Chapter 47: Transmigration Is Not Healthy With Perverted Swords Around

"Now that we are all assembled, I can tell you the objective of our next mission," Cesimir spoke in his calm voice. "There have been numerous reports of disappearances on the outskirts of White Cliff town. The Church first handed it over to the local Nighthawks, but we haven't heard from them for a couple of days, so it's been passed on to us."

Alfred clicked his tongue with a scowl on his face. "It's always in these isolated places where the worst things happen. We keep losing agents."

Edward, the guy who looked like an aristocrat, took off his glasses to clean them. "It's precisely because they're isolated that they happen. The unofficial Beyonders act as they want when they see that we can't keep an eye on them as much as in big cities."

William nodded. It made sense.

He also noticed Edward's displeasure when he heard that they had lost track of the group of Nighthawks.

"He seems like he actually cares about the members of the Church behind that grumpy facade. No wonder, he is a Red Glove after all," he thought to himself as he reached into his pocket and felt his new weapon.

That morning, he had been given the Sealed Artifact that Cesimir had mentioned the day before. It was a grade 2 artifact called the Great Man's Sword. It was a sword with the ability to shrink to the size of a knife or grow to the size of a broadsword. The growth in size of the sword also entailed an increase in weight and vice versa. It apparently had some connection to the Warrior pathway, though it was unclear what actual level the Beyonder that spawned it was at. The only downside was that the weight it gained as it grew was a lot and exponential, which prevented most people from being able to lift it. Luckily, William didn't have any problems in the physical strength department. It was a vast improvement over his old sword, not only because more weight meant harder hitting, but also because he no longer had to carry a guitar case with him to hide it.

"Alright, we'll take the next train to White Cliff. Meet me at the station in two hours," the deacon said, focusing on William. "Take some money in case we need to stay a few days there, but I recommend you not bring anything else."

"Yes, sir," they all exclaimed and went their respective ways.

William grabbed five pounds, which should be enough even if they had to stay away for two months.

"Strangely, I don't feel nervous," William thought to himself. He had expected to feel something before his first mission, just like when he joined the Blackthorn Security Company, but he hadn't. "Maybe I've gotten used to this kind of life."

"Don't worry, Darling, you'll be fine," Debris spoke in her shrill, animated voice in his head, almost scaring him to death.

William laughed. "Shit, you scared me, Debris. It's been a long time since you spoke. What happened?"

"You've been busy, so I decided not to bother you," the sword answered. "But don't worry about that now, take a bath and remember that you have to be at the station in an hour and a half. I have a bad feeling about this mission. I think it won't be easy."

William agreed. "I feel it too. I won't let my guard down."

Debris chuckled. "Good. Remember that if something goes wrong, you can always use me however you want, Darling." She finished with another chuckle that somehow just sent a shiver of horror down William's spine.

"Stop your nonsense, you perverted sword, although I will if we are in mortal danger," William said, exasperated.

"Hehe, so this is what you humans call tsundere, huh?" Debris sneered at him. William imagined her covering her mouth to hide her laughter, which made him wonder whether to laugh or cry. He heaved an indignant sigh.

"I feel like it's easier to deal with Theosophy Order assassins than you. You're going to drive me crazy," he muttered out loud, realizing he might appear crazy to anyone around him.

"Come on, of course I drive you crazy. My charm is irresistible after all," Debris continued to taunt him, and a vein stood out on William's forehead.

He debated whether or not to hit Debris, but decided he just needed a good bath to rest up. Transmigrating with a sword that looked more like a perverted teenager than the incredibly powerful and probably wise artifact that it was, was exhausting. Yet, he felt some kind of burden lifted from his shoulders.

Yes, he definitely needed a good bath.
