Chapitre 2: Stalking Demoness

"Duck down, Demons are attacking!!"

Not too early, Taylor ducked down. A ball of compressed flames shattered the large window in his room before they crashed on the ground, setting everything ablaze.

Taylor had barely been able to lift his left hand to block the glass shards to fling in his face. However, now his left hand was injured with more than ten cuts on his fingers and a bunch of shards stuck in his palm.

"Holy Shit!" He cursed out stupefied and he jumped up a moment later. He began to shake and adrenaline coursed through his body. This allowed him to move and take a step closer to the destroyed window.

Searing hot flames shrouded Taylor, trying to devour him and burn him alive.

"That is definitely a unique way to end my time in the Academy…" Taylor's lips twitched as he looked outside.

It looked like the entire academy building had caught fire and he could see students and teachers running for their lives, screaming at the top of their lungs.

The screams reverberated through the entire Academy's site but Taylor's attention was somewhere else.

"You have nothing to do with that, right?" His entire being was shrouded in blazing flames, yet, Taylor acted as if he didn't notice any of that. His expression didn't change a bit as he looked at the levitating woman that had appeared out of nowhere.

She was in the middle of the room and looked at him with a complex expression that didn't distort her beauty in the slightest.

The mature woman had crystal clear, big purple eyes and long eyelashes. Her skin was fair and flawless

The long black dress she wore was revealing and figure-hugging, showing off her curves and perfect figure. She was otherworldly beautiful, which was highlighted as the blazing flames whirled around the woman's black silky hair that cascaded down her back to the waist,

Despite all this beauty, the woman he looked at was just as dangerous as she was beautiful. In fact, Taylor was pretty sure that she was even more dangerous than beautiful!

Black leather wings sprouted out of her back and one black horn protruded out from each side of her head…she was a Demon, and Taylor knew her!

"Nonono! Don't even think that I have something to do with that!!" The Demoness objected vehemently but she could see the doubt in Taylor's crimson eyes.

"Is that really something you can say with your status? How about you leave and start searching for some traitors instead of stalking a perfectly normal human?!" He asked, with a weird and unreadable smile on his face.

"Forget it, I won't leave you! I–..." The Demoness wanted to retort but she noticed that Taylor didn't even pay any attention to her anymore.

He looked down at his burning clothes and frowned as his gaze averted to the leatherbound book in his hand.

"At least, mom's book is fire-resistant, just like me…haha…" A sad expression covered Taylor's face once again as he walked through the flames that increased the temperature all over his body.

It was a cozy feeling, which he could enjoy if it would be any other day, but the pain in his left hand pulled him back to reality. Demons were currently attacking the Academy and not even the partner he had by his side whether he liked it or not knew about it.

That was definitely not good, which was why Taylor rushed outside the burning dorm room.

He ignored the pain in his left hand and rushed over the dorm's hallway into the room right next to his.

The room was empty, which was Taylor's fortune as he didn't have to explain anything.

His eyes darted through the window, which allowed him to see the first few Demons.

They didn't look like Taylor's partner at all, and the Demoness could only frown deeply.

"Lesser Demons from the group of Shedim…" The Demoness mumbled but that was something Taylor could also tell.

It was not really difficult to recognize the Lesser Demons that were flying through the air and running over the ground like ferocious beasts, creating large fireballs in their palms.

Shedim had pale, mottled, and burned flesh with long black claws adorning each hand and foot. Some of them had black, rotten wings, and all of them had scales covering the remaining part of their flesh that had yet to rot or burn.

Shedim were said to be descendants of higher-ranked serpent-like demons, and they could fire to a certain extent, enough to manifest fireballs.

"Eris, it is great that you know them, but how about you tell me more about their weakness, rather than staring at them with eyes that can kill mammoths?" Taylor asked as he threw aside his burning backpack.

The clothes inside the backpack were also burning but that was not something Taylor paid much attention to as he skimmed through the wardrobes in the room.

His left hand ached heavily because the few shards in his palm had begun to dig deeper into his flesh. It annoyed him, which was why he quickly removed them, trying to ignore the pain, before he dedicated himself to search a set of clothes.

'Nice clothes. To think that these dickheads have a sense for fashion…unexpected' He thought as he put on the new clothes he had gotten his hands on.

"Don't even think about attacking them. Just run and let the trained Knights and Sorcerers do their work! This small group of Demons is not problematic to handle for you humans" Eris, the Demoness, scolded him as she stopped in front of the doorframe to prevent Taylor from doing something stupid.

Taylor picked up his mother's book which was still shrouded in flames. It looked different from before but it was not burning to ashes. That was enough reassurance for him to hold it tightly with his injured left hand so that he would be able to use an uninjured hand if necessary.

Eris had been looking straight in Taylor's face to make him give up on trying to fight any Demons but her attention was suddenly drawn to Taylor's left hand.

"By the way, just for the tiny possibility that you didn't notice it…your book is glowing!"
