1 day have passed since Licht had departed from his home. Usually, he would make it in a few hours to Windsor fortress, which is the largest western fortress in the whole Stormwind kingdom.
It is around 200 meters square, which is colossal for a fortress. However, this wasn't the overall size of the fortress. The fortress had 4 outer wall segments where most of the merchandises were stationed with highly developed infrastructure system. Basically, the fortress also functions as a commercial city as well.
Neigh*
Light hopped out from the carriage and bid his farewell to the carriage owner. The owner didn't mind him as he pulled away his carriage to the inspection area. He waved his hand and went slowly to the line.
Licht directly walked to the gate. There were two guards with blue uniforms. One of them had a sword while the other one had a rifle.
The guard gazed at him and raised his hand.
" Hold! Show your ID card and receipt."
Licht didn't buy the receipt, so he had to walk back to the window where the tax officer had stationed. It was a normal-looking hut like thing.
Knock*
He knocked on the door and waited for the response.
" Please come in."
He opened the door and entered the hut. Interior wasn't luxurious. There were only two chairs and one table which is used for the documents.
The officer was a young woman with a pretty face. She had beautiful dark blue hair and eyes. Her face showed her displeasure. She extended her hand.
" Please give me your ID card and 2 silver coins."
Licht took out a golden coin with his ID card, and he gave it to her. Officer didn't changer her face as she was used to seeing a golden coin daily. She took out 8 silver coins with a paper.
Stamp*
She stamped on the paper and handed his ID card.
Licht didn't think much as he turned around to the exit.
" By the way, don't use your sword in the fortress. Violence is strictly prohibited here. This is a friendly reminder for the new people."
Licht nodded with a grateful look and proceeded to the exit. He waved his hand and got out from the hut.
Officer blew her hair and placed her face on the table. She was really bored to work here.
" Ah, I want to become an officer or a knight. Why would they give me this boring job?"
Licht walked to the gate and took out his ID card and receipt. The guards nodded at him and let him through the gate.
Licht walked into the fortress and saw a bustling street. People were either walking or sitting in the carriages. Of course, only rich people were in the carriage because they were expensive.
Licht's face lit up as he took a step forward. This was the beginning of his journey. He knew he would meet numerous things in his journey.
" Hey there! Would you like to hire a guide? I will only take one silver for the cost."
A young teenager with brown hair approached him with a smile. He had an honest looking face and smile unlike the people around here, and he wasn't really scamming him.
Licht heard the price and immediately agreed because he heard Richard's words before. Richard said it costs a silver coin to hire a guide in the big city.
" Please do so. How can I call you?"
The boy smiled brightly with his white teeth. It looked cute to Licht.
" Call me Ted. They call me Teddy because of my brown hair."
Licht held back his laughter when he heard this. Honestly, this was really a good nickname for him. He looked like a teddy bear.
" Then, Ted, I am Licht. I came from Dark forest."
Ted nodded. He wasn't surprised to hear such words.
" Dark forest is a dangerous place, but it should be sage in the outer forest, right?"
Licht nodded with agreement. He grinned.
" Yes, you are right."
Ted didn't say further as he dragged him away. His pace wasn't either fast or slow. He patiently introduced the buildings around the fortress with a calm look.
" This is our first place to visit. It is fortress master building where most of the government related services are available. You can get special licenses like driving, flying, or something like that."
