"Did you get my text to…" Ava paused mid-sentence when she saw the look on Mason's face as he walked into the house.
"What is wrong? Ava asked him with concern.
Mason shrugged out of his jacket, dumped it on the floor and sat down on the sofa. Ava picked up the jacket and came to sit beside him.
"Mason, what is the problem? Did something happen?"
She had spoken to Mason earlier and he told her Deb didn't admit to the crime. He sounded well when they spoke and now she is confused seeing him this way.
"Deb truly did it. She killed my mum," Mason's voice was filled with so much pain, you could almost touch it.
"I'm so sorry," Ava said in a soft voice placing her arm around his shoulder.
"All these years, I thought she committed suicide, I thought she decided to take her life because she couldn't take it anymore. Not knowing that she was murdered. Murdered by Deb."
