Chapitre 23: A silent man
Something colossal was staring at a black space. At least Mars felt like there was something staring down at him, but he just saw nothing. Nothing had changed the moment he had looked around and even after the roar. No movement or ripples in space, no energy fluctuations and also no sound.
But right now he felt as if he stood in the eye of a storm. It was just way too silent as if this was a tester waiting for a response. Mars held his breath, anxious that any sound would alert that thing that was searching him.
Slowly Mars felt drops of sweat drip down his body and drenching his clothes. A chill crawled down his spine and just when he thought it was over, did a big blue eye appear before him staring straight into his soul. 'FOUND YOU AGAIN.'
An enormous obsidian skull showed itself, big enough to swallow Mars whole and with a body fitting the great head size. The beast seemed to be of a related species from Levi, but it looked more like a dragon than a bug, especially the skull and proportions.
It began to circle around Mars's space, using its ginormous fins to swim in this place while staring down at him. It was of the same length as a Void Leviathan, but seemed to be more of a water wyvern. Suddenly it flapped its front flippers, creating a strong current that just disintegrated the Camouflage Mars had set up, exposing him to this unfriendly environment that is the Void, and breaking the unchanging colour by being the only bright thing thanks to the golden portal.
'THERE YOU ARE. I THOUGHT YOU WOULD HIDE FOREVER.' Mars couldn't help but imagine seeing a horrifying grin on the monsters face.
He knew that this beast was way beyond anything he could handle. If he ran, it would probably invade his own Void Within, so that was out of option. Fighting would probably mean his death, even if he used his free Stat points, it wouldn't matter. Talking? That would be the only possible solution, since everything else would end in a disaster.
'What are you?' 'OH, ARE YOU A NEWBORN? YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM? THAT EXPLAINS YOUR DUMB WAY TO MASK YOUR ENTRANCE. BUT THAT ALSO MEANS... WELL, I AM IN A RATHER GOOD MOOD, SO LET US TALK A BIT, BEFORE I DEVOUR YOU.' Every word the monster spoke, shocked Mars deep into his bones, making his entire body scream to run away or just cower in fear. Mars knew that if he heard another word from this thing, that his natural instincts would overwhelm him and let him run right through the portal or even till the end of the world. There was only way to stop it... Using his free Stat Points and putting them in Resilience to cope with this unreal situation! 'Sorry my precious stats...'
As Mars said those words his Resilence stat rose by 5, after still having this anxious feeling it rose by another 10 and then lastly by 7. After that did the sensation finally start normalizing, clearing his bursting head and letting him gather his thoughts again. Finally Mars emerged from the prior miserable stage by taking a decisive stand, assembling his armor and holding his head up, staring almost challenging at the intruder. "What do you want?"
'OH! YOU HAVE GOT SOME SPIRIT. TO BE COMPLETELY UNAFFECTED BY MY MIND DISRUPTION OR RATHER TO SHAKE IT OFF SO FAST... THAT WAS UNEXPECTED, BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE OUR POSITIONS. I WILL STILL EAT YOU.' 'But why? To grow stronger? You seem like one of the strongest beings there is. I wasn't able to perceive you at all, just after you showed yourself. And than I got overwhelmed by your presence alone! Who would be stronger than that?' 'FLATTERING IS USELESS TO ME. YOU MIGHT NOT BE STRONG, BUT YOU STILL HAVE AUTHORITY IN THE GREATER VOID. ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU ARE FUSED, SO I DON'T SEE A POINT IN TALKING MORE.'
Mars's sweet-talk seemingly misfired and made the situation only worse. 'Wait! What do you mean with fused?' 'DON'T YOU SEE THE GLOW OF YOUR PORTAL? THAT COLOUR IS DEFINITELY THE ONE OF SOMEONE WHO HAS FUSED WITH HIS MIRRORED ONE. YOU CAN'T HIDE IT!' The beast opened its entire maw and was ready to dig into his next meal... but then it stopped?
'THI-THIS ARMOR! WHO ARE YOU? WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!' Panic was the only clear thing that was understandable from the monsters hectic thoughts. Just before he tried to eat Mars, did his armor fully frame itself onto Mars's body, changing his entire view and aura. The feeling he gave off now, was that of an old experienced war veteran - calm, even before an unbeatable enemy.
His silhouette slowly began to change trying to match this undescribable charisma.
The face that formed would have been very familiar to Mars. It was the face of his Physical Core - the face of Aurelius.
'WHAT THE -?! HO-HOW ARE YOU ALIVE? I DIDN'T MEAN I-!' A last unbearable scream could be heard escaping the body of this unknown beast, as it got crushed inside an invisible force reducing it to floating chunks of flesh, that got absorbed by the winner of this battle. The monster will be forgotten as everything else that happened. Not even its name will be remembered as it hadn't mentioned it. That is one of the cycles in the Greater Void - Only the strong survive!
... CONGRATULATIONS - DEFEATED AN UNKNOWN VOID BEAST ... GAINING AUTHORITY IN THE GREATER VOID ... ACTUAL AUTHORITY : 0.3% (When using the connection to the Greater Void your stats are boosted by 10% and your ability to control the Void is enhanced) ...

MetaShadow Mars's thoughts: "There exist so many different kind of Void creatures in this incomprehensible world and all I have met until now, where way too terrifying... Maybe I will meet some lower ones to try out my Taming ability. But right now so many archaic species search for me, I have to deal fast with this problem..."
