Chapitre 24: What Did You Say?

"Leon." She said his name in what came out as a whisper, and Leon half smiled at her.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted to see if everything is all right with you."

He chuckled awkwardly, and Diana smiled with a bit of a guilty expression on her face.

"I am sorry." She abruptly blurted out, and a look of surprise emerged on Leon's face.

"Sorry, for what?" He asked, and a long, deep breath exited Diana's nose.

She grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into the room, then shut the door behind them.

"You're disappointed in me, aren't you?"

She asked, and quite surprised, Leon arched his brow in a bit of confusion.

"Disappointed in you for what?" He inquired, and she pinched between her brows with a stressed expression on her face.

"Well, concerning earlier, aren't you disappointed in me? I know you never expected to make a friend today and then see him or her-"

"Hey, That's not it at all. I am not disappointed at all. I mean, we just met, and it's also your choice. You can say I was just... surprised."

A sweet smile ensued on his face, and Diana's lips curled up into a half smile.

"I see. Well, that's a relief. I mean, we have been glancing awkwardly at each other, so I thought you were kind of I don't know, feeling weird or anything like that."

She clarified, and Leon cackled softly. "No, it's not it at all. It's all just a misunderstanding." He said, and Diana nodded in agreement.

"Well, since it seems like you will be alright, I will take my leave now. If ever in the future you need anything, you can always reach out to me, alright."

He beamed at her and pulled the door open.

He stepped out but unexpectedly bumped into Loki, who seemed to be passing by.

"Leon-" A bit surprised, Loki's brows puckered in a questioning manner, "-What are you doing here?"

He asked, but instead of answering him, Leon changed his expression to a serious one and walked past him.

It was as though he was angry….

Loki gazed at his disappearing back, and his eyes narrowed into a thin line as he turned to look at the door of Diana's room.

"Hm..."

Finally having settled in, Diana lay peacefully on the bed, but her face rumpled in the next moment when a knock came at her door.

"Who is it?" She asked, and the person who was at the door spoke.

"Ma'am, You are needed downstairs." The gentle female voice said, and Diana, who was quite tired, walked to the door and pulled it open.

Her eyes fell on a young, blonde-haired girl who looked the age of nineteen. Well... she looked nineteen in the eyes of a human, but in actuality she was a young demon of at least two hundred years old.

"I see. I will be down in a minute." She replied, and the young girl nodded before walking away.

A low breath fled Diana's nose, and she slipped her feet into her slippers.

She walked out of the room and shut the door behind her.

She made her way downstairs, but the instant she arrived at the luxurious living room, her gaze was met with none other than Flora, who sat in front of the other four play partners with a haughty look on her face.

"Oh.... the lazy ass finally arrived." This was the first sentence that escaped Flora's mouth.

Diana raised her brow at her and, without bothering to say a word to her, she walked towards the sofa and took her seat beside the four ladies.

"Who said you guys could sit down?" As though surprised, Flora's eye fluttered rapidly, causing the four ladies, except Diana, to quickly stand up.

"We are sorry. We are really sorry." They apologized in unison, and what seemed like disbelief flashed in Diana's eyes.

"You have got to be kidding me..." She said in a very low voice, which ended up drawing Flora's attention to her.

"What did you say? And why are you sitting down?" She questioned, and Diana pinched between her brows.

"Do you expect me to stand up like some students in your class? Or are we perhaps in a class where you are the teacher?"

She inquired with her brows arched in confusion, and Flora's eyes broadened in utter shock.

She did not just get spoken to like that....

"You!! Who do you think you are? Who gave you the right to speak to me like that?"

She questioned, and Diana shrugged with an innocent smile on her face.

"Huh? What do you mean? What rights are you talking about? I thought we were all play partners here, so... what right are you talking about? Or are you, maybe, different from us? I am confused."

She asked with that innocent look still visible on her face and now angered to the core, Flora stood up from her seat and stormed towards her.

Her chest rose and fell in rage, and in the next moment, she raised her hand and slapped Diana hard across the face.

Everyone within the room, including the maids, gasped, and Diana, whose face was now facing the other side, licked her lips.

She touched her lips and raised her head to look at Flora.

A deadly slow smile spread across her face and she stood up from the sofa.

She gazed intently at Flora, and a mocking laughter escaped her throat.

Honestly, the amount of rage that was bubbling up inside of her at that moment was enough to steam up a cold shower, but she's however, controlling it so as to not blow her chance of successfully completing this mission.

She obviously wouldn't have been able to finally meet Lorenzo, her enemy, if not for this job, so you can say... This task was a blessing in disguise, because now she has a better chance at getting her revenge as well as earning a huge sum of money.

She let out a deep breath behind a low chuckle and dangerously narrowed her eyes at Flora.

"I will let this slide for today."

She said and turned around to leave, but Flora, who wasn't going to let it slide just like that, grabbed her harshly by the arm and turned her around to slap her yet again, however not going to permit such, Diana seized her wrist before it could touch her face and mercilessly slapped her with the back of her hand.
