Chapitre 49: The King's Judgment

"Kneel!" A guard rudely pushed me onto the cold floor. King Nick was sitting high on the throne with his golden crown, his hands on the chair's armrest, his right hand supporting his head. His eyes were closed as if he was asleep or deep in thought.

"Your Majesty, the prisoner is here!" the guard said.

"I am not a prisoner!" I protested loudly.

"Quiet!" King Nick suddenly shouted, his empty and malicious eyes staring at me. Then, he waved his hand and signaled the guard to leave.

"Your Majesty, what crime have I committed?" I looked up and asked.

"What crime have you committed?" King Nick stroked his chin and pretended to think. "Let me see what crime I can charge you with. Adultery? Disrespect to the King? How about treason?"

"What you just said is false!" I immediately grasped the hem of my skirt. "Because I didn't commit any crime!"
