Hi, I'm Allysa, a five-day-old Filipino trainee at BigHit Entertainment. I'm not pretty or talented, but they saw my potential and accepted me as a trainee. I auditioned online and went to Korea for another audition (February 25, 2021), but it wasn't an audition. It was a competition. I thought I would lose, but I won (I won a Samsung Galaxy, 20,000 won, and a chance to be a trainee on ILand).
I also saw TXT, Hanbin, and five members of a Japanese pop group that will debut under BigHit. Unfortunately, I didn't see BTS. The schedule was tough. I thought being an idol would be easy, but it's not. But I didn't regret it. It was my dream after all.
My schedule is as follows:
4:00-5:00 AM: Workout
5:00-6:00 AM: Clean the dorm with other trainees
6:00-10:00 AM: School (By the way, I study at Seoul National University. My classmates are all foreigners, and there's a lot to do. My schedule is different from the rest of the trainees in our dorm because I'm the only one who trains in BigHit's old building. There are other trainees there, but a lot of them are in the new building. They said it's much better to train there, but I like it here because it's where the legends started.)
11:00 AM-8:00 PM: Training for vocal, dancing, rapping, instruments, and Korean etiquette (we have 20 minutes for lunch, but the allowance they give to the trainees is short. I can't even buy a full meal. Our dance trainer even said that I should lose weight.)
8:00-9:00 PM: Additional lessons such as flexibility, synchronization, and breathing/lunges exercises
9:00-10:00 PM: Schoolwork
10:00 PM-3:00 AM: Sleep
3:00-4:00 AM: Everyone should be ready
That's my life every day except Sunday. Sunday is our miracle. Day-off. It feels like we're interns at a company to become idols. Well, being an idol is a full-time job, right?
So this Sunday, I went out to go to our company (the old one). I'm wearing ordinary clothes (not my training clothes) and have my backpack that's loaded with my school works. I need to escape the zoo, I mean our dorm. The 14 trainee women are in chaos. I can't study and do my work there.)
There is this staff that I am close with. She's been here since 2016 and stays here to manage the building. She's half Vietnamese and half Korean and she speaks English. I contacted her yesterday to help me find a place to study. Although trainees are not allowed to go there on Sundays (but some go there on Sundays when evaluations are near), she told me that I can occupy a space on the rooftop since no one goes there except for one person. But I took the opportunity and said that it was okay. The rooftop is wide and big enough for both of us, so she gave me a duplicate key.
2:30 PM. I was sitting on the rooftop bench writing a Korean essay that I was required to do. I saw a mini room and it was unlocked. It's spacious enough. There's a chair, table, books, and instruments. I saw a notebook and opened it. It said "AGUST'D". Wait, what? So this notebook belonged to my husband, I mean my idol. God, so it means that this room is his mini studio. He has his own studio, but there's also one in the roof? I took the chance to put it in my bag. Sorry, but I'm a little obsessed. I fell asleep with my head on the table.
30 minutes later, knock 5x
I woke up and opened the door. A man in black attire, facemask, hat, and shades was there.
Me: Nuguya?
Man: Neon nuguji? Wae halzbyankqoan&-!2@-
Me: I'm sorry, I don't understand you.
Man: "What are you doing here?"
Me: "Huh? I mean, what? I don't understand you."
Man: "Why are you here?"
Me: "I have permission."
Man: "So?"
Me: "And who might you be?"
Man: "I'm a staff member."
Me: "How old are you?"
Man: "Twenty-nine."
Me: *coughs twice* "Excuse me?"
(He's shorter than my classmates, but his attire is excessively flashy, resembling that of an idol. His voice bears a striking resemblance to Yoongi's, although my classmate can also imitate Suga's voice. He claims to be a staff member, so, alright...)
-- We bombard each other with questions, seeking answers about why I'm here, who I am, and who he is. He reveals that he produces songs for BTS and works as a staff member for them. Over the course of four hours, we grow closer, engrossed in conversation, until it's time to bid farewell. Before he leaves, I boldly implore him to take care of my Yoongi. Yes, I referred to him as "My Yoongi." His laughter fills the air as he departs. We rendezvous every Sunday, except when BTS has shows, interviews, or comebacks. Once he returns from those engagements, he insists on treating me to dinner, but I decline. We share numerous similarities, such as our love for iced Americano, except for the significant age gap between us.
I debuted in ILand and experienced the joy of encountering Yoongi in real life. I can't help but wonder why his gaze is perpetually fixed on me. Even during the debut line announcement, he rises from his seat and applauds when my name is called. My life has become a whirlwind of activity. After five months, I find myself returning to the old building where I first encountered the enigmatic BTS staff member. My feelings for him have deepened, yet I can't allow myself to fall in love, as I have vowed to dedicate my heart solely to Yoongi. By chance, I spot him standing on the rooftop, clad in his trademark black attire, which obscures his identity. As our eyes meet, a smile graces my lips. He offers his congratulations in flawless Korean. For hours, we converse, pouring our hearts out in Hangul, until he musters the courage to confess his feelings. I gently decline.
"Why?" he implores, his words resonating in Korean. "I feel the same way, but my heart belongs to Yoongi. He is my muse, my everything. I made a promise to myself that he would be the sole recipient of my love. I'm sorry." I lock gazes with him, even if his eyes remain slightly blurred. He removes his hat, shades, and mask. And there, standing before me, is HIM. I'm at a loss for words. Memories of our conversations about Yoongi flood my mind. I had even playfully joked with this man about kidnapping Yoongi someday. He witnessed the tears streaming down my face, contorting it into an ugly mess, whenever I longed for my family. Little did I know that the one who had comforted me all along, who had stood by my side every Sunday, becoming my source of happiness and the reason behind my joyful Sundays, was Min Yoongi. I never could have fathomed it. He had dedicated himself to mastering English, a fact he had subtly hinted at during his Vlive sessions. I feel a mix of embarrassment, joy, and sorrow surge through me. I am now an idol—an idol who must refrain from dating
. But the man before me is the very reason I became an idol. Min Yoongi. He smiles, and I find myself returning the gesture. My heart feels empty, devoid of any expectations. "Was this all just a prank?" I cautiously inquire. "No. I truly love you," he responds, causing my emotions to overflow. And that's when he leans in and kisses me—a kiss that will forever remain etched in my memory.
"Ah, I'm an idol now, you know we can't..." My words falter as he embraces me, softly murmuring, "I understand." Tears stream down my face. He is everything I've ever wished for, but I can't allow him to sacrifice the thriving career he has built because of me. "I'm sorry, but I think we shouldn't be together." And with those words, I take my final steps off that rooftop. The memories of him and our time together will forever reside within me.
While the BTS members fulfill their military obligations, fans across the globe, including myself, shed countless tears. Even during their military service, they release four albums that were completed beforehand, along with ten episodes of "Run BTS!" Their popularity never wanes during those two years. Their two comebacks top the Billboard Top 100, and they even secure four Grammy Awards. They create a variety show documenting their lives in the military. Once they return, their fan base expands even further, ensuring their continued reign at the top. Their presence becomes legendary! However, Yoongi and I have not crossed paths since that fateful encounter.
Four years pass since our debut, and two years since BTS's return from military service. Big Hit's artists gather for a grand reunion party to celebrate. We are bestowed with the Artist of the Year (2022), Album of the Year (2023), and reach number one on the Billboard Top 100 (2023) (prior to BTS's album release during their military service). Furthermore, we win Grammy Awards (2024). There is so much to rejoice about for EN-, TXT, BTS, and our group, as we have become the leading artists in the K-pop industry.
In the rankings:
1. BTS
2. Our group
3. TXT
4. EN-
5. Treasure
Big Hit Entertainment emerges as the most successful company.
Every artist under Big Hit Entertainment and its affiliated labels collaborates to release albums, music videos, hold concerts, and even create a movie. Yoongi and I find ourselves engaging in conversations reminiscent of old times.
Following a busy schedule of collaborative projects involving Big Hit's artists, Yoongi invites me to dinner.
- Conversation in Korean -
Yoongi: Hi. (He says hesitantly)
Me: It's been quite some time, sunbaenim. Hehe.
Yoongi: (He smiles and responds) Haha, drop the formalities. We're not business partners, after all.
Me: (I simply smile)
Yoongi: Do you have a boyfriend?
Me: *coughs twice* (He hands me a tissue) I don't have one.
Yoongi: Good. Be my girlfriend.
Me: What? What about our careers?
Yoongi: If we keep it a secret, Dispatch will be the only ones prying into our relationship. We'll inform Bang PD-nim.
Me: What?
Yoongi: I've already spoken with him, and he's okay with it.
Me: And...?
Yoongi: I still love you.
The man who used to visit the rooftop every week eventually becomes my husband, four years after we publicly confirmed our relationship. Both BTS and our group continue to flourish, delivering music that profoundly touches
people's hearts. Once we become a couple—husband and wife—we evolve into an idol duo. BTS and our group consistently claim the top spots, winning awards for Artist, Album, and Song of the Year. Countless fans ship and support us.
I am a fan-turned-trainee who married her idol—a love story that defies all odds, penned with the melody of destiny.
