Chapitre 27: Simon's Potential
Arya looked at her brother who was also a walking encyclopedia. She didn't know much about Volcanic unicorns but the name sounded interesting to her.
Simon understood what her gaze meant and said "Volcanic unicorns as the name suggests reside on volcanos. Their horns and hairs are very sought after. Its horns can be used by alchemists to make different potions as well as can be used as a projectile. When activated with mana, the horns become as hot as lava and can cut through anything like butter. On the other hand, the unicorn's hairs aren't too rare as they fall off their neck and tail every few months but the hair has a strong fire attribute in them and can create a fire arc just like Mr. Rutmod said."
Arya nodded after hearing this and then she looked at Rutmod and said "What does the other whip do?" The other whip looked as if it was made by joining arrow-shaped pieces of metal together.
Rutmod picked it up and said "First of all this isn't just a whip but a whip sword. When it is loose like this then it is a whip and when it is tightened it becomes a sword." he said as he turned the grip clockwise and jerked the whip only for the entire whip to connect to each other and form a one-handed sword.
"Wow, that's so cool." Blake said. He had read about some weapons in one of the books Harold gave but there was nothing called a whip sword in it.
Rutmod handed the whip over to Arya who tried converting the whip to a sword and back but was only half successful. Her face was getting red trying it again and again which made Rutmod laugh.
"Haha...serves you right. The whip sword is not easy to use and that's the reason few people use it. One needs mastery over the whip as well as the sword to be able to use this. The special feature of this weapon is when activated, the tip of the whip will become red hot. This increases the penetration ability of the sword by 8% and if you are using it as a whip then it can burn skin like hot metal. The injuries won't be deep but extremely painful and the scars gotten by it will not go by a simple healing potion."
Arya smirked and said "I will take the whip sword."
Simon hurriedly stopped her and asked "Are you sure? You will have to master 2 weapons."
Arya looked at him and said "So what...it means I will have to defeat you with a sword as well." This caused Simon along with her parents who were hearing this to facepalm themselves.
"This battle maniac..." Anya shook her head seeing her daughter's attitude. Alan's mother and Sheila couldn't help but giggle at their friend's headache.
"Now you nerdy-looking one. What's your name?" Rutmod asked as he looked at Simon. Blake thought Simon would be a little embarrassed by it but instead, Simon's chest puffed out proudly. He took pride in being called a nerd. He came ahead and introduced himself "Mr. Rutmod I am Simon Blaze. And my soul spirit is a flaming sword." Simon then proceeded to activate his soul spirit. Seeing his flaming sword Rutmod looked a little surprised and said "Why is such a good offensive type soul spirit in the hands of a nerd like you? I thought you would have a flaming pen, quill, or something like that. But still, this is a good soul spirit for fighting."
Simon nodded at what Rutmod said. Even he knew that his soul spirit had the potential to make him a strong star master and he could even ascend to a galaxy master. He had decided that he won't fall back in training his fighting prowess or else Arya might thrash him up and down and his mom will thrash his dad. Rutmod followed the same routine as he did for Alan and Arya but this time he brought 4 swords. The swords had their sheaths on them so only the handle was visible.
"Swords are a common weapon and many soul masters and warriors choose swords. I can tell you about every sword or just show you the one which will suit you the best." Rutmod said as he looked at a grey-colored sheath. Simon was confused as he heard this and asked "Why? Are the rest of the swords not suitable for me?"
Rutmod shook his head and looked at Harold and Anya standing at the entrance and waved his hand and said "All of you come here." Harold was also confused at this. "Why is he calling us now? I thought Simon's soul spirit was pretty straightforward." Anya shrugged at that and said "I don't know…let's see."
As they came near the kids, Elena noticed that Blake was a little tensed. She leaned toward Sheila and asked "Something is bothering Blake. Did he tell you anything?"
Sheila chuckled and said "Actually he is just underestimating his own soul spirit and he doesn't know what weapon to choose. He has never been a timid kid but seeing all this for the first time has shaken his confidence a little."
Seeing the women talking among themselves Rutmod cleared his throat and said 'Ahem…I called you here because Simon's soul spirit is a one-handed sword but nowadays people choose weapons a little different from their own soul spirit weapon which makes them diverse in more kinds of finding. I think Simon can do that and his soul spirit can handle it as well. But things like this will require him to start the training at an early level. So I needed the parent's permission in cases like this."
Harold had heard about this but he never thought Simon would be able to do it. Simon was more of the studious and research kind. He had already thought of how to teach Arya sword along with her whip but now even Simon was going to something similar. Harold looked at his son and asked "What do you think Simon?"
