"Zorua!"
Vic was shocked to see Zorua there. He realised that Zorua must have been following him secretly using his illusion ability. If it weren't for Zorua's intervention, he didn't know what would have happened to him.
Although Vic wanted to give Zorua a big hug for saving him, he had a more pressing matter to deal with.
The moment Zorua showed up, the thugs began shaking in fear. They didn't know the kid had a Pokemon with him.
While the gangsters were having regrets over their actions, Vic was debating whether to kill these guys or let them go. But, it seemed a bit too much to kill them. He was still experiencing nightmares about the first time he killed someone.
"Do you want to live?" Vic asked, to which they nodded. "I will give you a chance. Take out all your belongings and I promise I will let you go."
"Are you sure you're not going to kill us?" asked one of the thugs.
Vic didn't want to answer such a stupid question. If they wanted to die, then so be it. He might throw up a little bit, but he would not hesitate to slit their throats in the slightest if they wouldn't give in.
"What are you still doing there standing in a daze? Kevin, go and get all our stuff. Hurry up!" the leader yelled at a guy who had just finished tending to the injured gangster. He was very scared right now. Vic still hadn't put away the knife from him.
Among them, Vic could see that Kevin was the kindest among them all. After hearing the leader's order, Kevin nodded hurriedly and left the alley.
With Zorua standing guard, Vic calmly let go of the man and found a place to sit down.
"Ha… Ha…"
Ten minutes later, Kevin returned with a lot of things in his hands as well as a bag on his back. He came in front of Vic and put all the stuff in front of him, including the bag he was carrying.
Meanwhile, Zorua was lying next to Vic, eyeing the gangsters with interest and playful eyes. The thugs didn't even dare to raise their heads. The vulpine Pokemon was observing them as though they were toys to be played with, a fitting character of a dark-type Pokemon.
Vic had no intention of stopping Zorua. He was looking at the trophies he had earned. After sorting them out, he found that the gangsters owned a lot of valuable things, including some cash.
But when he inspected the bag, Vic unexpectedly discovered that it was actually a space backpack. Although it was the cheapest model, it was still very expensive.
This made Vic very curious. Where did these guys get this bag?
The leader, who saw Vic's eyes gazing at them, quickly said, "We stole this bag from a trainer."
"You stole this bag? Really? How did you manage to defeat a trainer with a Pokemon?" Vic asked with a sceptical look.
"We duped him into buying a worthless rock." It was Kevin who answered.
Vic nodded. In this case, it was possible. It would be strange if they could beat a Pokemon with their bare hands yet struggle against a kid like him.
Now that Vic had sorted everything out, he had to figure out what to do with these people next. It was impossible to simply let them go. He still remembered how these guys tried to rob him.
"I'll only give you half a day to leave this city right now. If I see you here again, I swear I'll find you and kill you. Do you understand?" Vic said using Liam Neeson' persona,
"Yes!" the thugs yelled and ran out of the alley, tripping over their own feet.
"Huh? Why didn't you leave?" Vic asked Kevin, who remained behind and wore an unsure expression as if he was going through a struggle.
"Can I stay here and not leave? I still have family here in the city. If I go, I won't be able to look after them," Kevin told him.
"Sure but what can you do for me?" Vic asked.
Kevin pondered this for a second before saying firmly, "You can ask me to do anything. I'll do my best to complete them all."
"Are you certain? Then, here's what I'd like you to do..."
After telling Kevin to do some errands for him, Vic collected all the spoils he got this time and together with Zorua, they left for home but not before giving Kevin his home address.
As Vic was walking, he had to stop for a short break and let Zorua down from his shoulder. He was carrying a lot of heavy stuff.
After returning home, Vic put all the items on a table and went to the kitchen to take out some of the food he had prepared earlier during the day. Although he wanted to try to make the pokeblock now, he was very tired.
Zorua would have to wait and could only eat the regular food. Fortunately, store bought Pokemon food was quite delicious. Zorua had trouble eating it.
While they were having their dinner, Vic noticed that Zorua's fur that he had shaved off had begun to grow back. Likewise, the wounds were starting to close. He believed it wouldn't be long before Zorua fully recovered.
Vic tentatively tried to reach out his hand to Zorua to thank him for rescuing him today. However, he was met with Zorua's threatening growl.
He slowly pulled his hand back and shrugged in defeat. Although his care over the past few days had led Zorua to view himself as a friend, there was still a long way to go before Zorua could accept him as his trainer.
After they had finished eating, Vic carried the plates back to the kitchen and left them in the sink. He was very tired right now, especially after what happened earlier. He then took a quick wash, changed into his sleepwear and lay down on the bed.
Vic quickly fell asleep. It wasn't until the afternoon of the next day that he was woken up by the sound of someone knocking on the door.
