A brief silence existed in the chaotic realm before Gimli revealed a bitter smile and spoke.

"I wish I could say yes to your offer, but I can't." Gimli said.

Derek's eyes remained calm as his offer was rejected. Unlike Thorin, Gimli had a personality that he found appealing.

"Why did you reject my offer?" Derek asked.

"Unfortunately, our fight is not just for the dwarf race. This is a battle to expel invaders like you. If there is someone meant to inherit the power of the supreme deity, it's our gods who are born and bred in this world." Gimli explained 

Derek let out a defeated sigh, he felt it was unfortunate these dwarves were not that bright. Yes, this world created those old Gods, but it is also from this world that all other realms were derived. 

In the end, people like him just have as much claim to the seat of the supreme deity as every other person.
