As the sun began its descent, casting a warm golden hue over the village of Konoha, a sense of relief washed over Naruto.

His month-long mission to the Land of Water had finally come to an end, and he was eager to return home. With a sigh of contentment, the blond-haired boy gazed upon the towering gates of his beloved village.

During his time in the Land of Water, Naruto had worked diligently to strengthen the newfound alliance between the Hidden Mist and the Hidden Leaf. With the successful coup that had ousted the puppet Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi, the newly appointed Mizukage, Mei Terumi, had embarked on an arduous task of rebuilding the village and repairing its fractured relationships with the outside world.

Though the ex-rebels and Konoha shinobi had been unable to break the genjutsu that had ensnared the Fourth Mizukage, forcing them to resort to fatal measures, the alliance had flourished.

Yet, even with the coup's success, the Hidden Mist remained vulnerable. The Three Tails lay dormant, leaving the village weakened after losing countless skilled shinobi and witnessing the demise of clans renowned for their powerful kekkei genkai.

To solidify the newly formed alliance, Zabuza had served as a mediator between the ex-rebel groups and Konoha, paving the way for future cooperation.

"At least nothing unexpected happened. Furthermore, that Daimyo was kind of a pussy. A little threatening from Mei and he willingly implemented the policies she proposed. Just that single light intimidation helped the Land of Water and the Hidden Mist progress two to three years." Hiroki commented inside Naruto's mind, his thoughts recalling the alluring figure of Mei.

As Naruto approached the gates of Konoha, his sharp eyes caught sight of two individuals strolling along the outskirts of the village.

There was something peculiar about their demeanour, a calculated effort to blend seamlessly with the local inhabitants.

The older man, donning an eyepatch and midnight black hair, concealed his distinct features beneath a wide-brimmed hat and a protective coat, shielding himself from prying eyes. Walking beside him was a younger lad, his vibrant blue eyes and blond locks a stark contrast against the backdrop of the village.

Their demeanour was intentionally subdued, their movements calculated to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. They walked with a casual air, as if they were ordinary travellers passing through, their true purpose hidden beneath a veil of secrecy.

Conversations in hushed tones were exchanged sparingly, their words chosen with caution to avoid arousing suspicion.

Unbeknownst to them, Naruto's perceptive gaze detected a unique energy emanating from the two individuals.

"It seems two rats entered the village after hearing about the previous attack," Naruto muttered to himself, his ninja instincts tingling. Continuing on his way to the Hokage tower, Naruto discreetly opened his pants pockets, releasing drops of chakra-infused ink that seeped into the ground, silently informing the T&I department of the intruders' presence.

A while later, the two men's gazes followed the Jinchuriki, both having complex emotions swimming behind their eyes.

.

"Hokage Sama. I have finished the mission. Here are the details that Mizukage Sama asked me to pass on. From what I have witnessed, it seems the talks went well, and she wishes we continue the good relationship we have between the two villages.

If the next few meetings go well, and the internal situation stabilises, she is happy to start collaborating on the ninja exchange to develop diplomacy and relations." Naruto succinctly reported as Tsunade listened amid the rustling of papers caused by the three shadow clones working in the background.

"Excellent work Naruto. You have done well for your first solo mission to another country. You can have a week off before your missions start back up again. Enjoy." Tsunade smiled as she signed the mission report, and placed the completed document to the side, ready to be handed to the accounting department to transfer the rewards to Naruto later.

"Thank you, Hokage sama. There is one other thing I would like to report." Naruto, instead of leaving, stayed, and continued.

"What is it?" Tsunade asked.

"There were two suspicious individuals roaming around town when I was coming to report. I have passed on the information to the T&I department discreetly.

However, I feel like they might be a bigger annoyance than the ordinary spy from another village.

They have a familiar aura, one that I haven't felt on any other than Jiraiya at his peak, or even Orochimaru. But they also have a familiar vibe that I can't place. My instincts say they might be trouble if they have come with bad intentions." Naruto explained with a conflicted expression, still trying to place where he felt a similar vibe from.

"Did you check they out with your technique?" Engrossed in Naruto's report, Tsunade's face grew serious as she weighed the implications of his words.

"The feeling came only after I looked them over with my Kagura Mind's Eye. But I wasn't able to feel any hostility from them. Atleast, none that was directed towards the villagers or civilians." Naruto explained.

"I'll have someone look into it. For now, take your break. You deserve it." Tsunade dismissed the boy, before calling for an Anbu.

"What's the response from the T&I division? Have they looked into it?"

"The barrier around the village did not recognise their entry. That highly suggests they are either already keyed into the village's chakra recognition database, or they are children of Konoha shinobi." The Anbu replied succinctly.

"Any hostile movements so far? What does the sensor division have on them?" Tsunade asked, her eyebrows creasing together.

"The sensor division has not gotten a match yet. They are working on it as we speak." The anbu continued.

"Good. Keep them under observation. Don't engage under any circumstances until they have been properly identified. Have some from the Hyuga clan monitor them from afar. If Naruto believes they might pose a threat, then its best to keep our distances. However, don't alarm the two.

Also, call Inoichi and have him lead the team on observing the two."

As Tsunade turned her attention to the vast expanse of Konoha visible through her office window, a sense of foreboding washed over her.

The calm before the storm had arrived, and she could feel the tension in the air, aware that something significant was about to unfold in her beloved village.
