Chapitre 49: Attack on Vale VIII
Neo watched as the Whale took a sharp nose dive towards Beacon. She knew her friends were there and panicked. She quickly opened chat and started to type.
[>Neo²: Tell me you guys can do something about that..<]

Neo felt the Bullhead shake a little. She looked down and noticed that as the Monstra dove down at Beacon, it was being pushed downward by a glowing and empowered Raven. Near her and flying in the sky was Cinder, who was pushing the head down with heavy impacting fireballs. It was being bombarded with explosives and dust rounds as well. Bullheads had arrived from outside Vale, carrying Huntsmen and Branwen Mercenaries, who kept a distance and used conventional explosives on the Monstra to halt its momentum.
It wasn't stopping. Though it was slowing down. It was still on a direct path to Beacon. Neo looked at Neopolitan and both nodded to each other.
"Okay you guys head down and help against the horde. I have to help take Moby the dick down" Neo threw Roman a mock-salute and jumped out, flying on her own flaming Maiden wings.
She dove straight down where Raven and Cinder were both using their magic to push the Grimm down. Cinder looked over as a sudden flash of flaming lightning assisted her own flames.
"I see you're getting proactive, Cindy!" Neo commented and retrieved Yamato from her inventory.
"Well it was that or be crushed by this monster! Not a hard decision to make!" Cinder retorted with grit teeth as Raven floated up close to them and used wind magic to bombard the Monstra's massive body with air cannons.
"Fantastic! Now shut up and help me before this thing kills everyone in Beacon!" Raven barked.
"Combine the Maiden powers. I have a wonderful ORIGINAL idea. I call it 'Spirit Bomb', catchy eh?" Neo put her left hand out and summoned a large budding orb of lightning and flames.
"Catchy or not, we have to bring it down, now!" Cinder responded as she watched the Monstra descend.
"Build up and combine your magic into this sphere. We'll hit it with a big one" Neo declared, looking at the two Maidens.
"If it can work, fine" Raven put her hand to the orb and added her magic as it expanded.
"I'm saving Mercury and Emerald.." Cinder nodded and did the same.
The orb, which was four meters in diameter, expanded quickly to twenty as Neo raised it over her head. Then it expanded further and further. The heat and energy from within became more intense and transformed into a different state. It became an extremely hot ball of plasma contained by a wall of violent and pressurized wind. Once it was complete, they all threw it down with a not insignificant amount of exertion from all three. The ball of extremely potent magical elements hit the Monstra on the head.
For five seconds, there was no explosion, even as it burned through and sunk into the Grimm's skin. Then it was unleashed. A roar of power was heard, followed by a blinding flash as the magic orb detonated.
Blinking the dark spots from her eyes, Neo noticed the Monstra had fallen right in front of Beacon and had started to disintegrate. Sighing in relief, she looked over to Raven and Cinder, who were both sweating.
"I think we did good there!" Neo cheerily commented before stopping and looking down at the Grimm.
She felt magic being unleashed on a tremendous scale. The black river had caught up and surrounded Beacon's first perimeter like a moat. Grimm had started to appear from within the water. None of them looked like newborns, as they should. It seemed Salem was fueling their growth with her magic or the relics. Either way, it wasn't good. If things continued as they were, Beacon would be overrun.
[>Neo²: I'm going in. A battle of attrition would be a fucking disaster for us<]
She wrote out before she could see the protests. Diving down at the Whale, she flew into its open mouth before recalling her wings. Right behind her, Raven and Cinder had followed closely.
"We HAVE to kill her now. Give it everything. Not ninety percent.. or any other arbitrary number. I mean.. EVERYTHING" Neo warned them.
"We can't afford not to give it everything, so of course" Raven responded.
"I know Salem well enough never to underestimate her.." Cinder shivered.
All three Maidens ran inside the Grimm fortress.
-Beacon, third perimeter-
Blake and Pyrrha's eyes widened in response to Neo's message in the chat. Blake ran forward but came to a sliding halt as Pyrrha's semblance caught her blade. Blake turned back to the red head and shot her a betrayed look.
"Blake! Look ahead!" Pyrrha pointed as the mass of Grimm spawned from the river. Behind them were the remaining original Grimm brought to siege Beacon.
Some of the Grimm that crawled out looked more like demonic entities than anything based off animals. Some were twisted and deformed looking, crawling their way to them in the form of monsters of legends.
"We have to defend Beacon. As much as I too want to join her.. we can't let Beacon fall" Pyrrha said in a consoling tone.
Neopolitan and Roman finally arrived at the third perimeter. Neopolitan gave a frustrated look at the Monstra before shaking her head and slapping her cheeks. Roman watched as the first perimeter engaged with the horde. The sound of gunfire had overpowered the sounds of thunder constantly going off.
"Better hope she pulls through.. This is some apocalyptic bull right here" Roman sighed and prepared to fight with the students.
-Within the Monstra-
The interior was quiet. There was a total lack of Grimm. In fact, the only thing they could really sense right now, was an overwhelming magical presence ahead. Down the hall, they felt it. It was behind a closed door but they all instinctively knew Salem was inside, waiting.
Neo looked at the two beside her as they approached the door. They both nodded in agreement at her. Neo took a quick second to steel herself before kicking the doors open. She expected to be blasted with magic right away. Or to see Salem in her chair, turning towards them like a villain.
What she got, was Salem, seated at a large table, drinking a cup of tea casually. She seemed unbothered by it all. The crash, the deaths of her subordinates, Cinder being here. It didn't look like it bothered her.
"Welcome. I was hoping for Ozma but oh well.. I can visit him in his little tower before I kill him" Salem said as casually as she could. As if she was talking about the weather.
"Or.. Or! Alternatively we could kill you" Neo casually replied as Cinder and Raven walked toward Salem, carefully moving around each side of the table.
"I've been trying that for centuries. Are you saying you possess the means? I did bleed earlier when I had a direct connection cut. Was that you?" Salem smiled and asked.
"And what if it was? Pretty sure you wanted to die. So then die already.." Neo stepped closer and observed Salem as Raven and Cinder stood two meters from her, ready to strike.
"You're exactly right. I do wish to die. You likely know my past, being not of this world. So you know I have another goal in mind as well" Salem calmly mentioned and lowered her cup.
"Wild guess but.. is it killing the brothers?" Neo cocked her head and asked.
"You might think me a fool for it. Using their gifts once again to try and kill them. I was indeed troubled by this, hundreds of years ago. Until I learned of the Grimm Reincarnator's 'system'. So many things inside that shop.. Some more valuable than others. After killing hundreds of Reincarnators, he racked up quite a few points. I've since had him buy some things to help in my God-Slaying needs" Salem finished and waved her hand as a ring of magic appears in the air.
She quickly pulls out a long spear with a dark blue shaft. It has golden metal decorations in the shapes of arrow tips that spiral around in a double helix pattern. The decorations finish at the top of the rod of the spear which features a white circle, which is completely empty, and has a cross that fills in the circle, but not completely. It was clear to Neo that the cross was a crucifix design. She remembered seeing it once.
From Highschool DxD, it was the 'True Longinus' that pierced Christ's body. Though at the moment, it looked off. Corrupted. It had a dark aura about it. Its divinity reversed somehow and twisted by Salem. She had a long time to experiment with God Slaying weapons, if what she said was true.
"Oh.. fuck.." Neo furrowed her brows as Salem stood up.
Salem spun the spear in a practiced manner and hummed to herself before her swing of the spear obliterated the table. Raven and Cinder leapt back to avoid the corrupting aura the Longinus was emitting. Salem watched as they regained their footing and smiled again.
"I have time to play. So, let's play.." Salem's hair was undone and her white locks fell past her hips.
Leaping up in the air, the brought the corrupted Longinus down at Raven. Raven flipped back and enhanced her speed with wind. They felt the energy in the spear unleash upon hitting the floor. All three threw up a barrier of fire, lightning and wind. Yet all it managed to do was block the worst of it. All three were pushed back to the front of the room.
Salem unleashed a whip of destructive dark magic at them right as they recovered. Neo slid under and Raven jumped while Cinder flew above it and threw a fully charged fireball at Salem. All it hit was a wall of Grimm arms that shot out of the floor, which were unstable and in the process of disintegrating, like the Monstra.
Neo pulled Rhongomyniad out and waved Yamato before a dozen spatial slashes tore Salem's body apart. Though it didn't last long, as the next two seconds, Salem was back to normal.
Raven and Cinder landed next to each other and both pushed their palms forward before a giant wall of flames and wind flew at Salem. With one hand, Salem held off the wall before seeing Neo in Proxy form fly through the wall and thrust Rhongomyniad at her. Salem countered with a thrust of the Longinus and both weapons clashed in a violent display of power.
Seeing Salem hold all three of them off at once, Raven pushed harder. Cinder grit her teeth as her body ignited in flames. Both of them pushed on as Neo and Salem's weapons steadily destroyed the room. The destruction around them spread more and sped up the dissipation of the Monstra. Just as they thought they were pushing Salem, they see her face break out into a sinister grin.
Salem stepped as a fissure of dark magic exploded beneath them. While they were caught off guard, Salem swept the Longinus out of their clash and swung a deadly decapitating strike at Raven. Seeing her in danger, Neo's eyes widened and she used lightning magic to tackle Raven away. Though she ended up taking the swing across her back that shattered her aura.
"Agghhhh!!" Neo yelled in pain as she and Raven were forced back.
"You.. idiot! Why did you.." Raven didn't get to finish her question due to being hit with the flying body of Cinder.
All three were in a heap. Cinder and Neo's aura, still not having recovered fully, had been shattered in the fight with Salem. Raven got up and watched as Salem strode over, holding a large amount of magic energy in her free hand.
"Good try" She complimented patronizingly before hitting them with an elemental explosion.
Seeing her fight was over, Salem turned her attention outside and started walking towards the school.
"Finally.. the end so close" She whispered as she gripped the True Longinus.
