<I can't believe we haven't seen a single red dragon yet.> Nate said as Bo, Nate, and I slinked through yet another ally as we made our way to Skalliq Park. Nate and Bo were right behind me as I lead the way to the park. Mostly because I could see what was ahead of us thanks to Bone-lasher's electromagnetic vision.
Originally, I was worried that Nate and Bo wouldn't use the telepathic link when I cast it at the shop before we left, but they got used to it pretty quickly.
<Yeah and that worries me. We're deep in red dragon territory in the silver city, and we haven't seen a single one since we left the shop.> I replied.
<They're probably all at that warehouse since you kinda destroyed the place…> Bo piped up.
<Oh yeah…> I sighed as we raced across the street and into another alley. The park was now well within Bone-lasher's vision, and I was wondering what they were calling it a park anymore. Like Nate had said it was nothing more than a giant crater in the ground. Anything that originally identified it as a park had long since been blown away, except oddly the entrance to the park.
<We're almost there!> Nate said. As we made our way through the last alley we found ourselves at the entrance to the park which probably at one time been a nice looking wrought iron fence was now a twisted monstrosity that had been warped by extreme heat.
<Are they close by?> Nate asked.
<They're at the bottom of the crater.> I replied. I could see six red dragons in total, Audin, the behemoth, and four other random. Their suits told me they were all splicers.
<Jade's not with them…>
<Where is she?!> Nate demanded and tried to rush ahead. I grabbed him by his collar and pulled him back behind me.
<She's not here, I can't see her anywhere near here either…in fact I can't see anyone else around here for two mile.> I replied.
<That makes sense, the neighborhood basically died the night of the fight…> Bo said.
<But where could mom be?>
<They must be holding her in another area to make sure we can't snatch her before we meet up…I'll have Bone-lasher and Grimm-Guard search more of the area.> I said then switched my connection to my evos. [
[Grimm, can you tunnel out a bit further so Bone-lasher can scan more of the surrounding area. I'm hoping they're keeping Jade close by.]
[Of course, Star Boss!] Grimm-Guard replied happily. I tuned out of Bone-lasher's and mine shared senses as in a few moments they are going to be useless.
Bone-lasher and Grimm-Guard were burrowing underground. About a half mile beneath the city streets. Grimm-Guard was doing all the burrowing actually, his bullet ant DNA was coming in handy there. Bone-lasher just rode on Grimm-Guard's back while he tunneled, acting as a sensor array for me as they moved through the area.
<I'm having the evos check out a little further to see if they can see her. In the meantime, let's not keep those damn geckos waiting.> I said to Bo and Nate.
<We're coming Honey…> Nate said.
The guys and I walked out of the alley and to the edge of Skalliq Park through the twisted metal gates and looked down the crater. Bone-lasher's electromagnetic vision didn't really do justice to the crater, while his vision could show me the outline of something it couldn't show colors or textures that well. While I'd seen that the crater had many jagged and swirls in the pattern where the rock and soil had cooled I didn't realized that the heat had been so entrance that it had crystallized a lot of the rock and sand. All of the jagged peaks and odd swirling structures I had seen were actually crystals.
The afternoon light shined and reflected off those crystals with a rainbow glow, giving the park an odd beauty. A haunting beauty despite the destruction that had taken place there at one time.
Down in the center of the crater stood Audin behind his troop of goons. The massive behemoth that had intimidated Bo and I at the diner stood front and center.
<Stay behind me, you two and Nate stay behind Bo.> I told them as I started down the slope towards the center of the crater.
<Like hell I'm going to stay behind my son! It's my job to protect him!> Nate shouted through the telepathic link.
<Nate now is not the time to be arguing with me about this. Bo is a splicer who has three enchanted items designed for defense, escaping and hiding! You don't even have a gun!> I snapped.
<Guns are illegal in Egypt! We're not even supposed to have knives or swords!> Nate snapped back.
<What's the point of that freaking law since people can shoot fireballs strong enough to level a park!>
<DAD! CHASE! CAN WE FOCUS ON THE GANGSTERS THAT KIDNAPPED MOM PLEASE!> Bo Bellowed.
<Yes! You're right! Sorry!> I apologized. Nate said nothing but did move behind his son. While we had been arguing I kept my eyre pointed towards Audin as we approached but didn't really pay attention to what he was doing. Now that it was over I saw that we were much closer than I originally thought.
I could now make out Audin's annoyingly smug face and that weird mask of smugness he had. However something felt off, he didn't come off as sophisticated as he had at the diner. I came to a stop about ten feet away from Audin, out of the range of his blood axe but still in range of one of my lightning bolts.
"Ah! Kingston, how nice of you accept my invitation." Audin spoke up.
"Invitation my ass! Where is Jade!" I snapped.
"Somewhere safe. I couldn't have you try rescuing her before we had a chance to chat." Audin smiled until Nate stepped in front of me and spoke up.
"Look if you have business with him leave me and my family out of it! We have nothing to do with him!" Nate exclaimed. Audin chuckled and shook his head.
"Nothing do with him you say?" Audin leveled Nate with a glare as he dropped that pompous air that he was trying to keep up and let the predatory side of him out. "That's not how it looked when you assaulted the red dragon's warehouse here in the silver city to get your son with him earlier."
Nate, Bo and I all tensed. I narrowed my eyes at him. Bone-lasher, Alpa'nagia, and Grimm-Guard all made sure to leave no survivors. I could believe a few guys getting away from Grimm-Guard since his senses were at powerful as the other two but Bone-lasher was a living radar spelling they were with in two miles he saw them.
"That only happened a few hours ago and u was sure that no one survived. How did you figure out it was us?" I asked. Audin chuckled putting back on that mask.
"Not even going to try and deny it! Well, well Kingston you really are as outrageous as they say"
"You're laughing at the fact he just admitted to killing our underlings and destroying our warehouse?" The behemoth spoke up for the first time, hos tone reminiscent of an elder chastising their lesser. Audin even flinched just barely though, then glared at the behemoth.
"Quiet Sin! Why would the lives of some talentless splicers and weak normies matter when there are bigger prizes to be had." Audin said motioning to me.
"Some would say honor or at least respect. Why would anyone join our gang kf they feel like they are disposable." Sin said. The look Audin gave him said that he was not happy to hear the behemoth talk back.
"Quiet Sin!" One of the goons spoke up and slapped him on the back. Sin looked over hos shoulder at the goon and curled his upper lip at the smaller man.
<Something doesn't feel right here…> Bo said through the link.
<You noticed it too.> I said glancing over my shoulder at Bo.
<That big guy seemed more obedient at the diner…did something happen?> Bo asked.
[BOSS! Haven't found woman but big guy feels off! He looks shimmery!] Bone-lasher asked. I frowned and eyed Sin. He didn't look shimmery to me and I didn't understand what the hell Bone-lasher was talking about.
"Well someone's obviously been keeping track of us…I would be flattered if you red geckos weren't a bunch of garbage human beings." I said.
Sin narrowed his eyes at me and started casting an axiom spell sigil. A deep gash opened on his palm and blood collected in a bubble then formed into the shape of a large two handed axe. He pointed the axe at me and curled his upper lip.
"It's red dragons boy!" Sin snarled viciously. I stared at Sin's axe, the spell he'd cast had been a variation of the one that Audin cast at the diner.
"It's stupid regardless." I said dismissively. Sin narrowed his eyes and took a step towards me.
"SIN THAT'S ENOUGH!" Audin exclaimed. Sin froze in place and looked over his shoulder at Audin for a few tense seconds then lowered his axe and scowled.
"He's not the real Audin Akkesin…" Sin muttered softly in English. I did my best to not react to him suddenly switching languages or let it slip that I understood him. Instead I pretended that I didn't hear him. Sin took a step back to his original position but didn't dispel his blood axe.
"Whatever! What's it going to take to get Jade back?" I asked. Faux Audin smiled creepily then crossed his arms.
"Join the red dragons and…"
"Pass!" I said immediately cutting him off. Audin froze, staring at me with a look of disbelief. His eye twitched almost comically.
<CHASE! WHAT THE FUCK!> Nate yelled. I glanced over my shoulder at him and flashed him a look that told him to be quiet.
<For once in you life shut up and listen to me!> I groaned.
"What do you mean pass! I have that woman locked up and will kill her if you don't do as I say!" Faux Audin snarled. He took a few steps towards me passing two of his guards. I nearly rolled my eyes at the aggressive display and instead looked up at the sky.
"If he's a fake and to assume that you're the real one!" I yelled in English. To Faux Audin, the other goons as well as Nate and Bo it looked like I was cursing my situation. When I looked back down at Faux Audin and his group, Sin locked eyes with me and slightly nodded his head letting me know he understood me.
<What's going on?> Nate asked.
<Chase is striking a deal dad!> Bo jumped in.
"Okay fine! Whatever you need my help for that you'd kidnap a innocent woman to get I'll help you!" I exclaimed looking directly at Sin.
Sin smiled and grabbed his axe tightly. He suddenly spun on his heel and swung the axe, the muscles in his arms bulging as he decapitated the heads of Faux Audin and his four guards all at once in one swift strike. Their corpses fell to the ground with a wet slop.
The moment I saw Sin rear back and swing his axe, I reached back and grabbed Bo's face and covered his eyes. Nate's hands covered my while he screamed.
"OH MY GODS! OH MY GODS! HE CUT OF THEIR HEADS!"
"What was the point of covering his eyes if you're going to telegraph everything that happened!" I snapped. Sin glared at Nate as he dispelled his blood axe spell.
"Quiet down! You want to be next!" He hissed. Hearing this, Bo activated his tricky movement enchanted ring. Lightning wrapped around his body as Bo turned out of his father's and mines grip and grabbed his dad and jumped away high into the air.
"Oh for fucks sake…" I groaned as I looked up at Bo and Nate soaring high over the top of the crater heading towards a abandoned building.
[Grimm-Guard make sure they don't go splat on a building.] I told him telepathically.
[Yes Boss!] Grimm-Guard exclaimed happily. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Grimm-Guard's body shoot up from the ground outside the crater and position himself to act as a slide. I watched them slide down Grimm-Guard's back to the sidewalk.
<You guys stay up there for right now. I'll figure this stuff out.>
<You didn't even ask if we're okay.> Nate exclaimed.
<The people I'm with usually don't die from fall damage.> I replied.
<Wait what do they usually die from!> Nate exclaimed. I chose to ignore him and focus my attention on the one man that knew where Jade was. I looked back and sin and folded my arms.
"Audin Akkesin, let's talk…"
Evo Fact: While evos usually take attributes and the physical characteristics of animals used as bases. There are no guarantee that they'll be able use all their abilities it's the reason why splicers carefully chose what animals were used in their evos.
[HUTEXA_THE_DJINN HERE! Sorry there will only be two chapters released this week but overtime is kicking my ass at work.]
