"And what is a shinigami doing in my room? I doubt it is to reap my life." Yuki sat down with her legs crossed and arms crossed across her chest. She had grown up in her past life training with her elder sister so she could tell when someone had the intention to harm her. It was one of the first things her elder sister tried to instill into her siblings. Learn to feel when you might be in danger. And the girl with teary eyes rubbing her shins was not a dangerous person if you could call her a person.
"I actually came to talk to you. I have seen you multiple times today, and each time I felt your eyes on me. So I decided to come and talk with you." Rukia answered as she finally calmed down.
"I see. So I wonder why I can see…."
"Yuki, I need to head out for a bit. Don't leave the house." Jiraiya's voice came from the other side of the door. Jiraiya could hear Yuki talking to someone. But he could not hear the other person. He was not sure what was wrong with her, but it seemed something was going on. As he left the house, Jiraiya stood just outside the door. "Shinigami? A death god?"
Jiraiya decided not to take any chances as he began quickly forming hand signs. "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
"Yo!" A small orange frog appeared in front of Jiraiya.
"Gamakichi, I need you to keep an eye on Yuki and tell me everything that happens." Jiraiya did not know exactly what was going on. He just felt that he should keep an eye on things just in case.
"Alright. Leave it to me!" Gamakichi turned and hopped away, going towards the side of the building where Yuki's window was. Only then did Jiraiya turn to leave. However, he did not plan to go far. He just wanted to stay far enough away to see what Yuki was up to. He may be feeling suspicious, but he had decided to take Yuki under his wing even though she may become a danger to Konoha. He hoped that by raising her and teaching her, she would protect this place. And even though he had talked with her, he still had to be cautious.
Back inside Yuki's bedroom, Yuki was having a headache. Rukia was holding up a few signs with a bunch of doodles on them that made no sense. "Do you understand?"
"I understand that your drawings are utterly horrible." Yuki answered without even blinking an eye. She wondered why Rukia had such a smug expression on her face when showing off such horrible pictures.
"How are my cute little drawings bad!?" Rukia seemed very offended. She looked at her drawings and thought that they looked very good.
"Anyway…. What you are trying to say is that these hollows will try to eat other souls of both the living and the dead. And they are drawn to people with strong reiryoku? And only humans with a certain amount of reiryoku are able to see these hollows and shinigami?" Yuki was still trying to wrap her head around all of this, but it did answer one thing. What she saw earlier, that she thought was just a trick of her eyes, was really this thing called a hollow.
Yuki held her head in her hands, trying to take it all in. "So on top of being in some strange body and in some strange land with a power I can not control, I now also have this reiryoku…. And if I still have my psychokinesis, I will have three different kinds of power."
"You said a strange body?" Rukia stared at Yuki while rubbing her chin before her eyes went wide. "I have never seen such a fusion. Your soul integrated with this body perfectly. And what's more, the soul that was once in it was not even consumed by you. It is like it left willingly."
"She probably died…." Yuki answered solemnly. "I think the little girl could not handle her own powers. But I will say this, I did not choose to inhabit this body. When I originally died in my world, I woke up in this body. So do not get the wrong idea."
"No, you got me wrong. I was saying this because the fusion process of a soul trying to inhabit another body is usually messy and never one hundred percent, but you… your soul merged perfectly. Almost as if it was made for you." Rukia was truly intrigued. "Then how about…."
*Rawr!*
A loud roar echoed through the room. It was so loud that Yuki had to cover her ears. "What is this!?"
"A hollow! But this pressure…" Rukia immediately stood up and was on full alert. The sound of the hollow was too close. Without even hesitating she grabbed Yuki by the arm and quickly dodged to the side.
*Boom!*
The whole wall by Yuki's bed suddenly exploded as Rukia jumped out of the window and onto the street. Yuki was like a sack of potatoes as she bounced all over. When Rukia landed, Yuki's poor little bum slammed off the ground quite hard. "Ouch! Be easier!"
"No time. Stay put and do not move." Rukia yelled out as another crashing sound was heard as the railing to the top floor was smashed through. A monster with a skull head and black body suddenly landed on the street, causing too large foot imprints to form.
On a building top not far away, Jiraiya was having a very hard time trying to figure out what was going on. Gamakichi had suddenly returned to him and told him that Yuki was in danger. When he arrived, he was just in time to see Yuki moving through the air as if being carried by someone. He had never seen anything like it in his life. And upon seeing more destruction to their apartment and the huge footprints he was even more confused because he couldn't see anything!
"Are you not going to go and save her?" Gamakichi asked feeling confused as to why Jiraiya was not moving.
"Not yet…."
