Chapitre 13: 13. A Couple's Drama

"Arsiaaa..."

Salim called out her name rhythmically. He didn't know how many times he tried to call Arsia's name and apologized. Whatever he did, Arsia never came out of her room. This made Salim worried and so guilty.

"My Lord, what are you doing?" Behram asked with his body leaning slightly toward Salim. Since he had just seen Salim keep repeating the same thing, Behram couldn't stand it anymore. That's why he dared to ask so Salim could get his sense back.

How surprised Behram was to find Salim's state when his master turned to him. Salim's face looked sad and frustrated. Throughout Behram's memory, he had never seen Salim in such a condition before.

'Why is he look so pathetic?', Behram pitied him.

Seeing Salim so, regret arose within Behram why he hadn't stopped his master from teasing Arsia. If he had prevented it, Salim wouldn't have been in this position. One of the dangerous species on earth was a woman when she was angry. But his master Salim teased Arsia like a child lost in the savannah who met a sleeping lioness and bother it with a twig.

Behram had seen the same scene from movies and soap operas that he watched. Even so far Behram favored mafia movies more at least he had some experience as a man who ever had a wife. Meanwhile Salim, no matter how smart that young man was or how many romantic movies he had watched, he had no experience in the relationship between man and woman.

'What is the term for the inexperienced one in modern times? Ah yes, fresh graduate!', Behram recalled what Yıldıray ever told him.

It was true that Salim was never in a relationship with any woman. It wasn't because matchmaking was so common in their era but because Salim didn't have a chance.

Being born as a noble did give Salim privileges as well as disaster. Although he was not the first line to the throne, he was still under the shadow of death. Several times Salim almost died after being targeted by those who considered Salim an opponent -- a threat -- to their political movements. Although fratricides were abolished during the reign of Sultan Ahmet I and replaced by the cage system, Salim was still under the threat. It seems that something couldn't be changed immediately, even with the law.

The cage system itself, which placed the Princes under close surveillance of the palace, eventually killed them psychologically. In the end, whether fratricide or the cage system, both of them still forced Salim to survive. So let alone arranging a marriage, to thought about his own safety was enough to drain Salim.

So it was so normal for Salim, who has never had contact with any woman, didn't know how to deal with cranky Arsia.

"What I'm doing? What do you think I'm doing, Behram?" Salim asked with a tired tone. Then he sighed. "How to get her out of there?" he asked, pointing at the tightly closed door of Arsia's room.

"Arsia is angry, My Lord," Behram tried to describe the situation.

"I'm not blind, Behram," Salim responded resentfully.

'My Lord didn't get it', Behram said inwardly.

With his lowest voice, Behram made it clear, "Arsia is a woman, My Lord. And she is angry."

"Behram, if she were a man she wouldn't do this kind of thing," Salim replied. His words slid quickly from his mouth. Salim was silent then. Realizing something, he looked meaningfully at Behram.

'Finally, My Lord got it', Behram sighed in relief.

Behram returned Salim's gaze with the same glare. "You're not supposed to stick around here, My Lord," he informed respectfully.

"Then what should I do, Behram? I have to get her out of there before she--" Salim looked at the door. Then whispered, "--run away."

"I got you, My Lord," Behram accepted his assignment.

Fast, Behram took his phone and started searching on the internet. His fingers slowly and carefully typed 'how to deal with a cranky woman' as his keyword. The results appeared in a row right away.

Behram smiled faintly. He was satisfied to see it. After all of his bloody efforts to learn how to operate a smartphone, he did it.

He handed the phone to Salim, "Please, My Lord."

"You've made some progress, Behram," Salim marked as he received Behram's phone.

Behram nodded his head. Indeed, he felt proud of himself after Salim's appreciation. "The internet is faster too, My Lord," he said without hiding his joy.

Salim read all the articles that might offer solutions for him. Then he chose the one that seemed promising. While doing so he validated Behram's information just now, "You're right, Behram. The internet is faster now. Is it unlimited too?"

"Unfortunately it is not, My Lord. Unlimited one is more expensive. Since we don't live here I think that this package is more suitable for us. And more economical," Behram reported.

"Good, good... If only this internet signal could reach the palace," Salim responded.

Without the two realizing it, behind the door Arsia overheard their conversation. That girl was sneaking up on the door when she heard Salim stop knocking. Arsia wanted to know what was going on. Precisely, what those two weirdos were doing at the moment.

"No doubt, they come from a far away generation," Arsia mumbled as she overheard Salim and Behram.

Bored, Arsia was back up on the bed. She covered herself again with the blanket while playing with her phone. She was no longer crying. But her anger toward Salim still lingered in her heart.

Back outside the door, Salim read the article written on the page he chose carefully.

"Let her release her anger, apologize at the right time, take her to a good place..." Salim spelled out the contents. Then he lifted his face from the screen and looked at Behram impatiently. "Is there nothing else? It will take a lot of time!"

"Perhaps you can wait for tomorrow to talk with Arsia, My Lord?" Behram offered a solution.

"No, Behram. Find out a way to make her out of her room right now," Salim refused.

Behram was silent for a moment. He was confused by the rush shown by his master. "Let's break down the door, My Lord."

"Don't you have another way, Behram?! If we break the door, she'll be scared. I don't want her to try to escape again," Salim said.

Bowing himself, Behram nodded. Salim might not realize the strangeness of his attitude but Behram sensed that something was happening to his master right now.

'Could it be...', Behram guessed.
