Chapitre 37: Chapter 37 - "what's so funny?"

'Alcohol doesn't poison hybrids, right?' Declan thought a little nervously, glancing down at Faun.

That sounded a little ridiculous even to him, he would just have to hope that Faun would sleep it off.

Stretching out his muscles, he got on the bed and got comfortable.

He leaned over to put out his nightlight only to turn over to his other side and catch a fright because Faun was leaning ominously over him.

Alcohol didn't make him sleepwalk either, right?

"Faun?" He tried calling out to him.

Faun's response was a distracted hum, he still stared at him like he was trying to decipher something.

"Is something wrong?" He tried again.

"Mhm?"

"Is something wrong?" He repeated again, slowly this time.

Faun's response was to collapse on him, for the umpteenth time.

Declan decided then that wine was the one thing off limits to Faun, he didn't want to go through another night like this.

He was wary of falling asleep because Faun looked like he had been about to jump him before he blacked out.

He rolled Faun right off him, breathing a sigh of relief when he stayed asleep? Unconscious? He didn't even know.

Faun's breathing was even and he seemed okay. It looked like this time around he would stay asleep.

Eventually, Declan relaxed too, closing his eyes as he tried to get some sleep.

He was pulled back from the edge of his dreams by the feel of something soft against his lips.

Declan's eyes shot open to find Faun snuggling to his side, feeling like a hot water bottle and mumbling to himself.

"... I like Declan, he's very nice…" He mumbled to himself, holding onto Declan with an iron-like grip.

Declan held his breath, he knew he should have locked Faun in his room and just left him to sleep alone.

The current situation wasn't safe for either one of them.

Faun was uncomfortably warm to begin with and he didn't want another surprise out of the blue so he did the only thing he could.

When he was all done, he rolled over to his side to sleep.

Faun was drunk, he would probably not remember any of this tomorrow.

What kind of person would he be if he took advantage of that?

It was better this way, he was right not to trust leaving Faun all by himself, at least this way he could get to keep watch over him.

Faun woke up slowly, he felt groggy and disoriented, not having a single clue where he was.

He tried to rub the grogginess out of his eyes but his hands were stuck, this made him frown.

He looked around to try and figure out what was wrong to find himself tied to the headboard, sunlight streaming into the familiar room.

It was Declan's room. What had happened last night?

His anxiety skyrocketed when he glanced down and found himself shirtless.

"Declan!" He called out in outrage, naturally blaming him for everything.

Declan popped his head inside the room. "Oh? You're awake." He noted.

Faun wasn't slowing down. "Why am I tied to your bed?" He demanded.

Declan blinked, stepping inside his room. "You don't remember?" He asked, heading for the bed to help untie Faun's wrists.

"No." He mumbled cautiously. "What happened?"

Declan blatantly ignored his outright suspicion. "I figured, you don't remember drinking wine yesterday?"

Faun scrambled backwards when he was finally free, rubbing his wrists petulantly.

A furrow popped out between his brows as he visibly struggled to remember. "Wine?" He repeated, rubbing his forehead.

"It's fine if you don't remember." Declan dissuaded him, not wanting him to give himself a migraine or worse. "How do you feel?"

Faun did a quick check of his body, the grogginess was yet to leave but he felt just fine. "Okay?" He answered hesitantly. "Tell me what happened."

"You got drunk on wine." Declan replied briefly. "Do you have an appetite? I ordered something…" He continued with a straight face; he hadn't even considered cooking, some things were best left alone.

"No… I-I mean wait!" Faun cut him off, looking around for his shirt so he could pull it on. "That doesn't explain why I'm shirtless and tied to your bed." He huffed, trying to will the heat away from his face.

Declan's face gave nothing away. "Well, you sleepwalk when you're drunk, and you kept saying you were warm." He glossed over the truth.

It was easier to explain when Faun couldn't remember what happened. It was better this way.

"You might want to stay away from wines and alcohol in general next time." He added.

Faun huffed. "How could I have predicted this outcome?" He asked sarcastically, sweeping out of Declan's room.

"Just hurry back." Declan called to him when he went to his room, no doubt to clean up. "The food is getting cold." He added, rubbing the bite mark on his arm.

Tying Faun up had proved to be more of a headache than he could have ever imagined.

"Fine." Faun's petty response floated back.

He was most likely pissed because he couldn't remember anything, it was better than feeling mortified by a long shot.

Declan had gotten rid of the wine; he didn't drink wine for reasons known to only him and considering that Faun turned into someone else entirely when he got drunk, it was for the best for it to be disposed of.

Faun came out of his room, freshly showered but still in a huffy mood.

Declan bit back a smile of amusement, lifting his head from his phone.

Faun's pouty face made him what to ruffle his slightly damp hair but that would just add to the slew of bitemarks he already sported.

It was childish and a little cute for Faun to reflexively attack by biting when he was trying to stop Declan from tying him down. If he didn't have his hands full with the feisty fox, he might have laughed.

"Do you want to go to the grocery store after breakfast?" Declan asked after a while of tense silence.

Faun had slept in which was no surprise so it was already late in the morning, the sun shining brightly.

Just like that, Faun's anger was forgotten; his fox-like eyes twinkled in anticipation. "Of course!" He agreed immediately. "I need to stock up the necessities in the cottage but could we also get ingredients for this new recipe I want to…"

Declan didn't hold back his laughter this time, doubling over as he struggled not to choke on his mouthful of food.

Faun trailed off, a hint of irritation in his slanted eyes. "What's so funny?"

Declan's response was to ruffle his hair, his shoulder still quaking from mirth.

Faun immediately leaned back. "I'll bite you." He threatened coldly.

Declan only laughed harder.
