Chapitre 4: Big liar

After putting on his clothes John relaxed on the couch with Phoebe who was sitting beside him playing on her m phone. the man stared at the TV that was on showing action movies which were his favorite movies but what was on his mind was how to be alone with Rachel while still in this city.

Phoebe glanced at John who was looking straight ahead, wondering if maybe her husband was lying to her.

'But earlier I inhaled the scented perfume that is typical of women's perfume on his clothes. There's no way he's wearing women's perfume? And why is he carrying his phone in the bathroom? and who is calling so early in the morning?' Phoebe continues to feel curious while playing with her phone.

"Honey, it seems tomorrow I will be out of town because there is a project there," said John, glancing at Phoebe.

"Then I'll come with you, you haven't taken me out for a long time," said Phoebe, feeling even more uneasy because her husband suddenly wanted to get out of town.

"No, you don't need to come as this is not a visit to a nice place..you will be bored there because there is no electricity and the place is still very isolated. I'll be very busy there later."

"Isolated place?" Phoebe frowned, looking at John suspiciously.

"Yeah, honey. It's quite a secluded place..the location is rural and I plan to create jobs there so that the people there are more prosperous," explained John, starting to make up the story.

Phoebe immediately put her phone on the table then looked at John seriously. ."Honey, I like places like that. Please let me come with you!" she was begging too.

John paused restlessly, confused that this idea made Phoebe want to go with him. He looked back at his wife expectantly and then said,

"Honey you don't have to come because I was only there for 2 days. It will only tire you out if you come along...trust me."

"But I'm bored at home all the time," said Phoebe with a crooked face and a frown.

John also embraced Phoebe from the side and then said, "I promise after my business is done, I will take you for a vacation wherever you want. This is like a second honeymoon for us and more fun than coming with me out of town for 2 days."

"Second honeymoon?"

"Yeah... Going on vacation with you is like a second honeymoon because until now we haven't had a baby," said John, raising his eyebrows.

Phoebe looked at John who suddenly mentioned the baby, making her wonder if it was possible that her husband was cheating on her but still wanted a child from her. "Do you want to have a baby soon?" she asked.

John was silent for a moment then nodded slowly. "Of course, I want to have a baby because we are married and we have everything so there is nothing wrong with having a baby."

Phoebe smiled faintly, trying to change her mind about the smell of the perfume, and was reminded of the fact that she was late for her period.

"What happened? why are you smiling?" John wondered with a probing look at Phoebe.

"Emmm… Nothing," Phoebe replied while shaking her head. "I just imagine if we have a baby our marriage will feel more colorful..maybe I won't be lonely anymore when you go to work."

"That's for sure. Even I will often go home early because I will always miss our baby," said John with a smile.

"We're delusional too far," said Phoebe with a little smile.

"And this delusion makes me want to make that come true," said John and then touched Phoebe's lips gently. "Can we move to the bed, or do you want to be on the couch?"

"What do you mean?" Phoebe asked.

"Let's make a baby," John replied with a seductive smile, about to kiss Phoebe but was avoided.

"John, it's already morning. I know you have to be at the office again at eight ... I'll prepare breakfast now," Phoebe said as she pushed John's hand away from her face.

"Honey, we can order food, or if necessary starting today I will hire a maid on duty to cook so you don't have to cook and clean the house," said John seriously. "I made you my wife to serve me, to love me, not to be a maid in this house," he continued.

"I didn't say that I was a maid in this house."

"Yeah, but you're behaving like a maid. I want you to stay here, we cuddle, enjoying the morning vibes….Don't keep busy with homework," said John again embracing Phoebe tightly. "Just so you know, I miss the intimate atmosphere... I'm sorry I fell asleep at the office."

Phoebe was just silent surrender, feeling strange with John's attitude. 'Is he like this to cover up what he did, to cover up his mistake for not coming home last night? I'm really curious as to whether everything he said was true or not,' she thought restlessly.

Elsewhere, in a hotel room, Rachel was relaxing, sipping coffee, sitting in a chair right by the open window, allowing her to watch the sunrise.

"Hmm….I'll be spending more time with John at his apartment, which means I have to be good at making excuses when Travis calls me," Rachel muttered, wearing only a white bathrobe and a white towel on her still wet hairy, hmm..looks like she's done shampooing after having a forbidden night with someone's husband, namely John.

Drett ... Drett...

Rachel glanced at her phone which was on the table, and saw that there was an incoming call from the contact number named "My Man". she immediately grabbed the sophisticated object, then answered the call.

"Hello, Babe," Rachel said casually.

"Honey, when are you coming back to New York? I missed you so much... Why did you stay there so long? Is your grandma unwell so you don't come back soon?" A man wonders over the phone.

"Sorry, honey. I can't come back right away because I have important business," Rachel answered, starting to make up a story. "I should have promised to attend the opening of a new branch of my friend's cosmetics company...I don't feel good if I suddenly go home before the event is held."

"Is that true?"

"Yeah, honey. It looks like I'm going to be busy with each other for a few days so we can't keep in touch," Rachel explained in a voice that sounded sad.

"Even though I haven't been too busy these past few days. I thought I could spend some time with you but you're busy."

"I promise after my business is done I'll be right back and maybe we can hang out together," Rachel said then took a sip of her coffee.

"No, we are not going anywhere but we will do something special at home or in my apartment. It is more precious than having fun outside," said the man.

Rachel let out a shaky breath. "Well... I know you never liked having fun outside...now I will go to sleep. I am still sleepy."

"Okay, honey. Don't forget to get up early and have a healthy breakfast. I love you..."

"I love you too," Rachel said then quickly hung up the phone.

Rachel put her phone back on the table, silent with her gaze fixed on the scene in front of her.

'Travis is sweet but he doesn't know what makes me happy and John always knows what I want. I wanted more and more to choose to be with John forever over Travis. But surely there will be many pros and cons with my decision later, including mommy who wants to make Travis a son-in-law!' she thought angrily.
