Chapitre 21: Pumpkin Cafe

Wagumoland was a strange sight—an amusement park nestled in the clouds, its bright colors and whimsical designs starkly contrasted against the eerie silence. The rides stood still, their once-vibrant energy now replaced by an oppressive emptiness. Nico Robin walked confidently ahead, her stride purposeful as Imai followed, glancing around with suspicion.

"Are you sure this is the place, Nico?" Imai asked, her tone skeptical. "This doesn't feel right. What kind of amusement park is this empty?"

"Be patient," Nico replied, barely glancing over her shoulder. "We're heading to a café deeper in the park. That's where Conis works now."

Imai's eyes swept over the deserted attractions. The silence was unnerving, but the park itself looked charming—quaint and colorful, with pumpkin-shaped decorations adorning the paths. If not for the absence of workers or visitors, it might have been an enjoyable place to explore.

The two stopped in front of a small, cozy café with a carved wooden sign that read Pumpkin Café. The design was quaint, the windows adorned with pumpkin-shaped ornaments.

"This is it," Nico said, knocking lightly before opening the door.

Inside, a lone figure was sweeping the floor. The woman looked up, startled, her long blonde hair swaying as she turned. Her expression softened the moment she recognized Nico.

"Nico!" Conis exclaimed, dropping her broom and running over to embrace her.

"It's been a while," Nico said, returning the hug with a small smile.

Conis's eyes darted to the figure standing behind Nico. Imai leaned casually against the doorframe, her crimson gaze unwavering as she observed the exchange.

"Ah," Conis murmured, her smile faltering. "Let's sit down. I'll make some tea, and we can talk."

The café was just as cozy inside as it appeared outside. Conis served them steaming tea in pumpkin-shaped cups, the earthy aroma filling the room.

As they sipped their tea, Conis began her explanation.

"A few months ago, there was a torrent in the sky. A figure appeared from it… Enel." Her voice trembled slightly as she said his name. "Everyone tried to fight him off, but he was stronger than ever. It was terrifying."

Imai's brow furrowed. "Stronger? How?"

Conis hesitated, looking down at her teacup. "It's hard to explain. His powers… it's not just his lightning anymore. He can… invade people's minds somehow. He changes their beliefs, makes them loyal to him."

Nico frowned. "Mind control?"

"Something like that," Conis admitted. "I don't fully understand it, but almost everyone was affected. He replaced Gan Fall as God. The old man… he tried to fight, but he's not the warrior he once was. Enel overpowered him easily."

"And you?" Imai asked, her gaze sharp.

"I hid," Conis said softly, her voice tinged with guilt. "I went to the Lower Yard, where Enel couldn't sense me. But… my friends, my family… they're all under his control now." Her shoulders trembled as she spoke, and she covered her face with her hands.

The room fell silent for a moment. Imai leaned back in her chair, exhaling slowly.

"Sounds simple enough," she said finally, her tone nonchalant. "We kill Enel, and it's over."

Conis looked up, startled. "But Enel's power—"

"Doesn't matter," Imai interrupted. "There isn't anyone alive I can't cut down. God or not."

Conis instinctively scooted her chair back, her wide eyes darting to Nico.

Nico chuckled softly. "Don't worry, Conis. She's not as scary when she's not fighting. And she's more than capable. You can rely on her."

Imai raised an eyebrow, her lips quirking into a smirk. "Flattery, Nico? You must want something from me."

"Of course I do," Nico replied smoothly, her smile enigmatic. "We're a team, after all."

"You're not planning to make me fight him alone, are you?" Imai asked, narrowing her eyes.

"Of course not," Nico said with a not-so-reassuring smile.

Imai sighed, leaning back again. "At least try to make it convincing."

The conversation shifted to Enel's influence over Skypiea. Conis explained how the godlike figure ruled with fear, his presence felt across the entire island. Finding him was difficult, as he constantly moved to ensure his dominance over the land.

"So how do we bait him out?" Nico asked, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of her teacup.

"You already did," Conis said nervously. "Before you arrived, there were reports of two intruders. I'm sure he's looking for you now."

Imai tapped her chin thoughtfully. "If that's true, why hasn't he found us yet? He's clearly waiting for something."

"Unless…" Her voice trailed off as a grin spread across her face. "He's waiting for the perfect opportunity—when we're separated."

Conis's face paled. "What are you planning?"

Imai leaned forward. "Conis, is there a wide, open area near here? Somewhere with nothing around?"

"Yes," Conis said hesitantly. "There's a large open space below Wagumoland. It's just clouds."

"Perfect," Imai said, her grin widening. "I'll go there alone. Let him try to ambush me. It'll save us the trouble of finding him."

"But… will you be okay?" Nico asked, concern flickering in her eyes.

Imai waved off her worry. "Who do you think I am? There's no one on this island who could even make me try."

Conis turned to Nico, who gave her a reassuring nod.

"In case you didn't know," Nico said, her tone light, "Imai is the Fifth Emperor."

Conis froze, her eyes wide. "Fifth… Emperor?"

"That's me," Imai said, taking another sip of tea. "By the way, this tea is amazing. Can I have some more?"

Conis nodded absently, still processing the information as she refilled Imai's cup.

"Fifth… Emperor…" she murmured again, staring at Imai in awe and disbelief.

Nico stifled a laugh. "Don't worry, Conis. She might be an emperor, but she's just as human as the rest of us. Well, most of the time."

Imai smirked. "Flattery again? Keep it up, Nico. I might start to think you like me."

Nico smiled mysteriously. "I wouldn't go that far."
