The sound of her phone ringing was what woke Layla up. She pushed the phone further farther away from herself, groaning as she tried to get more sleep. She would return the call later.
After a while, the phone stopped ringing, and she was almost drifting back to sleep when it started ringing again.
Groaning out in frustration she stretched her hand and took the phone from where she had tossed it. She swiped her finger across the screen to answer without checking who was calling her.
"Hello?" She answered, her voice heavy with sleep.
"Layla, where the hell have you been?" Her mother barked from the other side of the phone, and Layla immediately realized her mistake. If she had known her mother was the one calling her, she wouldn't have answered the phone.
