great opponents.

It had been a long time since she went on the field.

Her movements became a little rusty.

However, Zarah was not discouraged.

Even though she was injured and bleeding, she fought them head-on.

She managed to grab her first attacker's hand and broke it. She grabbed another dagger and slit the neck.

Blood spurted from the wound, and the attacker fell dead.

Her sharp hearing finally returned, and she used it to her advantage.

She grabbed her gun and fired at where the opponent was hiding.

Zarah fired multiple shots, and she managed to hear a groan. The next second, she heard something falling to the floor. The man was cursing.

"You son of a b*tch!"

'Oh! So it was the man. Therefore, the other person I killed was the woman.' she thought.

She could feel another movement from the person, and she fired again.

This time, another object fell on the ground.

Zarah was sure that she got the man's other arm.

She walked to where the opponent was hiding. The room was dark, with the curtains pulled down.

She could feel some movements, and she shot at the person's legs.

She was hoping she got his legs. Just like how she was hoping she shot his arms.

Another groan came from the man, which meant she didn't kill him.

Everything happened so fast. It took three minutes to finish the job.

She had to hurry. The emergency responders would be coming any time soon.

"What do you want?" The man struggled to ask.

He was struggling with the pain.

Zarah smirked in thought.

To hide her identity, Zarah decided to lower her vocal tone.

"Tell me who booked you today," she spoke like a man.

"I don't know what you're saying, man!"

He tried to deny it.

"Are you taking me a fool? Aren't you paid to assassinate Xavier Lockhart today?"

"Yes, we did. But we failed."

"Then, tell me who hires you." Zarah was getting impatient.

"I don't know!"

Zarah was not surprised. This type of transaction happened. Assassins would take cash from an anonymous client. Then they should not underestimate this enemy.

Zarah had ways to track him down. However, she wanted to hear this from him to lessen the time.

"Where did you meet him?"

He was silent.

Zarah knew that she would not get anything from the man.

Whoever the man was, he was willing to protect the person with his life.

Zarah felt touched by this act. However, it didn't gain her sympathy.

Zarah decided to end his misery.

She grabbed the butterfly knife, which she had thrown and missed, and used it to kill him.

Blood gushed out from the deep cut she left.

She flicked the knife and wiped it clean with his clothes.

Other than the bullets in their bodies, Zarah gathered everything. Then, she put them inside her bag.

Zarah had the intention of burning the room to erase her marks.

She remembered she had a bleeding shoulder. Hence, she was afraid the authorities would identify her.

Although Jackson was on their side, she didn't want to take chances. She knew how dirty the politics were up top.

She didn't want to place Jackson in a tight position.

She removed her gloves and placed them inside a plastic bag before putting them in the bag. Zarah touched her shoulder next. The wound was bleeding.

She grabbed Isaiah's clothes and stuffed them inside the blazer. She placed them over her shoulder to absorb the blood and avoid further leaking.

She grabbed a pair of extra gloves and wore them.

Zarah found a bottle of champagne. She twisted the cup and opened it. She poured the remaining contents on the carpet. Zarah pulled her lighter and set the carpet on fire.

She could hear movements outside. She knew she had to hurry. She grabbed her bag and opened the window.

She looked down and saw how deep it was below the window.

It looked taunting for amateurs. However, she was not an amateur. Zarah knew she had to jump, nevertheless. Otherwise, they would catch her.

Zarah tossed the bag behind her back. She then slid down the PVC pipe.

Zarah landed on the ground safely. She looked up at the room she sat on fire, and a cold smile flashed on her disguised face.

Zarah was never merciful to the people who wronged her.

Isaiah's parental care and love had taught her how to love and soften.

However, she knew what kind of person she was before that.

She was a child trained to kill. She was taught not to have emotions. Emotions were a sign of weakness. From what she heard from the seniors, she was a few days old when their leader took her in.

Their leader, whom she thought was her father, had raised her to be the perfect weapon.

At the age of six, she learned everything. She was fearless, emotionless, and obedient. She was the leader's favorite.

At the age of seven, their leader sent her to the field on her first mission. She was not alone. She was with Kelsey. Kelsey had a speech defect. Regardless, she was great on missions.

They managed to kill the target. However, they bumped into Dr. S's mother. Her subordinates called her Mistress. However, she had many aliases, and one of those was E.

E took them in and sent them to rehabilitation. She wanted to help the young Zarah and Kelsey. The former saw her young self on Zarah and Kelsey.

E brought them to a concentration camp. There, they received appropriate therapy and counseling. They didn't know who they were, so they were given nicknames.

Zarah could not accept that everything she believed was a lie. However, she had to learn it the hard way. The same happened to Kelsey.

Since she was older than Zarah, it took time for the therapist to gain her trust.

Both children suffered trauma. Kelsey's speech defect was a result of the trauma.

There were a few children like them in that camp.

They suffered the same dark past.

This camp trained young talents. They would end up working for Dr. S's family.

Others got the chance to work outside when they reached the legal age. However, they should not turn their back on Dr. S's family.

Their family was related to both Interpol and the underworld.

Nonetheless, they were good people. However, Zarah had developed trust issues. She tried to avoid getting attached.

When she was eight, she met the young Dr. S. The latter formed great connections with her.

The young Dr. S treated her well. So the former's mother allowed the young Dr. S to take Zarah as her subordinate.

Zarah could not function well without someone commanding her.

It took her time to break that habit.

She met the twins at that concentration camp, too.

The Irving twins had always been adorable.

They trained together and bonded a little. Kelsey loosened up and joined them, too.

When she was nine, the General from the military came to E for assistance.

Other than Dr. S' siblings, they were the top trainees in the camp.

The quartet volunteered to participate in the mission.

The General was against it at first. However, they proved to have a crucial role during missions.

They were quick and agile. Also, the enemies would not suspect them.

They carried out missions together, and it was a success despite their age.

Their last mission was to the syndicate that raised her for six years.

They had to rescue the other children and arrest the leader. The same person she had recognized as her father for six years.

The mission was a success. The leader got arrested, and they took down the entire organization.

They didn't expect that when they returned to the camp, they would have good news.

Dr. S' mother managed to find their families. Therefore, they had to go home.

They had finished the training with flying colors. Their therapy sessions were over. They passed the evaluation long ago. Therefore, they were fit to reunite with their family.

The quartet had mixed feelings about it.

Kelsey was six when she got separated from her family. The Irving twins were five when it happened to them.

Meanwhile, Zarah was expressionless. She had never met her biological family.

Her trust issues discouraged her from forming bonds with E. She thought she was there to use her as a weapon. She preferred her over her former guardian, though.

Nevertheless, she could not trust her completely. She didn't want to raise her expectations.

While the three were packing, Zarah was talking to E.

Zarah's had to stay behind since they could not find her family yet.

However, should she wish to go, E would not stop her. She had found the perfect candidate to be her new family.

Zarah had decided to leave and agreed to E's arrangements.

She realized that there was a big world outside. She wanted to explore it.

The young Dr. S had stopped visiting the camp, too. Staying behind would make her lonely.

The quartet arrived at Bridge Wood City on a private plane. Then, E's contact in Country A mixed them with the rescued children.

That was how they managed to reunite with their families.

Zarah met Isaiah at the orphanage a few months after.

Among the four, Zarah found it hard to adjust. The people in the orphanage had a prejudice against her.

Good thing her psychologist was there to help her.

The siren of the firetruck and the police snapped her back to the present.

She rushed to the parking lot to get Xavier's big bike.

Good thing she managed to get it.

Meanwhile, Olivia managed to erase Zarah's presence in the footage.

Kelsey and Olivia patiently waited for Zarah outside.

They could not reach her via phone.

The next second, they saw a motorbike heading toward them.

It was Zarah!

They hurriedly opened the car door, and Zarah tossed her bag in the backseat.

"Oh my gosh! Zaza! You're hurt."

"Get in! I'll take the motorcycle." Kelsey told her.

Zarah didn't protest and got inside the car. Olivia shifted into the driver's seat.

"We have to bring her to the hospital," Kelsey said.

"I agree."

"No. Bring me to your apartment." Zarah protested.

Zarah hated hospital rooms. Well, they all did.

"Okay." Olivia started the car, and Kelsey followed behind them.

Zarah didn't take any time to rest.

"I might be in trouble with the police now, Liv," Zarah confessed.

"I need full details," Olivia demanded an explanation.

Zarah hummed.
