The running engine of the electric bike died down, yet the girl behind the driver refused to get down. She continued to hug the driver and puckered her lips as she watched the students entering the school that morning. Her one-week suspension was up, but she didn't know if she was really allowed to come to school again. After all, she didn't know how to address the people who knew about what she had done.
Megan didn't want to alight from the bike. Else, she would be left on her own.
"Don't you want to go to school today?" It was a little late to ask, but Mabel still smiled at this sobbing girl behind her. "You have to report to your teachers, Megan. How about this? I'll pick you up later instead, so we can eat again after you survive your school day."
"Why didn't Ansel tell me that human schools are so hard to get by?" Megan shoved her face at his back. "But you promised! Don't be like that snot-face and appear late."
