Chapitre 40: A Bizarre Appearance
Rainn could see the movements of the two men in front of him. And since his stats had also increased his body was able to adjust a bit more to the brain's commands.
But still, he was face to face with three weapons striking at the same time. A spear and two daggers.
Luckily, Rainn had something they didn't know.
[ Skill activated: Thunder Step (Lv.4) ]
The sound of thunder echoed through the forest. Arga and Sesh were jolted back by the shockwave of lightning hitting their bodies. Then a second thunderclap appeared almost instantly.
"Fuck! What happened?!" Sesh snarled with his body still shaking. He also saw that Arga's situation was not much different. The two of them emitted a red spark that mixed with lightning. If there wasn't a ward protecting their body, the two of them couldn't imagine what kind of damage they would receive.
Rainn stood not far from them with a body that was also covered by a small wave of lightning.
"We have to be careful, Sesh," said Arga as he drew closer to Sesh. "He's not an easy opponent."
"Yeah, I can tell," replied Sesh. He had never seen anyone possess such a lightning technique.
Rainn looked at his two enemies with furrowed brows. He could see that there was some kind of red invisible veil covering their bodies. The ward protected the two of them from the effects of his [Thunder Step].
Behind him, Rainn could still hear the sound of Vyra's sword clashing with her enemy. Rainn was sure that Vyra could take care of herself. He was grateful that Vyra was following him back then.
"You let your guard down, kid!" Sesh lunged forward with his spear. The thick green liquid splashed onto Rainn's face and a stinging sting was felt on his face. Rainn raised the sword to parry Sesh's spear. But once again Arga also jumped at him.
[ Skill activated: Shield (Lv.4) ]
A semicircular energy dome appeared and blocked Arga's dagger pointed into his stomach. Arga widened his eyes, surprised. So did Sesh.
Rainn used the opportunity to kick Sesh in the stomach.
'BUAGH!'
Sesh was pushed back, clutching his stomach.
Rainn wasted no time. As soon as his [Shield] was gone, Rainn slashed his sword at Arga.
With one dagger Arga managed to ward off Rainn's sword. But it's not the same case with his next attack.
[ Skill activated: Lightning Bolt (Lv.3) ]
A streak of lightning shot out from Rainn's left hand and stabbed Arga's chest. Causing the man to fall backward and hit a tree until it snaps.
"ARGA!" Shouted Sesh. He looked at Rainn with eyes that were mixed with fear after rage earlier.
Meanwhile, Rainn did not stay silent and wasted time. He lunged at Sesh and then thrust his sword. Sesh who was unable to react quickly see the sword go toward his chest.
But Rainn's sword stopped in midair. Again, Sesh's ward stopped Rainn's attack accompanied by a red spark. Rainn gritted his teeth.
Sesh also took the opportunity to take his spear and was about to stab Rainn.
[ Skill activated: Pyrokinesis (Lv. 3) ]
But before Sesh could raise his spear, Rainn's fingertip shot a huge burst of fire. The red sparks of the ward grew more intense before they finally broke into energy beads like broken glass. Allowing the burst of fire to finally devour his body.
"ARRRGHHHH!!! HAAAARGHHHH!!!"
Sesh screams so loud that it echoes in the jungle. Rainn turned off [Pyrokinesis] and looked at Sesh's nearly charred body before his eyes.
Then he let it go and turned to Arga. But when he arrived at the place where Arga had crashed, the man was no longer there. Rainn spat, then looked for Vyra.
On the other hand, Vyra had landed a few slashes at Sonya and the woman seemed to have weakened. His steps began to sloppy. Vyra dealt the final blow with her wind magic. She created a wall of wind behind Sonya which then pushed the woman forward toward her. Vyra stabbed her sword at the woman.
Vyra's sword pierced Sonya's stomach with ease. Vyra drew her sword and let Sonya's body fall to the ground. She had killed bandits before. But that doesn't mean that Vyra is used to killing humans.
"Vyra!" Call Rain. Vira turned around.
"Let's get this over with."
Vyra nodded with mixed feelings and walked towards Rainn.
On the other hand, the three people were shocked and opened their eyes wide when they heard a scream.
"Who is that?" asked Tua, the leader of the group.
"Could it be Sesh?" asked Birga, another woman in the group with short hair.
No one answered because they were both worried.
"We should check," said Seti, the man's face suddenly turned pale after hearing the scream.
But Tua shook his head in response. "We're not done yet."
"But something could happen to the three of them!" Seti demands.
The elders knew that they must not leave the circle or the energy for summoning would not be enough.
But that scream was definitely a bad sign.
Tua looked up, the full moon had almost reached its peak. Soon they will be finished.
"Hold on a little longer," said Tua. "Soon we'll finish and get that power."
Seti and Birga had no choice but to listen to Tua. The series of red circles in front of them shone even brighter. The rhythm slowed down and the bright light began to dominate.
Rainn and Vyra ran out of the forest. The elders who saw them decided to increase the energy they channeled.
"Increase your energy! Hurry up!" Tua exclaimed.
Birga and Seti also obeyed and the circle became brighter.
"Rainn," said Vyra looking at the three people. "Why is the red light getting brighter?"
"Not a good sign," Rainn replied. "Come on!"
The two of them ran towards the three people.
Then the full moon reached its peak. The light fell right into the series of circles the three of them surrounded, as if responding to their call.
What happened was a pillar of light that came out of the series of circles. Shining upwards like a spear about to pierce the full moon.
A shockwave shot out and knocked off Rainn and Vyra who were running over. Vyra groaned. Rainn looked up from where he had fallen and saw a very bizarre scenery in front of his eyes.
There was a long-horned figure in the center of the circle. His body was an incomplete thick black mist and vanished under the halo of light.
[ You have called me. Say what you want. ]
The figure made a sound. But Rainn didn't see its lips moving. And its voice was accompanied by text that appeared in front of Rainn's eyes.
The magic waves continued to shoot out and held Rainn and Vyra in place. They couldn't hear what the three people were saying. But Rainn could SEE what the figure was saying.
[ You want power? So be it. I will give in exchange for your soul. ]
