Chapitre 5: The Meet

***

"Give me the spear," Eve begged, pointing at the weapon I was holding.

I quickly gave it to her. I thought she was going to show me something using the branch. It seems that I overthink about things that haven't happened recently.

She smiled, both of her hands looking shrewd using a spear. The thing was turned back and forth. I saw her like a major leading a parade of the marching band.

"The first thing you must know is that you must be close to your weapon. If you don't put your heart into it, then no matter how hard you practice, it will be useless," Eve explained.

She spoke clearly to me just as she was performing a stunt with the spear. Then, she immediately ran to the row of wooden dolls and started swinging strongly at the wooden dolls.

Her abilities are outstanding! I couldn't blink my big round eyes when I saw the power that seemed to match her curves.

Eve attacked the wooden dolls one by one with grace as if she were dancing with them in the middle of a luxurious performance hall.

The thirteen wooden dolls that had been standing now collapsed again after Eve's attack. I really didn't go wrong in choosing a teacher to study and practice with.

"That's what spearman are like," Eve explained, walking over with her whole body covered in sweat.

"Spectacular! How did you learn that?" I asked, curious.

"There was someone who used to teach me hard," Eve explained. I was silent getting an explanation from her.

The two of us looked like family, an older sister teaching her younger brother to be a man. She meant by teaching me martial arts.

She sat beside me with her legs stretched out, straight ahead. She saw her spear placed next to her body.

"You can tidy it all up before we really do our hard training this time," Eve asked, casually ordering me to clean up the mess she had just made.

Without arguing, I immediately took a step and went to the center of the field to start cleaning up the wooden dolls lying around. I don't remember their starting position, but I chose to line up two rows to the side neatly.

About ten minutes I finished cleaning up all the wooden dolls. I saw Eve already beside me, standing with a long sharp spear resting on her shoulder.

"You lined them up neatly. We won't be using them in our first practice anyway," Eve explained, glancing into my eyes that happened to be looking at her.

"Not going to use them?" I ask.

Then why am I tidying things up with such precision?

"Of course. Your body is not strong enough to take down a wooden doll that I have. For now, I'd rather teach you about the spear knight line," Eve explained.

Hearing it excited me. Technical training is also carried out. As usual, the teacher will demonstrate at the beginning, then the students will follow.

Eve showed the spear-wielding stance. It was pretty low, even below the waist.

"There are two kinds of initial stance, low stance, and high stance."

"What I showed you were a low stance. By using this technique, you can paralyze the enemy's legs and make them unable to fight back," Eve continued.

She returned to her feet as before, her legs spread and showed another, high stance. I think the high stance is the right fit for me.

"I think higher stances are better," I said, Eve nodding.

"It's good but not lethal," explained the woman.

I look around, aren't the two stances meant to attack and kill? So why did she say it wasn't lethal?

"The high stance is quite risky to be repelled by other weapons, such as swords and shields. However, it's different with the low horses," Eve explained, handing her spear to me.

She shows the leg with her right hand. I saw the knee and the back of the knee.

"The Low stance is deadly. With you successfully paralyzing these two points, you indirectly defeat your enemy," Eve replied.

I nodded. When asked about human body parts, I don't really understand. However, regarding the effectiveness of the attacks, I'm sure what Eve said was effective.

"Now try to do what I do," Eve pleaded, smiling as she gave me the show.

This foot immediately stepped forward. I started practicing what I saw just now with great strength. Eve nodded several times, saying I had done the stance she meant right.

But suddenly, I fell for no reason while maintaining a low stance. Eve immediately rushed over and helped me up.

"Looks like it's too early for you to learn the lowly stances. But, you don't need to worry. What you need is physical training." Eve helped me up.

What she said was absolutely true. In just five minutes I maintained a low stance. My legs were already sore, throbbing until they were cramping.

"Yes. Please don't hesitate to me," I replied, asking for help so that Eve would help me get into the ideal body to be able to wield a weapon like this.

Eve smiled as she folded her arms in front of her chest, "Sure. I will try."

Time flies so fast that the forest's depths darken as the day's training progresses.

Eve was training me hard like she wasn't giving me a break to breathe. So, to continue training further, she thought of giving me regular physical training this month.

"Maybe we'll have enough practice today. Then, we'll continue the day after tomorrow," said Eve. I gasped in shock.

"Why don't we just continue tomorrow?"

"The muscles in your body can't be forced. At least there's one day for you to rest so you can get back fit as before," said Eve. What she said was true.

Even today, it's already exhausting. What if this tiring exercise is done every day? Maybe I could die right before the mission.

Eve walked over and started to reach out. She invited me to return to the village with her spear.

"Since you're new here, how about you stay with me during this training?" Eve suggested.

I immediately agreed. I have absolutely no purpose in staying other than with her. Besides, I quite like her front yard.

We decided to leave the field immediately. Just as we were circling the cliff, we met a group of four adventurers.

I widened my eyes. I never thought I'd be able to meet another Adamas, of course judging by the blue sensor located above his head.

"Are you an Adamas?" I asked, surprised.

The man nodded happily. He smiled as he held his right hand to me, asking for a handshake.

"Of course. My name is James Galahad," replied the man with white light armor that matched the white sword he had.

Seen on the armor plate on his chest, the shape of a red plus sign inside a circle of the same color. I had no idea what the symbol was or if it was just a decoration of his armor.

"My name is Arthur, Arthur Mason."

"You seem to be from England because I came from there too," said Galahad, not expecting to get double the pleasure.

"May I know what your class is?" Galahad asked.

"Sure. I-"

"He's a Templar," Eve interrupted, pressing my shoulder tightly.

I just realized. I can't tell anyone about my class, not even a British person.

In response, I nodded lightly with a smile on my face.

"Templars? Is that true?" Galahad asked, starting to narrow his eyes.

"Sure. I'm a spear wielder, and I'm in a party with him," Eve replied.

"I don't care about you. However, I'm still not sure if he's a Templar," replied Galahad. He couldn't believe the smile was spreading on my face for some reason.

Eve said goodbye to them, especially Galahad. She said that I should go to take care of a file in the guild office. Eve didn't hesitate to say that I was new to this world.

I followed what she said. Galahad himself didn't stand in our way and resumed his journey with his adventurer group.

"You almost slipped up telling other people about your class," Eve said curtly.

"I'm sorry. I'm blinded by the joy of being able to meet other people who are like me," I replied quietly.

What have I done? I had just betrayed Eve's advice about telling other people about my class.

"Take care. The emblem on his armor, there's no mistaking that him as a Templar belonging to the Three Knights Alliance," Eve said, opening the gate and letting me in.

"The Three Knights Alliance? Why just three?" I asked, curious.

Eve suddenly stopped walking. She was silent as she opened the wooden door of her house. However, it didn't last long. She immediately walked in without answering my question.

It's weird. What is she actually hiding from me?
