I checked how much Hp I had left
The green bar is getting desperately low
I'm barely alive. Hanging on by a thread
How will I manage to survive?
To tell you the truth, I have absolutely no idea.
How the hell did it come to this?
Even after evolving, I still relied on surprise attacks to fight, as always.
I went up to level 2 pretty quickly, practically in the blink of an eye.
Apparently, the amount of experience needed to level up was not cumulative.
Since I had managed to evolve and move up a level, I thought it would be a good time to develop new tactics and maybe get new skills with my skill points.
I had a good amount of points, a total of 690 skill points, so I got a few good skills.
The first was Thread manipulation.
Just as its name suggests, it allows me to manipulate my thread.
By consuming Mp to summon it, I can move my thread as much as I want. It was a wonderful ability that suited me quite well, since my spider thread is practically my main weapon.
However, being level 1, the thread was hardly twisted.
Damn it!
Well, it's still better than magic skills that I can't use well or at all, and it should be easier to level it up, so using it will eventually be easier.
The second skill... to be frank, it was a mistake, I still don't know whether to call it a good mistake or a terrible mistake.
You see, for someone like me who relies a lot on surprise attacks, being able to detect enemies is very important.
Not only to be able to jump over a monster, but also to make sure that I don't fall into a surprise attack myself.
So, I acquired the skill called Detection.
But it gives me a terrible headache every time I use it, so I decided to disable it semi-permanently for the time being.
I also got myself Flight, as I have always wanted to fly at least once in my life, so I might try to accomplish it in this one.
The downside? I can barely float a little in the air, let alone glide.
In the end I was left with 150 points, Detection cost quite a lot so I decided to keep these 150 points and save for more for the future.
And with these new skills in my mind, I continued my exploration.
Mastery has reached the required level. Skill [Appraisal Lv5] has become [Appraisal Lv6].
Appraisal! My dear companion! You've leveled up again! Now I'm finally making progress!
I'm going to assume that the maximum Appraisal level should be the same as night vision, i.e., 10, so it should be ready to be useful now... probably!
I held my breath as I checked my self-Appraisal.

... What... the... hell... was... that...?!
What? Whaaaat? Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
Who the hell are you and what did you do to Appraisal-chan! You are no longer the same useless little girl that I was secretly disappointed in! You are now so cool and fantastic for being able to do this!
What happened to my true Appraisal-chan?!
And what am I supposed to do with the "Useless!" complaint I had prepared in my mind?!
What was supposed to happen is that I was going to get my hopes up that I wasn't making a mistake with you, only to find out that all I got was a new feature that made absolutely no sense, and I'd end up grumbling about it!
How can you betray me like that!
Answer me, damn it!
…
Huff... Huff... Huff... Huff...!
Whoopsie, I think I got a little agitated there.
Easy em... I'll call myself Wakaba-chan, easy Wakaba-chan, breathe in and out, breathe in and out...
Ok I have managed to calm down.
Ahh...
Wasn't that too much for a small evolution of my skill Appraisal? The difference between lv5 and lv6 is too extreme.
Although this is what I wanted you to Appraisal from the beginning.
Even so, I did not expect such a growth all of a sudden.
It's as if a fellow middle school nerd had the nerves to suddenly change his image in high school.
And yes, I know, it's a really strange comparison I made.
Anyway, this new and improved Appraisal-chan is actually amazing. I can now read my once total mystery statesmen at a glance.
There is one small problem, though.
Is it just my idea, or are my stats super low?
I don't have anything to compare them to, so I'm not sure how bad they are, but they certainly don't seem that high for someone who has made it to Lv10 and evolved once.
And then there is the matter of the speed statistic.
My speed is at least 10 to 20 times higher than any of my other skills. Weird, isn't it? I know I'm pretty fast, after all I managed to escape those anthropoid demons, but this is ridiculous.
Well, well, well.
Now I just want to be able to compare my stats with some other monster.
Although, based on my results so far, the likelihood of you succeeding in Appraisal your statistics is not very high.
In fact, I have not yet succeeded in Appraisal any monster, besides its level of course, not even once.
But since my skill level increased, it was possible that my success rate went up as well.
I could at least give it a try, no one is taking away my attempt.
I went out on the prowl for monsters and finally found one that looked like a mouse.
All right, let's see what you can do now Appraisal-chan.
Elroe Greym | Lv2 | Failed state appreciation.
Hmm... well, it was just as I suspected, Appraisal the stats of other monsters is still tough. Oh well, I can't do nothing about that
Swish, Swish, Swish... Fwump! Swish, swish, swish Bite!
Mastery has reached the required level. The skill [Venomous Fangs Lv6] has become [Venomous Fangs Lv7].
Oooh. poison fangs you are great!
Now that I know for sure how weak my stats are, it's not an exaggeration to say that there was no way I could attack without my bite, not including my poor control over magic.
Therefore, the level of my first and best attack, Venomous Fangs, is really very important.
Anyway, that was enough for today.
I made a small, simple net in place.
Now that I have my safety assured, I could eat the mouse... or not, Actually, I wasn't hungry. It wasn't that I couldn't eat, I think it's better to save it for tomorrow, when I'll probably be hungry.
So, I left him and went to sleep.
Oh yes, there is one more thing.
Nyoooom. Tug, tug, Bloop.
No, it was nothing obscene, you perverts. I was practicing Thread Manipulation.
As a result of my training, I discovered that I could only control. It also moved close to the speed of a snail. As long as the thread touched my body, the control range was quite large. And the Mp consumption was by far, negligible. More than you can believe!
At the moment, it doesn't really have much battle potential.
Then, before going to sleep, I thought I would use some Mp to practice more and see if I could level it up. If I did that, the limitations should improve as well.
I also decided to practice Flight, in fact I practiced them both together, since their mana expenditure between the two was still very insignificant.
With flight training, I also discovered a few things. For example, I could hover in the air for about 3 seconds before falling back to the ground. I also rise a one meter off the ground. I can't move while I'm floating but I can use other abilities while I'm floating. And as I said, its mana expenditure is negligible.
In fact, when I see my mana drop to 25/36, I eat some rocks to bring it back up.
The rocks are still tasteless, but I've gotten used to it.
Since Appraisal-chan turned out to be a late bloomer, Thread Manipulation and Flight will probably become useful at level 6 or so.
Although it might take a while to get to that level.
Anyway, once your level is a little higher, there will be some things I want to deal with.
For now, I hope to bring back my abandoned enemy detector thread project, since my Detection skill is out of play for being useless.
Yes, I know, I dream big, but you can't blame me.
Proficiency has reached the required level. The skill [Thread manipulation Lv1] has become [Thread manipulation Lv2].
Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Flight Lv1] has become [Flight Lv2].
Who says hard work isn't good?
Nyoooom. Tug, tug. Bloop
With the increase in level, the range of motion of the yarn improved a little.
I can also float for a second longer in the air and fall more gently to the ground.
I may reach the practical point much sooner than I expected.
I still have plenty of Mp left, and I have rocks and yarn around me to eat so I can use gluttony, so I decided to push myself harder so I could gain more dominance.
Yaaaaaawn.
Waaaah, what a good night's sleep.
In the end, I got so caught up in my yarn practice that I finally fell asleep, but I managed to level up Thread Manipulation and Flight to level 3.
Actually, I had planned to keep improving my mastery until I finished my threads and rocks, but then I remembered that a good night's sleep is essential, so in the end I gave up.
It was also because I once forgot to eat and almost ended up spending my Mp foolishly, causing me to almost faint, and I honestly had a bad feeling about that.
I honestly can't explain why exactly, but something inside me told me that it would be dangerous not to have Mp, so I decided to stop before something like that could happen again.
After a good night's sleep, my Mp recovered completely, I had left it at 15 or so.
That's fantastic. In that case, I should practice my Thread Manipulation and Flight before going to sleep every night.
Hey, wait a minute. Since I'm fully recovered, couldn't I do it in the morning too?
I mean, I don't normally use my Mp anyway, hypnosis has been left for emergencies, telepathy is no good in combat and no monster is that smart, not to mention my elemental magic which I'm already discouraged from trying to use.
So, I should use my Mp more productively, and what better way than to use it on skills that actually have good progress?
Besides, if I need the Mp, I can always replenish it with gluttony or let it replenish naturally.
Yes, I will do that, it seems more efficient for me.
If something goes wrong, I might just change it to once a day tomorrow, but I think it would do me good to try.
And so, I practice with Thread Manipulation and Flight. When I was about to eat a rock to replenish my mp...
Proficiency has reached the required level. The Skill [Thread Manipulation Lv3] has become [Thread Manipulation Lv4].
Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Flight Lv3] has become [Flight Lv4].
...a message arrived from the system-chan.
Good, very good. That was pretty easy.
You practiced non-stop and made good use of your skills, obviously it was easy.
Heh, thanks for the compliment system-chan
I say that while eating a rock, my mp is already pretty low, so I can't test the upgrade without running out of rocks to eat, but I guess level 4 should have a decent level of growth.
I probably still have no use in combat, but maybe I can at least experiment with making protective clothing and floating in my temporary home or something. I was already looking ahead to tomorrow.
Anyway, it's time for breakfast. Fortunately, I still have that monster mouse from the day before, so my main course will be delicious.
Hmm, they taste strangely like rabbit.
Quite tasty.
Oh look, my Mp has fully recovered, good for me.
Even so, I won't be practicing again soon, I'll save it for later.
However, I have been in good shape.
This is a sign that things are going well. It was almost as if the universe was telling me to enjoy my peaceful times.
I feel that this is what people would say: "the calm before the storm".
But I have to make the most of it, I can't stop now!
All I have to do now is to get stronger and make my way out of the labyrinth.
I know that this blessed labyrinth is unnecessarily large, so finding the exit is not an easy thing, so it will take a long time.
Anyway, today is another day to do my best! Hehe he!
Tu-ru-ruu
I am exploring the labyrinth in a good mood; with this mood I will make good use of these days.
I mean, with the great shape I'm in, no monster in the area could be as good as me.
As long as I notice them before they notice me, I can defeat them with a surprise attack!
And if not, well, at this point, I might be strong enough to win a fair fight, right?
My evolution probably made me much stronger, and my skill levels are quite high, so I probably couldn't embarrass myself like in the fight with the perverted frog.
I mean, I can't say I could win 100%, but my confidence tells me it could be 75-25 now, at least.
The thing was the Detection skill was an embarrassment, but even so, I felt a little more cheerful thanks to the evolution, so...
Come to me, bro!
Just kidding.
Hmm?
Why do I suddenly get that horrible feeling so suddenly?
It's like my instincts are screaming at me to get out of there immediately.
I turned around slowly.
Not far away, just down the path I was following, a group of men dressed as adventurers chased me.
Oh, shit! Humans!
And they were unmistakably fixed on me!
But it was probably nothing I couldn't handle with my recent evolution, right?
Human : Lv29 : Name: Gordeau : Failed Status Appraisal
Human : Lv27 : Name: Bardon : Failed Status Appraisal

Human : Lv27 : Name: Jolliere Justeau : Failed Status Appraisal

Human : Lv23 : Name: Lekin : Failed Status Appraisal
Shit!
What the hell do you mean by level 29?!
Even if you count me as being level 12 overall, that's still more than double!
And 6 humans around that level?! I'm like a snowball in hell!
Run!
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run!
Ah, I came to a crossroads in the road.
Let's see, left, or right? I think I'll go... right... wait, hmm?
Look to the road on the left
Elroe Baladorado | Lv9 | Failed status Appraisal
Are you kidding me?!
The snake I fought before had a similar level, how am I supposed to defeat one of those if it's not entangled in my nets?!
Oh god, a snake in front of me and humans behind me?!
Both sides are looking right at me!
Run! Down the passage to the right! There's no way I'm going to take on a deadly human-monster combo head-on!
Who was the idiot who said "come to me, bro"?! Well, me, who else!
Nope! Nai wa!
That snake alone was a dungeon boss than the other monsters!
And you're telling me there are more of that type rolling around as often as normal monsters?!
And why the hell are humans chasing me right now?!
Waaaaaa!
What are all those noises behind me?!
Too fast! How are they able to keep up with me! My speed was 348!
I thought it was an area where I was better than any other monster!
Who the hell would think that they could keep up with me!
Huh?! More monsters?!
Elroe Randanels | Lv5 | Failed status Appraisal
Elroe Randanels | Lv4 | Failed status Appraisal
Elroe Randanels | Lv4 | Failed status Appraisal
Whaaaaaat?! Of all times, I get the stupid trio!
If it was just one, I could just pass it and that's it! How the hell am I supposed to sneak past a line of three?!
W-What am I going to do?! Come on! Oh, God, I don't even have time to think!
Okay, it's now or never!
Without stopping running at top speed, I slipped over the wall!
Good! I did it! I really did it!
Successful wall run! Pass over the 3 monsters with a great success!
I heard a commotion behind me, but I still didn't look back!
I have no idea how long those three might buy me time, but I had to take a break while I had the chance!
Sorry about that, guys. This is just another occasion of survival of the fittest.
Now, sacrifice yourselves to become my cannon fodder! Bwa-ha-ha!
Thanks to using those monsters, I made it out alive! I should probably dedicate a little prayer of thanks to them... wait, huh?
Is there a crack... in the road?
Wait, wait, wait... another trap like the one in the centipede's nest?!
Waaaah! No, no, no! I'm running too fast! There's no way I can stop in time!
Waaaaaa!
Suddenly I rushed headlong into a dark place.
Hmm? Oh, wow, what a terribly deep and wide hole. You'll probably die if you fall in here.
Hmm, wait, falling?! I'm falling! Nai waaaaaa!
A bungee jump without a rope?! You're kidding! Wait! A wire? A rope!
Come on, spider-chan thread, work with me!
Shoot some thread and stick it to the wall!
All right, I am save- whoof!
Ouchie, that really hurt.
I managed to stop falling, but the recoil threw my body into the wall at full speed.
Wow, I thought I was going to die.
Being chased by a snake and escaping only to fall off a cliff?
It's not cool at all.
Maybe I was being persecuted by my pride...
Okay, I get it. That's right, I regret it. I've seen the error of my ways, so could you turn off that annoyingly loud humming noise I've been hearing, please?

Bees.
It was a group of those giant monster bees that I had caught only once before in my net at my first home. And this time there was a whole swarm flown around this hole.
Um... hello...
Can we just pretend we never met and forget all this? Please?
You're as good as dead
Thanks for the encouragement, system-chan!
There was only one way to get away from the bees, which were coming to attack me.
And that way was down!
I'm diving again! I'm falling, but not like before!
I made the line attached to the wall more elastic and used it to get down safely, like a real Bungee. After bouncing two or three more times, I stuck to the wall and used another line.
Geronimoooooo!
Repeat this process a couple more times to lower.
And when I was close to the ground, I came down and broke my fall with Flight
I wish flying really allowed me to fly.
Anyway, all good, get safely to the ground!
But the bees from before are still rolling around me. I forced my tired body to start running again. I had to get out of there as fast as I could.
But it was too late.
A bee landed on me. Then, I felt an intense pain, originating in my back.
¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?! ¡¿?!
Ow! I've been stung!
There was something flowing into my body from the wound, wait a minute, that was... Poison!
There was no way I could fight against something that was stuck on my back and I could not turn my head to hypnotize it.
Wait, that's it.
I still have my mp so I can use it for something else!
I'm not going to take a chance with elemental magic, I need something that I know will work.
Using Thread Manipulation, I managed to manipulate my thread and attach it to the bee on my back. I then wrapped the thread around it to restrain the monster.
Success!
I grabbed the thread and ripped the bee off my back, slamming it on the ground like a judo master!
I wanted to kill her and eat her right here, but running away is a much higher priority!
I hid in the shadow of a rock against the wall. The giant bees should not be able to trap me in such a small place.
Already here, I sued heal to heal some of my hp.
I managed to survive, somehow.
But I didn't come out unscathed. I couldn't see it with my own eyes, but I knew I had a huge hole in my back.
I had 15 Hp left, 9 recovered thanks to heal. The other 30 had disappeared thanks to that simple attack.
I was not surprised.
I knew I had a low defense. I was thankful that my spider body was tenacious enough to survive a wound of that magnitude.
He was also lucky to have a high resistance to poison.
That thing definitely injected me with poison when it stabbed me.
I had no way of knowing how much damage I received from the poison and how much I received from the sting, so I didn't know if my ability had nullified all the poison. Still, there was no doubt that if it hadn't been for poison resistance, I would have been dead by now.
Most likely I would not be able to move for a while with this wound. I don't even know if heal would be able to heal itself.
What would be ideal at this time would be to level up and recover completely like last time.
That being the case, I really wanted to go and get the bee I caught, both for the gluttony food and for its experience points.
But getting out of here seemed like a bad idea.
Maybe I could attach a thread to it with Thread Manipulation and pull it up here a little at a time.
Suddenly, I had another feeling.
Carefully, I stepped out of the shadow of the rock.
There, I saw a bound bee struggling on the ground. And beyond, the shape of another monster approaching, slowly, but confidently.
Elroe Baladorado | Lv9 | Failed status assessment
The snake.
He chased me all the way here?!
No, I don't think so. They might have the same level, but I doubt the snake would be stubborn enough to chase me all the way here, and how would it even know I'm here?
That means it is another individual.
Shit.
There might be a few other of those snakes out there, even though it was weak type monsters to me.
If they found me while I was so badly injured, there was no way I could survive.
The snake slithered lazily toward the bee.
I instinctively activate stealth.
I beg you...you can keep that bee...just please don't see me.
I hadn't noticed that I had activated stealth.
But in the end, the snake did nothing to the bee.
Or to be more precise, he could not.
Something sliced through his body with terrible speed.
Hmm? have my eyes deceived me?
Before my eyes, whatever it was, it shredded the snake as easily as if it were paper. You know, the snake protected by super hard scales, scales that were iron in my eyes. It was just as, or less, fast than me and yet it didn't have time to react.
Earth Dragon Araba- Lv31 - Failed Status Appreciation
There he was, as calm as he could be.
The dragon that traumatized kumoko.
Contrary to his name, he looked more like a wolf.
He had all four feet on the ground.
A long queue.
Wingless.
What I saw was an incredibly majestic dragon.
I couldn't help but be amazed when I saw it.
But still, my spider instincts, my most primal instincts, were only screaming at me one thing.
Not a chance. There's no way you can defeat an opponent like that.
But I just replied
Not yet.
I am aware of the fact that I can't even call it an opponent in the first place. From that thing's point of view, I was nothing more than an insect.
The irony, I know.
She would not even be able to consider me as prey. She would be defeated the moment she considered me her enemy.
That's how extreme the difference between us was.
It was hardly worth thinking about their level.
Regarding the level, that thing was out of my league.
The Araba Earth Dragon began to chew the pieces of the snake, one by one.
I couldn't help but stare at him in wonder.
Proficiency has reached the required level. The Skill [Stealth Lv1] has become [Stealth Lv2].
Oh, thank you system-chan.
You're welcome, it couldn't be helped since after all you're looking at him so blatantly.
Hey, I'm undercover.
Hardly.
Shut up, will you?
I also couldn't help but notice that there were several rocks similar to mine around the field.
Hmm, timely, if there was someone else here, another spider or someone else my own size, they would be able to hide as well.
After he devoured the snake, Araba left without giving the bee a glance.
Thank you, araba-kun!
I know that most likely he would have noticed me, after all I used appreciation on him, and no matter what level I had him at, he would still have noticed me.
On this day, I've had more near-death experiences than I'd like to admit, but seeing araba with that display of power was great.
Just remembering it, my body trembled with fear but I got even more excited.
Stop shaking body!
You're the crazy one who gets off on seeing someone stronger, it should scare you, not excite you.
Shut up, what do you know!
Anyway, I have to get out of here
Hmm? Looking around, I see another bee wrapped in threads, but it's quite a bit farther away from me.
Is there another spider here?
Huh, who knew, I guess I'm not the only smart spider rolling around here.
Hopefully, she will be alive.
Well, anyway, I noticed that I was at the bottom of the hole I fell through. It seems to be a place with a diameter of 90 meters.
The depth was probably even greater than that, like around 200 meters, it might even be more than that.
Above me, I had a huge swarm of bees covering the area like a ceiling.
I am relieved that they were so far away that my Appraisal skill could not work.
Otherwise, they would have noticed me by now.
I might as well get knocked out by appreciating that horde.
If I wanted to go back to the area I came from, I would have to go through that swarm.
But climbing the cliff, with the shape I'm in... no way.
It will not happen.
I still didn't have good enough fighting skills to be able to fight while climbing.
I wouldn't be able to move properly, or even be able to aim my thread properly.
Where I fight best was in confined spaces.
Neither could I fly, my flight could not yet be considered as such, and even so I could not fight flying, although it would be easier than climbing.
The bees had the advantage over me, after all, they specialize in fighting in places like this.
Should I go the same way that Araba went?
I mean, it could be your home there, but it will most likely be a clear path as well.
...yes, I'd better not risk it.
Even if there really were no monsters, that could be their nest or where he roams, so it must be a place of strong monsters.
I can't, with an injury as serious as mine, fight any kind of monster.
Uh-oh. This could be the end
Said a voice in my head
I just shook my head; my instincts are going crazy today.
Well, here I am.
What should I do?
How do I survive this?
I don't have enough mana to use more heal and there are no loose rocks around me to use gluttony.
I will not let it all end like this, I will not let myself die.
So, there is only one thing I can do.
Planning.
