Believe it or not, I was expecting something a lot worse than that...
I let out the breath that I was holding and visibly sagged on the ground I was sitting on.
But a small smile did adorn my face.
I had seen many movies with Psychics and whatnot.
I knew they were powerful. After all, the power to play with people's heads and to move objects with your mind was... useful to say the least (ignoring the ethical dilemmas of it).
But what really opened me up to the possibilities of that power was the show Mob Psycho 100 and Saiki K.
I just wouldn't be able to explain to you guys just how overpowered both Shigeo and Saiki were, but believe me when I say it.
They were the definition of OP.
[Psychic] class should grant me the ability to manipulate the psionic forces of the universe.
Using Telekinesis at it's most highest, one was able to even control the molecules and atoms to do anything they wanted.
Using Telepathy at it's highest, one was able to lobotomize the entire population of the planet in just a few minutes or perhaps even see into the future and the past!
At their highest, they were god-like powers to say the least.
-And now, I had the potential for them.
But... I still had a choice. I could choose to deny this and go back to choose the [Mage] option or I could move forward with [Psychic] class.
[Would you like to choose the [Psychic] class?
Accept?/Deny?]
Surprisingly, I didn't have to think much before deciding.
I chose the [Psychic] class without hesitation.
Once I selected [Accept], a new tab popped up in front of me.
[You have chosen [Psychic] class!]
[Psionic Energy has been granted!]
[Levelling system has been unseal..]
I had tuned out the notifications, as I had felt the calming and cool sensation of the Psionic Energy flowing into my brain...
Stretching it, enhancing it, and ultimately improving it to unknown levels.
...
Once I came down from my high, I checked the leftover notification.
The list wasn't big, as there was just one left that I hadn't managed to see prior to my high.

[Telekinesis: Rank: D (The power to move objects with your mind. You would only be able to move small and light objects for now.)]
[Telepathy: Rank: D (The power to read or manipulate people's minds. You could only read the surface thoughts of people for now.)]
[Psionic Constructs: Rank: D (You could create constructs using Psionic Energy. You could only create small objects for now and they would be very easy to break.)]
'Interesting.' I thought as I rubbed my chin.
It seems that I could only choose one for now. And I would have to unlock the rest in the future.
All of these were very powerful and useful skills, of that there was no doubt.
So, what [Skill] would be the best to start with? Was it [Telekinesis]? Or [Telepathy] maybe? Maybe even [Psionic Construct]?
'So many decisions...'
After thinking a bit, I removed [Psionic Construct] from the list. I didn't want such a flashy power right now when I was weak. It was better to get something basic but more subtle first.
Now the choice was between [Telekinesis] and [Telepathy].
To many, [Telekinesis] would be the obvious choice. Afterall, I could easy explain it away as inheriting it from my mother and it also provided me with some offensive ability.
But... [Telepathy] appealed to me more.
Primarily because it was subtle, I would easily be able to hide it, and it would also always give the prime advantage over others as I would know their moves before they could even attempt them.
I could shut down a man's mind and instant incapacitate him.
And the best part would be that no one would be able to know about it!
As I had already been declared Quirkless, no one would even suspect that I was reading their mind.
The other plus side of it was that I could easily train it, with nobody knowing the better.
With that, my mind was made up.
So I brought my hand up and quickly selected [Telepathy] before some other act of God interfered.

After thinking a little, I put 5 points in Endurance (END) to increase my HP, and put the rest in Intelligence (INT) to increase my PE.
Afterwards, my Status looked something like this-

And so, everything was done.
-Just then, my stomach rumbled loudly.
'I should get something to eat.' I thought.
I was a growing boy afterall.

Here is the promised chapter folks! What did you think about it?
I know many would've long since guessed the [Class] since it was basically in the title.
And for those who is thinking that the MC would become a rapey-scumbag little shit then just THINK! He is an old man, a tired old man to whom honour is very important. It wouldn't fit in with his character as despite being a former mafia boss he still has some morals left (like not hurting women or children).
I'm not sure if I would even keep romance in this novel to be honest. And if I would, then it would probably have to be at the end. Like epilogue.
Cause as I said, he's an old man in mind. It would be very pedo if he went after girls that were a tenth of his mental age.
Anyways, I have been very gloomy this past week, I don't why. But it's becoming better after I watched some good comedy movies.
