Chapitre 17: A Great Loss

It was the day of Saturday 8th August. Elsa was cooking yummy chicken cutlets for Ryan and oatmeal for baba. Baba used to remain sick. He couldn't digest anything except oat meals.

He used to tell Elsa: I won't survive more."

"Baba please, don't say that, you must have your will power." Elsa exclaimed with grief.

"Will power is ended my fairy."

"Now do one thing, raise your hands and pray to God and so do I. As I get down my hands so you must do the same." said baba.

They both raised hands to make supplication, Elsa asked God to bless baba a healthy life, but she couldn't know what baba asked from God. It was the time when baba asked Elsa to repeat after him and he made her to pray at the same time, certainly baba was praying for Elsa and Ryan to live a happy life even after him. God knows but Elsa just assumed.

Elsa was upset seeing baba seriously ill. He couldn't walk, he was unable to sit.

His immunity was weak. He had deep bruises due to bedsores.

He used to tell Elsa to take care of Ryan as much as possible. Elsa assured baba, she would do as he said. Baba could only survive for 3.5 months after Ryan and Elsa's marriage. As if he waited for this day that he won't bid a farewell forever until he gets his son married with Elsa. He used to request Elsa's baba to give them Elsa as she belonged to Chaucer's family only and he used to repeat his words like he had a very few days to survive.

Elsa came to know that good souls even are blessed with this ability to know about their departure from this world because there is a life after death to meet God and it is indeed a permanent life where there is no death afterwards and there is no separation of your beloveds.

Baba in his last days turned out to be a baby, his actions were all like a new born baby. He needed care of his mother and father, so Ryan became his mother and his father. He played his role with sincerity.

He used to take baba in his hands and took him to washroom, he used to give bath to baba, he cleaned him, he changed his clothes, he removed his bandages, he cured him, Elsa remembered Ryan even washing his baba's clothes due to his baba's weak immunity his clothes remained wet, Ryan never felt bad washing and cleaning baba. In fact he used to cry for baba to see his condition. He told Elsa that this is how parents take care of their children and now it's his turn to serve him the same.

Elsa remembered how cool her father in law was, when it was the first feast offered by Ryan's elder sister, so Elsa requested baba to sit on front seat with Ryan because they were only three to go in a car. Elsa didn't want to make baba feel separate, so she asked him to sit with Ryan. Baba laughed and relaxed Elsa that she shouldn't think like that, baba strictly told her to always sit with her husband on a front seat of car. He taught her to be very vigilant and told her no matter what, she is not at all allowed to make that seat reserved by anyone else.

According to him a wife always should sit with her husband if it comes on traveling or going anywhere. Baba told her that he used to make his wife always sit with him on a front seat of his car. He was fond of driving cars. He sat behind and kept on sharing his stories about his wife to Elsa. Elsa always enjoyed listening him. She was sitting with Ryan on front seat but she looked back to talk baba and listened his stories. Baba was so interesting man ever Elsa could see in her life.

Whenever Elsa cooked any food, Baba used to admire her a lot, but soon it was the day when baba was about to say goodbye forever.

That night he talked on a call with all dead people whom he was going to meet soon. Elsa Ryan woke up whole night and listened baba, he had no phone in his hand, but he put his hand on his ear and he talked as if he was talking on a call, he greeted everyone who were not in this world, Ryan could understand whom baba was talking, Ryan told baba is picking names of all those beloveds who were not more in the world. Elsa was terrified hearing this.

They both understood something was wrong. Baba kept on talking, kept on greeting, kept on telling them that he was soon going to meet them. It was 8th of August, Saturday at 11.45 am. Baba left this world in Ryan's arms. Ryan sobbed and mourned. Elsa was with Ryan to console him, baba was no more in the world. His soul departed so peacefully. As if his soul yearned to meet its God and left his body with tranquility like a drop of water pouring out. A light like the sun's ray and a sweet fragrance come out to the soul. As if angles were gathered to take his soul and were waiting in a queue. Baba was gone forever, but he lived with Ryan and Elsa like a fragrance of red roses. Ryan Elsa used to smell that rosy fragrance most often. They felt baba within their home almost most of the time rather happy or hard. Elsa always loved red color, so she loved red roses too, and baba became a fragrance of a red rose which Elsa used to feel whenever she was alone at home or with Ryan, It always felt and vanished soon.

Elsa saw a dream at night when baba was buried. She saw baba in a white dress with a red cap, Elsa understood baba wore a red cap just to signal Elsa that he kept Elsa's favorite color with him in the next world too but he instructed Elsa as well, he told her to keep her patience as something wrong would happen soon. He told to be patient just. He smiled and left away. The first night, Elsa saw him in a dream and the second night Ryan saw him in a dream, he came to console his son and asked him to be strong. Ryan used to cry a lot and miss baba.

Elsa found everyone at her and Ryan's home so eager to take things left by baba as if they waited for this day. Elsa was sad to see the reaction of people towards her, and she thought why people are so interested more in materials than in people. Elsa was already an injured soul due to her relatives but she found some of Ryan's relatives too very close relatives who rushed to take things, furniture, clothes, shoes, files and so many things of baba. Elsa remembered baba used to guide her to be vigilant. When she questioned them: "Why are you people taking things from my home? The answer she got: "Everything doesn't belong to Ryan." Elsa was surprised to see such retaliating reactions of people who were very close to Ryan. She was alone, she couldn't answer more, she remained patient.

According to an official will of baba, that house where Elsa and Ryan lived was named to them, it was Ryan's house. Baba gave homes and shares to everyone already. Baba even assured Elsa's parents that no one would argue with them even after his death.

Probably baba knew what would happen so he instructed Elsa in a dream to be patient. Elsa let them do what they did. She could identify everyone's character. She remained patient. Elsa and Ryan were left alone at their home, Elsa promised herself that she would fill those empty cupboards again with God's blessings for Ryan. Ryan was the youngest sibling of all, so he couldn't utter a word. Elsa supported her husband, and they both kept their trust on God. After all it was nothing what Elsa had suffered before.

"Everything which happens in our life has a reason behind it and only God knows this what's the special fruit is to be bestowed if we keep patience." Elsa said trusting God.
