Chapitre 33: Chapter 29 A living ice
Licht extended his hands which were frostbitten by the extreme coldness. Although Licht felt a little uncomfortable when he saw his blue arms, he was rather alright. His body was moving perfectly fine.
Licht clenched his one fist and he found it was reacting to his thoughts even better than before. He creased his eyebrows because he couldn't figure out the real reason.
" What happened to me?"
He asked in a low tone. His confusion was all over his face.
Regina sipped her tea calmly as she relaxed after seeing Licht's recovery. She was worried about Licht as soon as she saw his body which was covered by a huge chunk of ice. It was abnormal ice that could extinguish the fire spell and chill down everything around it.
Regina recognized this ice type directly. It was the true ice which was famous for its overbearing power. Therefore, she immediately used her emergency potion on him.
" Are you alright?"
Regina said with a gentle tone. Unlike her elegant look, she looked like a haggard woman who looked on brink of the breakdown. Her dark blue hair was messy and her face was pale as ice.
Licht couldn't help but be concerned about her. He scratched his head.
" Captain, are you mad at me?"
He said with a light tone. Regina looked into his eyes as she was afraid he would go away. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder to show her concern.
" Don't die. Licht, you are the first subordinate under my command."
Licht understood her concerns. She was traumatized by his condition. Moreover, she cared about her squad members more than her mission. Honestly, she would abandon this mission if one of their squad members fell into a critical situation.
Crack*
The fire was crackling like gunpowder on the battlefield. Licht could see her earnest eyes filled with expectations and hope, she wanted to get his promise.
Licht fell into silence and opened his mouth.
" I will take care of myself. I have plenty of responsibilities already."
Regina sighed with relief. Her heart felt relief after this tiresome event. She lay down on the ground and looked up.
" Licht, have I told you that this is my first squad? Originally, I was an officer in the capital city, but due to my personality, nobody liked me. I always placed justice more than balance, hence nobles and my colleagues hated me. Only my parents supported me until the end. They were one of the most influential nobles in the capital."
She said with a smile. Her smile was full of pride and joy. She was proud of her parents who were praised by the citizens.
" That's why I promised that I will return to the capital with my most loyal people to help them."
She turned her head around and looked into his eyes. Licht shrugged his shoulders and laid down next to her. His platinum hair was dazzling under the illumination of the fire.
His amber eyes looked like burning under this light. He closed his eyes and relaxed his body.
Whoo*
Suddenly, he heard a snoring sound next to him. He found Regina sleeping peacefully next to him.
Licht gently touched her hair, and got up. He took off his coat and placed it on her.
" Good night."
He whispered silently as he went outside.
Swoosh*
The wind was blowing as usual. Licht felt refreshed while standing in the snow. He saw Mikael and Daemon who was guarding the tent.
" Did you guys hear everything?"
Daemon laughed awkwardly while Mikael dodged his gaze.
" Vice-captain, you almost died on your first mission."
Daemon teased him. His white teeth were dazzling under the moonlight as it was the lantern. Mikael almost lost his composure. He placed his hand on his mouth to conceal his smile.
Licht's forehead was filled with blacklines. He took a deep breath.
" You seem to have a death wish. Fine, you will be on the night guard for the rest of our mission days."
Daemon's complexion collapsed. He bowed his proud head to concede his defeat.
Mikael sighed at his look.
" By the way, how is your body? The ice melted away like butter out of nowhere. I was surprised to see that."
