20% Siren's call and the Cursed Prince / Chapter 17: Want to see her face

Chapitre 17: Want to see her face

Uninterested and aggravated, Prince Eric stood in the aisle, his face holding little to no expression. However, his eyes beheld frustration and anticipation to find Victor. Lord knew where they took him or what they did to him. Though the Queen had promised not to harm him, he didn't trust her. Beside his father's illness the other sole reason to ask for the marriage urgently was to ensure Victor's safety.

A few moments have passed when he saw Victor entering through the open door and he let out a breath of relief. He appeared alright and quite…happy to be precise. That had Draveric frowning. 'Bastard, must have been having fun all this while.' He thought inwardly, glaring in his direction. Victor in return gave him a bright smile as he came to stand by his side.

"Hey, hey! Didn't know you were planning on stealing a Siren this way." Victor nudged an elbow in his side and Eric gritted his teeth.

"I was wondering if you remembered that Alicia was waiting for you back home." He tilted his face to send a mocking glance in Victor's direction.

"Oh brother, I found a better Alicia here." Victor leaned closer and whispered in his ear, grinning like a monkey.

"And you are leaving her here as well." Eric grinned back, showing off his pearly teeth.

"That's not fair. You are having one for yourself, why…Ah never mind!" Upon seeing Eric's face darkening he immediately stopped whatever he was about to say. "By the way, how long will it take? Our families will get done with our imaginary funerals meanwhile."

"We will be leaving in a while and will reach the land till dawn approximately." Eric replied to him while his eyes searched through everything habitually. He could never stand somewhere without instinctively observing everything and memorizing every necessary detail. He was famous for his keen memory and sharp instincts; that was the reason.

The aisle was decorated with beautiful flowers and there was a huge stone-carved bowl of water that was placed in the middle. The sirens were walking around putting strange and many things inside that water bowl that was causing the water to shimmer. He was trying to figure out what they were putting inside it but he was not familiar with any of it.

One thing he recognized and that was the gold dust that he had seen the master magician using in the potion he made for him. He knew that the dust was made out of the Siren's shells which they shed. That reminded him of the small ball that was securely residing in the pocket of his pants. That was also given to him by the master magician and it was for him to recognize the Siren he was looking for. The ball was black but was supposed to heat up and go colorless upon touching a Siren with unshed scales.

They were taking too long and his patience was running thin. It was near that he had lost it but Xobaria entered the room right then. She stopped and behind her appeared a figure covered in white flowers and a veil covering her face. His eyes narrowed at his 'bride'. He couldn't see anything about her neither her face nor her body and that raised some suspicions inside him. They could be marrying him to some sea monster, how could he know?

Xobaria walked Aurora down the aisle until they came to stand before him. Where Eric was standing was a little higher from them so unwillingly he had to offer his hand to her. Aurora was reluctant and hid her hands under the veil but upon Xobaria encouragement, reluctantly she slipped her hand inside his big, rough looking one. Her small hand fitted perfectly inside his large palm.

Upon seeing her hand, the creases on Eric's forehead smoothed a little but he still wasn't completely sure, thus he asked, "I want to see her face to make sure that I am not getting scammed."

"This isn't possible." Xobaria spoke immediately.

"Then this wedding isn't possible." He shot back.

"Listen, Prince Draveric, it isn't allowed for you to see her face before the ritual because it is a bad omen. It's part of the tradition." She tried to make her tone persuading but he wasn't buying it anyway.

"I don't believe in this bullshit." He rolled his eyes and without giving her any time to think he grasped the end of the veil, pulling it off completely…
