A/N: Last chap we had some people comment about the smoking thing, I'd just like to remind you that the mc is smoking on the cover. Also, I'm currently really busy since I have to make time for gym, sports, time for myself and revision since exams are coming up so posting finna be odd since writing isn't a priority.
And by the way, this chap was written rather quickly so do forgive me if something don't make sense, I'll correct it as soon as possible, just drop a comment.
Valier POV:
I looked at Irene, she had two external wounds and was sleeping soundly. I looked back at the Saint, she seemed to be reporting what she knew to the Shadows. If everything went well, only members of the Darkness and the Saint would know I was strong. Of course, I had lied to both of them, but they weren't morons. The Darkness had an idea of my battle skill from a while back, and, although the Sword Saint wasn't a genius, she was not dumb enough to believe that I was able to survive here for nearly half a decade without a reasonable amount of strength.
Of course, they both wouldn't know how strong I was exactly, but they knew I wasn't weak. But, I was fine with them knowing that much, although I did lie to them, I doubted they'd do anything. The Sword Saint was reasonable and wouldn't do anything to her disciples 'brother' and savior considering her mental state, and the Darkness would leave me be, unless I posed a threat to the Empire.
I could burn down an orphanage in the next country over, and they wouldn't do shit unless they were ordered to, or if I posed a threat. Of course, they may report that I have a rather high combat power, but they'd probably assume I was around as strong as Irene. And that much intel being known was fine.
Now then, Irene probably didn't hear or understand the talk about me and Reinhardt being Demon Bloods, and even if she did, I doubted that she'd remember considering what the healing mages have said.
But if she did know...
"I'd have to kill her..."
I tightened both my hands into fists and looked at Irene with a thoughtful face, weighing out the pros and cons of killing Irene if she remembered what I truly was.
But, could Artorius's party really take that? They had already lost one of their most useful members, and the plot had derailed massively, so if it came down to it, I may have to pull some strings or directly intervene and either help them, or act as someone against them. The reason for this was because I needed them to get rid of certain catastrophes that would appear.
I'm not sure when it'll happen, but 'that' event would occur, and I wasn't sure if I could survive it without a fully powered party of Artorius and his Heroines being there to help. These catastrophes were the reason I wished to become even stronger, of course my longing for my previous strength was also a factor.
I sighed, I'd have to wait around two years till I'd get to enroll into Babylon Academy. Irene would enroll next year.
I then thought about how soon I'd probably awaken a Rune. Most people awakened a Rune at fifteen or so, that was why you needed to be fifteen to enroll at Babylon. Rune Bearers were often tricky to fight as they had non standard ways of fighting. Although I would certainly like a Rune, I didn't need one due to me having control of the Fenrir, and on top of that, I had access to Odin's Lost Eye along with the Relic of Hassan-I-Sabbah.
The Fenrir had its own Rune. I'd likely enroll it into the academy with me so that I had someone reliable to use. I could do that because the Fenrir had the ability to mimic the appearance of the species it's master belonged to. That was quite convenient for me.
I looked at Irene, she was among the people who had some of the more Absurd Runes. There were Runes that made you wonder how they could ever lose in a fight. The Irene in the original novel wasn't a particularly talented fighter, however she excelled in combat because of her incredible magical abilities and her Rune, even if she went around and fought like a dumbass, she'd still be a strong fighter.
But, no matter what Irene did, she'd never overcome the strength of Artorius Astedalle. His Swordsmanship, his monstrous Mana Capacity, his devastating Holy Magic, and that physique of his. All of this without mentioning his Heavenly Restriction.
His constitution made it so that he couldn't use any other element aside from the Holy element, he could also use pure Mana, but so could every mage. Anyways, it was said that without his constitution he would've been born as a quintuple elemental with the Flame, Water, Earth, Wind, and Holy Attributes at his disposal. However, by giving all that up, he was granted Holy Magic that transcended all other forms of Holy Magic.
Angelica was the second most talented at handling Holy Magic in their party, yet even she couldn't come close to him despite being the descendant of literal Angels. That was how fucking absurd he was, and not to mention his Rune. It was a bit weak when compared to the other party member's Runes, until you realized that Artorius was the only being capable of calling forth all of its power because of his constitution and talents.
I took a deep breath and relaxed for a moment. Irene was in a very vulnerable state, vulnerable people were easy to control. If I could become the only thing she could truly rely on, then I could control her to an extent.
'Now then, I'll have to slowly build our connection first.'
