"With your what, Rayth?" She snapped, her placid facade splintering and causing his smile to vanish. "You are jealous over the attention of your brother when he is the one who is gaining her trust. Your cruelty is only necessary when she is stepping out of line." 

"Which she did tonight," he said through gritted teeth. 

"You harmed her before that. Do you not recall it? That is what instigated the tantrum that disturbed my meal," she said, gesturing for an attendant who stepped in to bring her the glass of blood she was holding. 

"You want me to be… what? Nice to her?" he said distastefully. "She is fae. She is living."
