Closing from work the following day, Seo-yeon finally decided to check on her mother since Ma-ri had seriously threatened to take Ji-hoon along, despite knowing she didn't want anyone else to know about her son.
Knowing Ma-ri very well enough, daring her was completely out of the option.
"Yoon-suh, send me the location of where you are right now. I'm coming over for a visit." Seo-yeon softly said over the phone and a cheerful voice responded.
"Oh thank you so much young miss. I really appreciate it!" Yoon-suh thanked over the phone and once that conversation was done, Seo-yeon hung up.
A frown noticeably appeared on Seo-yeon's lips as she recognized the location Yoon-suh sent to her. It was the house where she usually spent her summer holidays back when she was a kid. It was owned by her mother.
"I hope this is worth it." Seo-yeon mumbled as she got into the car and drove down to the location which was an hour and half drive from Elegance.
Seo-yeon curiously glanced around the place she was driving past. The place seems to have changed since the last time she went there. Although there weren't many houses, it was still beautiful and brought out the summery vibe.
Her drive to the house was smooth and no traffic as it was a silent place unlike the city. Seo-yeon stopped the car when she got to the front of the large white mansion that she was told to be in. With the look of things Yoon-suh was right about the properties sold. The house doesn't look well maintained on the outside.
"Welcome young miss." Yoon-suh quickly rushed out of the house with a worried look on her face.
"Thank you, so where is she? I'm really busy right now and I don't have all the time in the world to visit her with." Seo-yeon clearly stated, causing Yoon-suh to immediately lead her into the house.
Seo-yeon appreciated the fact that the inside was still okay and beautiful. A large picture of her and her brothers was the first thing she saw when she stepped in but she didn't care about it and just followed Yoon-suh into the room.
Seo-yeon was taken aback when she saw her mother's weak figure laying on the bed. It was worse than she thought and emotions couldn't help but rush in.
"Madam. Young miss Seo-yeon is here to see you." Yoon-suh politely whispered to her and her hands moved gently as she forcefully opened her eyes.
"Seo…. Seo-yeon." Her mother, Ari called out with her broken voice. With her look no one could tell the woman was sixty plus, she looked like a hundred years old woman who had been deprived of her rights.
"What's wrong with her? You couldn't take her to the hospital or something? Do you want her to die?" Seo-yeon yelled at Yoon-suh who almost jumped out of her skin when she heard Seo-yeon's angry voice.
"I'm so sorry, young miss. Boss had no hospital to take her in and he only gave her his doctor to take care of her. He gave her the same medications everytime and her condition only seems to worsen." Yoon-suh silently sobbed and Seo-yeon picked her phone to call Ge-un, immediately dialing his number.
"Ge-un I need you to come over right now. It's urgent." Seo-yeon seriously informed him once the call went through, giving Ge-un not a single chance to even respond to her urgency. He just saw her text and walked out of his office.
"Ma-ri, what's wrong with Seo-yeon? She called me right now and said she needs me urgently." Ge-un asked as he drove across the city at high speed.
"Maybe she went to visit her mother already. Mrs Ari is sick so I guess she went to visit her." Ma-ri replied and Ge-un hummed before hanging up.
~
"Seo…."
"Save your strength mother." Seo-yeon replied as she held her hands trying as much as possible not to let any tears out.
"I'm sorry my….. child. I….I never knew what I had…. until I lost you…." Ari coughed due to the soreness in her throat and Seo-yeon could do nothing more except to pat her hands gently.
"It's okay mother. You can talk to me later when you're okay but now, save your strength." Seo-yeon sniffed.
Before Ari could say another word, the sound of the ambulance could be heard and not up to a minute, Ge-un rushed in with some nurses and men with stretchers.
"She's going to be fine." Ge-un assured the teary eyed woman as Ari was put in the ambulance. Watching her mother go,she couldn't help but only nod her head in response.
Seo-yeon and Yoon-suh drove after the ambulance and Ge-un's car as they returned to the hospital. As Seo-yeon could see, her mother's condition had worsened.
"I'm sure she's going to be fine young miss." Yoon-suh softly assured while holding onto her hopes but the lady she was trying to cheer up barely said anything in response, she just focused on the road as she drove on.
After an hour of waiting in the hospital, Ge-un walked out of the emergency room and for the first time, he had a tired expression on.
"She's fine and will be transferred to her ward very soon. Almost all her organs have been damaged. She's been poisoned by some particular pills given to her." Ge-un explained to Seo-yeon who shot Yoon-suh a deadly glare and the poor lady took a step back.
"Thank you very much for your help Ge-un. I owe you one really." Seo-yeon sighed before turning her attention to Yoon-suh.
"It wasn't me young miss. Infact, I'm not allowed to touch her medications."
Yoon-suh fell on her knees sobbing gently. .
"The doctor comes everyday and gives her the pills. All he says is that I should give her warm soup every one hour after using the drugs. Please young miss."
"And how am I to believe you?" Seo-yeon raised a brow in firm inquiries, causing the lady to bow her head in defeat.
"I can ask the doctor to come over and you can take a look at the pills yourself. I swear young Miss, I'm innocent."
